World / Re: Fjord Baronies

It's obvious, since people from the Nether Lands in our society are called the Dutch then people from the Fjord Lands would be called the Butch.

There solved it, they're all called Butch.

Gameplay / Re: Spire Changes?
« on: July 06, 2014, 03:09:19 pm »
I never said the Spire was weak, I just said it's the weakest.

And for the record I was never one of those who stated the goldfish was weak.  There was never anything wrong with the Goldfish other than it is hard countered by some ships and team compositions and those builds happened to have been at one point the meta of the moment.  Now that the meta has shifted the Goldfish is being recognized as valuable again.

The squid is often not taken into competition because it represents so much risk.  Positioning, flight, gunner accuracy and engineering need to be near perfect for a squid to be competitive and for most teams that's just too difficult to rely on doing consistently or even at all and so they prefer to run ships that have greater margins of error.

If the Spire were to receive more armor, that balance would shift and further open up the range of ships being used.

Just think, when the achievement was initially in the game it was 4 seconds.

General Discussion / Re: Another Kickstarter?

If you visit Muse in NYC they might be nice enough to give you that T-Shirt (provided you give them some sort of alcohol, baked good or other goody in turn).

Ahh, was a tough match for sure.  Kestril you ought to play more, you're still as good as ever.

When I'm speaking of weakest I'm referring to a ship with the least competitive potential.

The Spire has an incredible amount of offensive firepower, but being weak against disable and all out killing as well as being unmaneuverable and a giant target isn't offset by the strength.

Ask any experienced player to rate the ships from strongest to weakest and almost all of them will place the Spire on the bottom of the list.

It's not weak, as it's a very capable ship, but it is the weakest.

550 armor sounds good. Let's ask awkm to Dev App it.

The Docks / Re: Quack Quack, it's Duck Time

Brilliant, though I would have assumed that someone would have been drinking to celebrate.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Captain Loadout Presets
« on: July 03, 2014, 02:47:44 am »
One of the major reasons why the Lobbies of Icarus last as long as they do are picky pilots who need time to convince their crew to bring a viable crew-loadout. Lobbies are occasionally prolonged a lot by that one guy who is neither responsive to voice- nor to text chat including pms. Sometimes these issues are language related as a player might outright not understand the requests made by the captain; Other unresponsive players might be tabed out of the game and miss a ship change and then there are those who struggle with the UI and think they have adjusted their equipment but didn't do so as they hit the back button instead of the customization complete button after changing their loadout.

This is the major issue that prevents lobbies from starting expeditiously.  I'm not certain this is the exact solution but some way for the pilot to set or communicate the tool loadouts to his crew is necessary.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: List of suggestions

1. Show enemy's fire projectile, or a more aggressive fire on the machinery to show fire is being applied.
Reason: Makes it easier to tell whether you can use the fire extinguisher or not.

2. Visual feedback, such as a 'No' symbol with text under it explaining "Can only repair when off cooldown", "Cannot extinguish when fire is applied", "Can only extinguish when off cooldown", and so forth.
Reason: Makes it easier to understand what you can and can not do in different situations (tailored for new players). Option to turn this off.

I'm still really confused by what you're asking for here.  The fire extinguisher and chem spray can always be applied to any component not under cooldown regardless of whether they are under fire.

I agree with Zill on this (and if you loom back in the Dev app forums have felt this way before it went into production) Spire just needs a bit more armor so you can fire a clip off and still have time to get in a mallet hit before armor breaks.

Gameplay / Re: It's The Clawwwwwww!
« on: July 02, 2014, 02:21:18 am »
Increasing claw damage only helps the pyra. Other than the galleon it's the only ship where all engines can easily be repaired by one engineer.

Reducing the effects of the claw would be far more effective at nerfing the perceived claw problems.

Gameplay / Re: Balance ideas for Pyramidion and Junker
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:00:31 pm »
I agree that the junker is definitely too tanky because of the hull-repair sweet spot.

The Junker is actually pretty well balanced and I hesitate to take away creative and skill based engineering tactics (as far as I'm concerned there are far too few already), it just turns a little too fast giving it almost permanent gun arcs and near instant weapon swaps.  It would only need the slightest bit of turn nerfing to bring it in balance.

Pheonix claw has been OP and near mandatory for as long as I can remember.

I'm surprised no one mentioned an armor reduction for the pyra.

Q&A / Re: Do pilot skills stay active if you get off the helm?
« on: June 29, 2014, 02:13:49 pm »
Yup, hydrogen, chute vent, drogue chute and impact bumpers will all stay active after leaving the helm for the remaining duration each tool has.
