Community Events / Idea: Defence
« on: January 20, 2016, 03:40:21 am »
I had an idea,

I have seen a lot of really cool and interesting competitive and community events lately and I thought of a new idea.

If this idea has been thought of before, feel free to report this thread to a moderator and they can remove it.

Anyways, the idea:

A 2v2 or 4v4 layout. (have not seen many 4v4 events so this could be an interesting one)

4v4 layout:
  • There will be 2 teams of two ships.
  • Each team will consist of a mercenary and a trader.
  • Each team will have to defend their trader form the enemy mercenary.
  • Teams will gain points per trader kill.
  • Mercenary's will not gain points for killing other mercenary's.
Lets say for example, a mercenary kills 6 traders and defend their trader. They will gain 60 points but gain no points for killing mercenary's.
Now, lets say for example a trader gets 4 mercenary kills, they will gain 40 points.

  • Overall, Mercenary's will gain points for killing traders and Traders will gain points for killing mercenary's.
  • The overall point is for the mercenary's to defend their trader from other mercenary's.
  • a 50 point bonus will be given to Mercenary's who successfully prevent their trader from dying. A further 50 points will be given to traders for surviving without a death.
  • Obviously there is a kill limit so teams will be advised not to team up with other teams in game. Your kills, your score.

2v2 layout:
  • There will be 1 team of two ships.
  • Each team will consist of a mercenary and a trader.
  • Each team will have to defend their trader form the enemy mercenary.
  • Teams will gain points per trader kill.
  • Mercenary's will not gain points for killing other mercenary's.
Lets say for example, a mercenary kills 3 traders and defend their trader. They will gain 30 points but gain no points for killing mercenary's.
Now, lets say for example a trader gets 2 mercenary kills, they will gain 20 points.

The Pyra.

An artefact of great power, whos pointed edge shape makes the vessel a fun ship for ramming.

My suggestion!

Based of the design of the pyra and some goodies I have seen in Dev App I has a suggestion!

A ship, much like a pyra,

Pointed front.

two side guns with enough arc to look forward and to the sides a bit.

the difference.

Size! the vessel shall be smaller than a pyra, faster yet the front of the ship will be more durable.

a ram from the front will cause great damage to enemies.

being ramed form the sides and back will be an issue.

Speed? That can be arranged using 4 engines, much like a squid... on steriods..

the balloon? well, that will be an interesting proposition... how about a catamaran?

a purpose build ramming squid... thing... on steriods... with a pointy face.!!!

we shall call the ship. "The Mann ship" *Evil Laugh of evil"

Your thoughts mortals?

the ship name is available for improvement.

The Lounge / Fond Memories:
« on: October 29, 2015, 09:51:16 am »
So, on this fine, miserably raining day (Britain...) is the Third Birthday of Guns Of Icarus Online.

In those those three years, I am sure many players have had fond moments, what are yours?

I have had the game nearly two years and have many fond moments,

When I was slightly younger, I was on a Munker with Schwalbe (Sorry if I spelt that wrong) and other friends using a sound board, as the enemy collided with a mine field, I played out a Dexter Quote - "Surprise M..." (Im sure you know the rest...)
It was easily my funniest moment in Guns Of Icarus, I was laughing for ages afterwards.

Another fond moment of mine was meeting my first Bard after becoming a member of The Bards, Sir Steffen, We made a Flamer/Mine Pyra known as Nautilus. We went around every game with it, was a blast - literally.
I now have a new Bard Vessel - the Soul on Fire. A bundle of fun with a loving loop from Hypnopotamus Rex of Soul On Fire playing in the background.

Well, I have many more fond memories but those will do for now, I wish to know of your fond memories of this game over the last 3 years.

Feedback and Suggestions / Taunts
« on: August 04, 2015, 05:15:20 am »
So, another possible bad idea but regardless, I shall share.

Many moons ago, I encountered a free game known as "Loadout".

When you win a match, your character is displayed but there is a neat feature, You can press one of many buttons to make your self taunt the losers.

My suggestion.

So, we have the typical screen where everyone poses. I have an idea that if the captain selects a taunt from the character selection, his crew will perform the taunt in the victory screen.

