Not sure where to put this but commenting here seemed right.

My clan wants to start joining competitions but there isn't a guide on how to start. Signing up and finding out about matches before the signups are full is difficult if you don't know where to look. Also learning about passwords and hidden matches that you have signed up for can be daunting. I have been figuring it out but but someone who knows more should make a guide for others like me who want to join the competitive games but don't know how.

The Docks / Clan Looking for alliance

My new clan KRAG is very small. Out of the 6 active players we can usually get a 4 man ship fully maned but most of the competitions are 2 ships of 4 each. I'm looking for another clan interested in joining us for practice and competitions. Something like what the StarBards did. Post in the comments if your clan is interested and maybe we can figure something out.

Yeah, last time I played 3v3s in GOIO, 90% were new players who all rage quit within 5 minutes of starting. Course I was flying a Munker and they had no concept of not rushing full speed into mines...heh heh

There's 'new', and then there's 'new and stupid'.  'New' will see a pointy object with a balloon and either try to ram it and then realize that's not a good idea, go around, logically deducing that it's a mine, or try to shoot it.

'New and Stupid' will repeatedly ram them, dying over and over.

Please make the distinction.  I'm rather tired of all the 'STUPID LOLN00BS ARE STUPID' being thrown around, when some people might just be new, and you are probably a better player, but the newbie isn't stupid, listens, and wants to learn.

casuals should play casual games.

this is a game you clear a good portion of your day's schedule for.

admiral.... the maps ARE labelled.

They are labeled after you have decided which one to play but not when you are voting on which to play next.

I think if the maps were labeled if it was Crazy King, King of the Hill or Death Match when you are voting for maps it may help with this problem. I would love to play more Crazy Kings but I keep forgetting which maps are Crazy Kings.

Not sure where to post this but someone has to know. We just won a game where after we were winning 2 to 1 our ally surrendered. I didn't know where the those function keys were for the first 8 months of playing the game. I finally mapped them.

Having a Captain at all will help you win more matches so I think a Gunmander is not a terrible idea. That being said reaction time becomes more and more important the better your opponents are so keep that in mind. I could see it working on a Squid because you can run around and get more perspective about what's behind you.

I love being Pilot, Captain and Admiral all at the same time. It's a lot of responsibility but when it works you really feel like you won the match. Others I know don't like all the responsibility and would rather blow stuff up and keep us alive. That's why this is such a great game. It is fun for lots of different people you just need to find "your class".
