Community Events / Official SCS/Competitive Ship Partnering Thread
« on: May 02, 2016, 04:50:07 pm »
If you are looking for a ship to partner with for SCS and can provide 1 ship of your own, post here to find others that are looking for the same.

There are many, many clans in GoI that are interested in competitive play but don't have enough members. Instead of having to conglomerate into bigger clans (or wait for single-ship tourneys) why not pair up with another team and get started right away?

Speaking only for myself, I'd love to see more teams in SCS and all the other tournaments. I do everything I can to encourage new teams. The bottom line is that it's open registration and anyone who wants to join can join, and LT&CO showed this week that you don't have to have been here since SCS1 to take the title. This was an invitational tournament that went on alongside the regular one, and even in this case people were able to sign up if they wanted.

In other words, if you have anyone that wants to join SCS, have them sign up and take their shot. No one is going to stand in their way.

If it were any other day I'd sign up, but I fear Wednesday is full. Still, best of luck!

Out of curiosity, how are signups going to be done? Is it done by team, by ship, or by individual?

Great resource, thanks. I've been working my way through all the old videos.

As Spud said, the community owes you a lot and you've done great work. It does not go unappreciated.

Agreed. 20 seconds isn't much to worry about.

Failing that, casters could stand to simply read out the weapons rather than zooming in on the ship to show them, allowing the camera to keep an eye on ship movement even if the announcers aren't talking about it. If people don't know what an artemis looks like, a closeup of one isn't much use to them anyway, and I have a strong suspicion that the bulk of observers are at least casual players.

ED: I've been requested to withdraw the Ryder team for balance reasons. My apologies to anyone that was unhappy with their experiences the past couple weeks, and hope everyone enjoys this week's event.

Tie breaker 1 will almost certainly be kills made during the finals. Tie breaker 2 will almost certainly be whoever came into the finals with the higher score.

So are we using the original rules or this set?

I'd really, really like to have it just be done on wins. The kill thing fits a Ryder style of play well, of course, but I find it tactically constricting and I think it simplifies the game more than it should be.

We'll be answering questions and making suggestions to lower level teams if we meet up with any. I can't promise we'll be super useful, but we're happy to help where we can.
