I actually think that this is increaseing the lobby time massively, as people have to get to know a new crew everytime instead of just a new team.
BUT I do support the Idea as an optional feature for custom lobbys for the other reasons you said.
I'd like to try it.

I have no clue about exp distribution at all, so I can't really comment on this.
But I want to point out that for me the achievements and especially the system how they are locked rather give me ideas what to try next eg fly a goldfish, use heatsink, bring buffhammer... than to grind my level because lvls won't give me an advantage anyways.

Cool ideas, except for reload tool:
I think it could mess up balancing and would be part of most loadouts as 2 ammo types is usually sufficient. Also it's basically what stamina does, isn't it?

Yes and also remove pyra nose because sometimes the gatling is aiming through it.
I think they are for the pilot. I used them to bring frontguns in arc.

Id be happy to see the missions give bonuses to their associated skirmish map. This is something realistic and i think muse should put some emphasis on skirmish / alliance interplay.

Another thing popping up in my head:
I also imagine some sort of gamemode where you play Alliance against each other (2v2 maybe) but can't fight directly. More like your skill and performance in certain tasks and missions determines how many AIenemies (like a sort of minion) spawn that will try to prevent the other team from completing their tasks.
I don't know whether and how this could be realized in a balanced way without "endless combos" (fail once and there is no chance for comeback), the possibility to see how and what the opposing team is doing, but not being able to interact (if ramming is forbidden there must be physical separation, but that hinders visual feedback. or ramming could be allowed. AI enemies maybe will need teamcolors) .....

I only have a very vague idea and I guess it would be complicated to make and maybe to play, but I also think that it could be fun ^^

while I do like the theory of versus features in Alliance modes, I absolutely do not like the idea of sabotaging the success of others.
Technically I could search the match list for a primarily Mercantile match, join it and not repair, break guns with lochnagar, chemspray to delay cooldown, break prebuffs with other bufftool and basically ruin everyone's fun.
That's just an idea that suddenly popped up in my head when I was reading the above and I just hope nobody else gets it and is asshole and extreme enough to actually pull it off.

On a map like paritan rumble we could set up enemy ships on either side (those two lanes if you know what I mean) and have like a DPS race. The first one to get the finish line and kill all their enemies or something...idk but it sounds like this tool could have a lot of re-playability.
like a competitive Defense? Sounds cool!

Imagine a powerful levelgenerator whith spawnpoints, routes, behavior, goals, cargo, specific waves, timers, events, etc etc so creative minds can create special challenges and share them on the workshop.
I'm not sure if we really need this, but I would play it :)

Does that, however, mean that addin incendiary rounds to the flamethrower increases the fire chance from 0.22 to 0.66?
That is, from 0.22 (0.22 from direct hit) to 0.66 (0.22 direct hit + 0.2 incendiary hit + 0.2 incendiary aoe hit).
I don't think this is how probablity works, but I don't know how it's coded exactly, so you could have been right. :)
