Names are signed up. If partners are not found before the date, I will be assigning the singles together.

Unfortunately adding in a special color for names does require us to take down the master server, so we probably won't be doing that.

Hey Yar,

You can apply at any point before the event ends.  That means until the 29th -edit- you can still join in.
You are free to play with anyone else signed up for the event, or sign a new partner up at any time.

General Discussion / Re: Was GOIO A Fluke?
« on: May 05, 2015, 03:50:33 pm »
Just wanted to jump in here and I wanted to thank you for amazingly clear and objective look you wrote out MagKel.

I definitely agree there is often times a tilted view of what our priorities are, what our players priorities are, and what players think we think our players priorities are.
As far as excitedly pushing Co-Op in fireside, mostly because taglines like that get the largest number of players to show up to chat with us. We have the lead designer there though and take all the MMR, meta, and Skirmish design questions we can. Trust me, we love doing it as well. Co-Op could easily viewed as our second kid so we do like to brag about the AI plays no longer leaving a brown stain on the side of mountain, but believe me when I say a lot of concern, time, and love are sill focused on Skirmish.

The biggest issue I feel like we run into is convincing players we actually act on feedback and this is because we get conflicting feedback. We get love and hate for every idea, balance change, or tweak we test.

As far as our feelings getting hurt, if people fall out of love with Guns or don't like the direction, of course it's not our favorite thing to hear, but we can respect and understand it. I think what bothers us the most is when it feels like information is twisted or incorrect especially when we have an open door policy.
We definitely want to do better to push this though. Howard and I have often given out our skype info and had very long (and very productive!) talks with players.
I'm Keyvias on skype (and pretty much everywhere) feel free to contact me directly.

@Richard, Nope, but you will be the only 45 in a novice game so I believe that should be enough to show off "I know what I'm talking about."
Let me talk to the team and see if there's a better solution though.

Hey Gilder,

What ranges are you firing at with the heavy clip?  Do you have any video?  I'd love to see what you're seeing and compare it to our test results to see what's different.

Thanks for the feedback (both the positive stuff and the critical eye it really does help us out!)

Hey Xylo,

You can definitely join in this event!  If you go to the docks you'll also find a bunch of guilds and people looking for players that want to learn to get better.

If you have any questions about the game definitely ask and I'll be happy to help as well.

Questions answered, if I missed yours or you want more info just let me know.

As far as will there be enough new players?
Oh boy, there are going to be a ton of people fresh on the boat constantly throughout that period if our estimates are correct, even if it was just level ones.
If for whatever reason, this turns to be untrue, we'll definitely compensate everyone for the time they're able to put in.

Thank you for the interest everyone and congrats to HCWindo and DoktorBarron for being the first to sign up!

Community Events / The Teaching Tournament! (Ended)
« on: April 23, 2015, 01:43:50 pm »
Coming up the middle of May, we're going to start getting a lot more new players in and we want to make sure they get the best members of our community showing them the ropes. Despite all the work we've done trying to make many parts of the game more newbie friendly, the best way to learn the game is from one of our local experts.

To this end we want pairs to each play a side in a novice game and help teach a gaggle of newbies. It'll be tough work, but it won't be thankless.  We aren't asking for your time free.  The winning team will get any three items from the in-game store and any team that scores over 10 points will receive a gold teacher badge.

Though you will sign up in teams of two, you can do a training game with any other non-novice player.
The event starts on the 15th of May and ends on the 29th of May.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions:
  • Sign up here, for the event your account will be made a teacher and you will be allowed to join novice games.
  • Click play and go to custom game.
  • Create a custom game (make sure it is novice.)
  • Have one other Teacher take a captaining slot on the other side.
  • Open the game to the matchmaking queue
  • Take a screenshot of the end game screen.
  • Send the screenshot to feedback@musegames.com with the subject line "Teaching Tournament"
  • Your team scores a point

To sign up simply put down the name of yourself and your teaching partner here in the thread. Between the times in question your accounts will be upgraded to do novice matches.

FAQ
Can I join up with one other person from another team and teach a game?
Yes, but both you and their team will get points

Can there be more than one teacher per side?
Yes, but it has to be even on each side and there must be at least 2 novices per ship.

Is this a special badge or the normal gold badge?
Yes, the special Ruby Teaching Medallion

Do we have to be captains?
It is strongly advised, but if you feel like you're able to teach while crewing, we will allow it.

Is there any specific time for this?
Nope, any time you and another person want to make a match for novices between the 15th and 29th of may, you can gain points from it.

Is there any end date to sign ups?
Nope, sign up before, in the middle, or a day before it ends.

(More incoming as questions are asked)

The Lounge / Re: Verdun Tournament
« on: April 10, 2015, 02:08:13 pm »
Hey guys,

Just wanted to hop in here since there appears to be a bit of heat. I don't consider this a Guns of Icarus official concern so definitely feel free to take this as just me hoping in with my two cents and you're also free tell me to screw off (just remember to be nice to each other.)

My only issue was this being in the community events section, which is definitely a Guns only kind of place, but with it moved to off-topic, I personally don't see any problem. I consider it a compliment that people want our community to play in other games (just goes to show how awesome you all are :D)

As far as the competitive scene, you're right we're not as hands on as we could be.  We've found the best events are run by players and our goal is always to support them with prizes, announcements, and anything else we can do to help with the organizers. I will say MLG was a bit more complex and frustrating than I want to go into here (I have a bit of rage on this topic, so I'll hold my tongue.) Definitely wish the Verdun devs the best of luck on this front since it is a lot of work, but very rewarding to get it kickstarted if their players help follow through.

So, as long as this is listed as non-guns of icarus, enjoy!
