Oh my name is up, I'll have to check later. I won't command a ship in a match while I'm a solo, I'd be a spectator and advise both sides, not for points of course (since that doesn't count)

That said, I might have a partner after all, waiting for confirmation but my friend Freedomna might team up with me.

I'm super hyped for teaching, especially after today. I had the privilege of flying with a 1/1/1 new player as my gunner and training him was a blast, we were in a non novice match and he took to the game fast, 3 matches on a pyramidion and he was ready, eager, and able to crew my spire, and do a fine job of it. Truly the joys of teaching, eh?

I'm hoping to train many more new players now that we've had this influx. I'm sure you all are as well.

Feedback and Suggestions / Comments on the new UI
« on: May 15, 2015, 01:39:26 am »
I've player a lot of matches recently where I ended up helping people understand some of the features in the latest patch with stamina and the new UI and thought I'd collect some of mine, and others', opinions here.

First of all, Crazy King. This may just be me but I dislike that time remaining on  point is now in M:S format not seconds. A good CK game often requires risk/reward calculations between crews figuring out if they should let the other team take a point or fight it out. In the old system, it was immediately obvious how may points you stood to gain/give by fighting for a point, but the new system might take some conversion and every second counts. Sure, we all know HOW to do it (2:07 = 127) but still, I preferred the seconds count.

I already touched on my Altimeter opinion in another topic so I'll not go into detail there

Now, this next point is one I heard many of the people I talked to say. It seems that many feel the UI is too big. I somewhat agree as it hides the beautiful scenery sometimes but I don't get bugged by it a lot. Many people though, do. I've heard dozens of comments to that effect. Maybe introduce some sort of UI scaling?

Anyway, just some thoughts. Anyone agree/disagree/want to tear my guts out for daring to question muse? Weigh in.

Do you need some tinbots to crew your ship?

Nah, as the plasma beam shows, they would be melted first time we fight somebody with a flamer. Let's get Ghor in here. (Actually, Gandrayda was the best of the three IMO.)

Gameplay / Ship Names

Is it just me, or do ship names not show for more than a second (limiting it to one ship) after a match since the last big update.

I always go for names of Elegance. Here are the ones I remember off the top of my Head:

Pyramidion: Theronian (the name of a bomb in Metroid Prime 3)
Spire: Elysia (Planet from metroid prime 3, stems from Greek Elysium)
Junker: Bryyonian (From Bryyo, planet in Metroid Prime 3. can you tell I love that game yet?)
Galleon: Etria (Don't have a source, just came up with it)
Squid: Dreyfus (From henry Dreyfus, American engineer who came up for streamlining on some of the NYC's hudsons)

Golfish and mobula I cannot recall off the top of my head but they are also from elegance.

Pre-ordered my copy a few days ago! Shame I didn't know about the KS when it was going on, would have gladly supported (plus who doesn't like backer rewards right?) But all the same, glad to support this game. Now, hopefully adventure mode will grow the player base, no more 179 people online nights!

Keep up the good work MUSE

The idea to make heat sink stronger is a neat one, I do prefer it over giving gunners a 2nd engi tool since that would make them less distinct. On the other hand it might help reduce the shouts of "I don't need two gunners"

The idea of two is intriguing, though the raycasting would be a new thing to code, it could be done. I worry that some pilots might find that confusing.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Impact Bumpers

I actually use the bumpers over the drogue chute because the thrust reduction helps with delicate maneuvers however I can see that, in most circumstances, the Chute is better. I agree that increased damage reduction could certainly make the bumpers more viable.

The Lounge / Re: Introducing the new CAs!
« on: May 14, 2015, 01:45:59 pm »
Hello there, I go by Ashunera in GoI and Irbricksceo in Steam. I'm honored to have been welcomed into the CA group and will do my part to prove my worth. As the saying goes "I promise to do my best to do my duty". I'm a 19 year old Mechanical Engineering student as SPSU and have been playing GoI for about a Year now.

I decided to Join the CA's after seeing certain people being unfriendly and unhelpful to new players. This upset me, I feel the only way to grow the community is to support new players and help them learn. People scorn the inexperienced and that is wrong. When I joined the GoI community I was met by friendly and helpful people and I want to keep that great community going.

Feedback and Suggestions / Altimeter
« on: May 06, 2015, 11:41:18 am »
I mentioned this in a feedback email but, what do you guys think?

I feel the ship HUD needs a better altimeter than that blue gauge. I find that it isn't entirely accurate and altitude plays a large role in flying.
