Q&A / Alliance weps
« on: May 31, 2016, 04:14:40 pm »
So, I have seen some mention of the Alliance weapons, and they have been pushing some little memory button in the back of my mind. Finally, I remembered a thread a long while back, that was dedicated to theory crafting alternate forms for weapons, like an Apollo Heavy Missle launcher, or a Charybdis Heavy Mortar. Does anyone else think this thread might have something to do with some of the new weapons?

Feedback and Suggestions / New update
« on: May 24, 2016, 04:57:01 pm »
So, anyone played some of the new update? I didn't have a lot of time, so I just did the new tutorials, and found them quite well done. It definitely covered a lot of the things I see most people complain about new players doing, and explained the obvious things with an appropriate level of snark. Has anyone else tried these, and what do you think about them? What about VIP mode, anyone played that yet?

Feedback and Suggestions / Guns on youtube
« on: May 12, 2016, 03:48:41 pm »
So, we are all pretty aware of the guns presence on YouTube. Mostly youtubers who are novice, at best, at the game. What if there was a dedicated channel for guns? A channel with a different video for everything, kind of a tutorial 2.0 for those who want to go deeper than the main tutorial. A breakdown of each class, and their tools and job, a breakdown of each ship, and their meta, as well as off-the-wall but still functional loadouts, and a breakdown of each gun, with what ammo works on them, and what ammo doesn't.

I am talking about a different video for each of these, for those who are new to the game. Wanna pilot on junker? Watch the pilot video, and the junker video. There you go, you are fully prepped, though the same cannot be said for your crew.

So, what are your thoughts on this?

Q&A / What's new?
« on: May 09, 2016, 10:37:43 pm »
I have been pretty much out of the skies since the pyra nerf. Anyone able to catch up an old pilot on the new tricks? I played the other day(and actually saw GeoRmr, who I remembered from here) and seemed to handle everything fine in my faithful junker, The Infallible I, despite my time on the ground. What changes have been made, aside from the UI changes, that I should know about?

Feedback and Suggestions / new game mode: Capture points
« on: March 29, 2015, 12:58:21 pm »
Have you ever played team fortress 2? It has a fun game mode called capture points. Five points in total, and each team starts with two, while the middle point is neutral. All points are locked to capture, except for the middle point. Once the middle is captured, the next one is unlocked(if blue caps middle, red teams second point is unlocked, but not blue teams). Goal is to own all the points.

An alternative route would be to have the crazy king maps, but make every point cap-able at the same time, making it more like territories. Any thoughts?

Chem spray is amazing. Complete fire immunity, plenty of time in between for repairs. But what if it got changed? I think it could use a tiny nerf, to break up the monotony of circling the pyra. What if it only defended against a certain number of stacks? I am not sure of the math, but it could be rigged so that it lasts just enough stacks that a chem cycle on the pyra can keep it up. If you stop to repair, you will take a little fire for it. Then there are the ammos that add stacks in one way or another, which would cause it to last less time. Maybe add a bit more adrenaline. My exact plan might be a bit too much of a nerf, but I am sure people will agree that having complete impenetrable fire immunity is a little ridiculous. Any other ideas are welcome.

Feedback and Suggestions / swords
« on: March 06, 2015, 12:10:26 am »
What if there were swords? Not usable weapons, but a bonus misc slot for swords. Instead of a standard misc, these could be rewards, given for certain titles. Level 45 as a class, community ambassador, most wanted person and best bounty hunter. All of them could have unique decorative swords, as a symbol of standing, just as swords were often used in old days. They could also have unique swords as trophies for winning crews of different tournaments. Ideas and opinions?

Feedback and Suggestions / new players
« on: March 02, 2015, 02:48:49 pm »
I am aware that a lot of people hate new players. Many people want some solution to keep new players away from old players until new players are considered as good or better than "vets". This essentially means everyone wants the newbies to learn the meta and/or learn how to play in a way that fits someone's niche play style. There will be none of that here.

I am looking for truly applicable and useful ways to make sure new players learn important things. I do not want any suggestions involving level requirements or matches played. Levels mean nothing in my opinion, and someone could easily go through a hundred matches refusing to listen to anyone. So, none of that.

My idea is to have a specific set of achievements implemented. It could be made to not affect old players, and only apply to people who start the game "post achievements" so as to prevent someone who is all 45s from being forced into novice matches, simply because s/he never used the rangefinder. I was thinking there could be something like fifty of the achievements, all basic things like "extinguish 200 fires with extinguisher" or "block 100 stacks of fire with chem spray". Of these fifty it could be required to have at least 25, or 30 to be able to play advanced matches. Since these are important things I would hardly call collecting these achievement whoring.

If you have any additional ideas, or an idea all your own, please respond. After maybe a week, or I have seen enough ideas that I think could be applied easily and be effective, I plan to email a link to the devs, in the hopes that we can simultaneously help the new players, while ending the complaints of the old players.

Steam Workshop / Decals
« on: February 26, 2015, 05:42:57 pm »
is there anyone who would be willing to make requested decals to submit to the workshop? I have an idea, but absolutely no artistic capability. Let me know if you are willing and I could either post my idea here or PM you.

P.S. any admins that see this, sorry for putting it in two separate threads, I had not thought to check the gallery for a workshop area. If you can, would you remove my post in the general area?

General Discussion / decals
« on: February 26, 2015, 05:28:48 pm »
Not sure where to put this thread, as it does not really fit in most places. Maybe if there were a workshop thread, but I did not see one. Anyway, is there anyone who would be willing to make requested decals to submit to the workshop? I have an idea, but absolutely no artistic capability. Let me know if you are willing and I could either post my idea here or PM you.

Website and Forum Issues / dev attention on forums
« on: February 23, 2015, 04:52:28 pm »
I have noticed that their are some dev postings on the forum, but not many. Is there a specific set of key words that will catch a devs eye, prompting them to read a certain thread? Or do they read everything and only make their presence known on rare occasions? If it is the first, is it acceptable to email a link for a thread that we feel the devs should know about? Whichever it is, fine with me. I am not judging, just curious.

Feedback and Suggestions / dye trading
« on: February 19, 2015, 06:51:03 pm »
I like only a few dyes, and would not mind trading off the ones I do not like. It could be a simple 1-1 trade system, no economy or prices like tf2. Just finding someone who is willing to give you a green for your orange. I only mention this because I fear I will run out of the dye I like, and I do not have the money to spare on buying more(I think I saw dyes in the store. Might be wrong.) I am not sure how many coats I might go through that I want to change the colors on, nor am I sure of how the dye is worked with the achievements. If it is only meant to give a taste of them, so you can buy more of what you like from the store, that is fine. Just thought I would throw this idea out there.

Feedback and Suggestions / reticles
« on: February 19, 2015, 05:34:24 pm »
Would anyone else prefer something other than standard dot? I would not mind being able to change my crosshair. Another possibility would be each gun having unique cross hairs. A dot is great for Merc, but wings would be great on something like carrot. Not necessary, as the game is great as-is, but something I think would be nice, as well as simple to employ.

Feedback and Suggestions / New ship idea:Rhino
« on: February 18, 2015, 08:25:06 pm »
I have seen some people posting their ideas for new ships, so I thought I would try it out.

Bulky, slow flying beast of a ship.
The twist? Two armors. Main hull is weaker than normal, covers most of the ship. Second hull on front end, much tougher than normal, makes ramming a deadly possibility.
No guns on front end, so as to prevent it being insanely overpowered.

Gun on back, and each side, plus a heavy gun on each side.

Any additional ideas?