Example:

You win a game.

The winning screen shows up and you are

Conga Dancing around the deck!

This is a bad idea.

What are your thoughts?

Feedback and Suggestions / Flare Fun:
« on: July 22, 2015, 06:53:00 am »
In the greenlight of the bring back the flare protest, I have a proposition.

Different Ammos have different effects right, how bout this,

Standard = green

Incen = red

Loch = Rainbow "its experimental"

Burst = Its current color, black? (maybe a possible cloak weapon) or Normal?

Charged = White

Heatsink = light blue

Lesmok = yellow

Greased = Normal Green

Heavy = Normal Green

The different colours are the different shades made in clouds :D

Your thoughts on this?

Hello one and all,

Are you new to Guns Of Icarus and are looking for a player who knows most of the ropes?

or

Are you an experienced player who has not played for a while and would like help to recall?

The Mann, is at your service.

The Mann is a Moderator and Teacher who has a very nice voice and has played the game quite a lot.

With over 4000 games played, about 1900 hours of gameplay, I have fairly decent knowledge of Piloting and Engineering.

Fancy Flying a tough ship like a squid?
Or
Wish to understand the tools you use?

Let me know! Find me in game or message on this post and I will get back to you.

Worried that you are a low level player and need to use Novice Matches.
Not a problem! I am a teacher therefore I have special permission to help new players in a respectable habitat with players of similar level

If you do not wish to have a teacher but would like to know some information about a particular subject in game?

Private Message me! I will try my best to provide you with a simple to understand message containing all the information you wish to know!

The Gallery / *Drooling* Take a look at this graphic
« on: July 04, 2015, 04:12:51 am »
Within the Gallery, I would like to show off this design because I have seen quite a few decals in game recently aimed at clans - Ducks, Sacrilege and so on. I also feel that people may like it too.

I am pretty sure it is on on the forums yet...

It is so pretty  :o

The Signal Tower / The Mann and Satchmo's Rein of Insanity:
« on: July 01, 2015, 02:12:33 pm »
Behold!  :D

A new force is being shined upon by The Signal Tower.

A force so powerful that people whom dare oppose will run away in fear as I demonstrate a new form of power beyond the likes of which no one has ever seen.

I present to you. Insanity.

The Captain's Corner
http://www.twitch.tv/thecaptainscorner

And

Grumpy Old Gamers and Grant.
http://www.twitch.tv/grumpyoldgamersandgrant

These are two livestream channels in which Myself - The Mann and Satchmo will be questioning the definition of insanity and then throwing the dictionary into a library donations box without actually reading it.

I will try my best to update this thread when we are Live but though the power of twitch, I can be lazy and ask you to check your emails regularly  :P

Be on the lookout my friends and cannon fodder, we will be knocking your socks off and then apologising because taking socks from people is rude and impolite and is probably a really mean thing to do. (DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME)  ???

Behold!

A rare visit from a former engineer onboard my Spire

Is this a sign?

We won the game 5:4

5 add 4 equals 9.

9 is a multiple of 3.

42 is a multiple of 3.

42 is the number of the Universe.

My God...

General Discussion / Ideas Discussion: "Around The World"
« on: June 21, 2015, 05:14:34 am »
Hello.

I am planning a special audio project. An orchestration based on the landscape of the Guns Of Icarus world. it will be called "Around the World"

It will be based on the following maps.

The Dunes (desert scrap,),

Paritan (Labyrinth),

Flayed Hills (Red Sepulcher),

Canyon (Canyon Ambush),

Firnfield (fight over firnfeld, Anglian Raiders),

Northern Fjords,

and

Refinery. (These are the general maps. if I missed any let me know...)

On this thread, I would like to discuss the feeling of these maps for example,

Paritan - dark, daunting and full of suspense.

I would like to take these ideas into consideration when I begin this audio project.

Also, give me ideas for style... what sort of orchestration would suit certain areas...

Paritan - a piano perhaps... high notes to give an eerie suspense...

This will be a community project in collaboration with fellow Bard, Brave Buccaneer Tavi who is kind enough to create a video for the project. A Brave Buccaneer Tavi's Adventures Movie 2.
