I am now curious, how many shots would it take to kill a ship with nothing but Flares?

Ask a Cake, they know.

But as long as an engineer is on the enemy ship, you won't kill anything with just flares. (You'll lag the ---- out of the game though)

:-\ well, that is better than nothing so I would count that as a victory!

To help with my gameplay, I have an MMO style mouse with 12 buttons on the side. This enables me to plan exactly what buttons I need so that I do not technically press any buttons on my keyboard apart from the ship/movement controls.
To give you an idea, here is the typical layout of my mouse:
Architecture:
3          6          9          12
2          5          8          11
1          4          7          10

Allocation:
1 = button 1
2 = button 2
3 = button 3
4 = button 4
5 = button X
8 = button C

I can confirm, that with good crew the combination of mines and carro is devastating - though I use it on my Munker (carro front, rest are mines)

We have also found a bug where if you kill a ship with the harpoon attached, the rope will linger visualy, when that ship respawns the rope will visualy attach to it from where we are. Pretty much revealing where they are. I reported this ofcourse cus it is a huge advantage from a bug.

Mine/Barking dog front loadout.

...I need a good mine gunner now, this sounds devastating.

It is a strange loadout but on a pyra - it is devastating, Even from range, lesmok rounds can still pack a punch with mines and if they get closer, lochnagar them to the ground with the barking dog!
Me and fellow Bard member Sir Steffen love it (Sir Steffen is the best mine gunner I have ever encountered).

Can we all agree that I am the best Pilot if you cannot decide?  :P

I love piloting and will willingly help out any new crews whom require a captain or someone to guide them.

Personally, it is not about a specific ship, I feel that a good pilot needs to be proficient in most builds, I personally love the Metamideon but I also experiment and have become a huge fan of the mine/Barking dog front loadout.

Alternatively, I am also a huge fan of Mobulas and Spired, Despite not being the most competitive a close range combat, commanded correctly, their captain can deliver a deadly attack with decent coordination.

I dont know how the harpoon is bugged when i feel like im controlling it properly.
Even if it was bugged, I feel that it is a brilliant idea to enable crew to literally pull in ships at their command rather than automatically. I feel it adds to the roleplay:

"Reel them in Boys 'n' Girls! These merchants are just what we need to pay of the cost of all the moonshine we are using in this Pyramidion!"
