The Lounge / Re: What did you name your ship and why?
« on: June 14, 2013, 03:26:26 pm »
I'm quite a fan of Norse mythology, so I named each of my ships after one of the nine worlds.

Pyramidion: Svartalfheim
Home of Dark elves, destruction etc.

Junker: Niflheim
Realm below Helheim (basically hell), full of junk etc.

Spire: Asgard
Highest realm, Spires are tall

Goldfish: Midgard
Middle realm, run-of-the-mill

Squid: Alfheim
Elves, fast, nimble

Galleon: Jotunheim
Realm of giants, Galleons are large

Once I was piloting a junker on canyons with a harpoon on front. Somehow I thought it was a good idea to charge both the opposing ships while my ally was away. Rammed one, killing it somehow, while hooking onto the other, before destroying that one with a broadside. It was quite awesome.

--Outside administrative plaza--

Tristan
"No, I do not believe we have. I'm Tristan."

He shook Plasma's hand.

Nidhogg
"Brother, this is Plasma, we were briefly acquainted a few days ago."

Tristan nodded in acknowledgement, before looking around.

Tristan
"We were just out for a walk, lovely day for it, apart from the recent carnage that is."

He gave a weak chuckle.

--Zill's apartment--

Tristan and Nidhogg had noticed yesterday's conflict and, when glimpsing the Wyrm through the window, Nidhogg was simply confused, but questioned it not.
Today, they stayed indoors for a while discussing possible courses of action.

Nidhogg
"I don't understand, why would he attack the city guard in general?"

Tristan
"The Wyrm is known to be... missing a few cogs, if you see what I mean. He revels in violence and has little regard for any life that isn't his own. My guess, he just wanted to have fun, and any underling who questioned him would be told some lie to justify the actions. 'This was my real employment' etcetera."

Nidhogg
"Either way, he's suffered a major defeat, and won't be back for hopefully a long while."

After some discussion, they agreed that staying cooped up inside was not the best thing to do. So they went outside.

Wyrm is just a psychopathic mercenary sent to kill Nidhogg and harass Anvala'a defence.

The Wyrm realised that he was surrounded and couldn't win. But he still had a trick up his sleeve. He took, from his coat, a flare and threw it into the air, while also dropping a smoke pellet. The smoke concealed him in the midst of battle while a call could be heard from within.

Wyrm
"BRING IN THE WYVERN!"

From over the buildings came the sight of a Galleon, soaring over the buildings and positioning its guns. The crew on board let down a rope from which the Wyrm grabbed hold of and was pulled up. The Wyvern fired a Flak shot at the ground where he was to cover him, while the Wyrm gave a one-handed salute to the remaining ground forces while being pulled up.

Wyrm
"This isn't the last you've seen if the Wyrm! Give my good wishes to whomever the woman was who got nearly blown up!"

And with that, the Wyvern pulled away to the north, out if sight.

--Rooftop--

Yiski's shot hit the mercenary square in the chest, penetrating straight through the armour and practically sending him flying off the rooftop. On the shot the Wyrm started to return fire. He was caught off guard but experience made him ready for the skirmish. He yelled out to the street behind him.

Wyrm
"Move in, cover me!"

Then from around a corner came around ten of the Wyrm's goons, armed with guns. They then fired upon the street from any makeshift cover available. The Wyrm then went into a crouched position on the roof and yelled at the ground forces.

Wyrm
"It's too soon for this! Hold the line! Cover me!"

And with that the Wyrm leapt straight off the roof into a dump, rolling off into the ranks of his men. He then pulled out his rifle and joined the fray.

--Wyrm's roof--

Merc
"Sir, you had the shot on that woman, why didn't you take it?"

The Wyrm placed his rifle back on his back.

Wyrm
"I didn't need to, and I realised I shouldn't. Better I remain hidden, and not attract people to the sound of my gun. This was just me testing the waters. She had the sense to find the bomb, it's good she's out if the picture, if only temporarily."

Merc
"But sir, you're testing the wrong waters, we need to kill Nidhogg. In Lord's Leap the Gallafells hired you to kill him."

Wyrm
"That job is really more of an 'if you can' affair. The Gallafells' real reason for employing me was, sadly, little more than to distract and harass the defenders of Anvala. I instantly took this on as an opportunity to have good ole' fashioned murderous fun. And that is what I intend to do. And if Nidhogg dies then that's a bonus."

--Rooftop opposite the Armoury--

The Wyrm took the rifle off his back and pointed it in the direction of the Armoury door, waiting.

Merc
"Sir, I don't think it's a good idea to remain this close to the explosion."

Wyrm
"I like to live life on the edge. Plus, I can't risk anyone finding the bomb."

Merc
"I called for the Wyvern, it should be here shortly."

Wyrm
"Good, but keep it in the docks for now."

The Wyrm took out the pocket watch again and checked it.

Wyrm
"Soon."

--Armoury--

The Wyrm entered the armoury after he saw BdrLine leave. He eyed the room around him, full of weapons.

Wyrm
"Damn, there's enough firepower here to overthrow the Empire. Too bad it all has to go. Can't risk an assault with all these weapons about"

And with that he withdrew a bomb and timer from his coat and set it up behind a barrel of powder. Before taking out a pocket watch and setting the time.

Wyrm
"An hour should do it, I want a good vantage point from which to watch the fireworks. Hehe."

--The roof of a distant building--

The Wyrm looked through the telescope at the council chambers, eyeing every person there. He saw Tristan and Nidhogg enter a building near the council chambers.

Wyrm
"The area is crawling with elites."

A mercenary next to him peered through his own telescope at the area.

Merc
"We should strike now, while he's vulnerable."

Wyrm
"Take another look. Broad daylight, extreme security, near a weapons depot. You fucking idiot, this the absolute worst time to strike. But we should act soon. Bring in another fifty or so of our best, more guns, more explosives, and the Wyvern."

--Armoury--

While the group waited outside of the chambers, Tristan burst in, followed by Nidhogg, who was cradling his left arm, of which a torn piece of his cloak was wrapped around like a bandage.

Tristan
"Excuse me, but we're desperately in need of shelter. And apparently you and my brother were briefly acquainted."

He gestured toward Nidhogg, who had just caught up to him.

Nidhogg
"I'm sorry, but I'm in grave danger, meaning now you are too. I need help."
