General Discussion / Re: About auto balance
« on: April 14, 2017, 07:19:21 am »
it's also based on distance to capital. So the closer you get to the capital of a faction the more you have to earn.

This is pretty much what I've suggested for "balancing"
Another idea is just server wipe, every now and then map restarts to the original position so everyone gets eqal chance again.

I wonder what is the safety protocol for big amount of people leaving one faction. Say, one faction is reduced to their capital and people have lost motivation so 70% of faction population leaves. What happens then? At the moment probably nothing, their efforts just get calculated accordingly, but shouldn't we have something to try and minimize possibility of such situation?

oh-it's-this-thread-again.jpg

yadda yadda our experience shows differently, yadda yadda, nanoduckling's efforts, yadda yadda, we've been through this multiple times yadda yadda it's not vet's responsibility to babysit novices.

inb4 "you're such an elitist, noobs are people too, don't you remember when you were low lvl, do it cause you care for the game"

also yesterday I had two novices (lvl 3 and 5?) on my ship and quarter novice lobby and I didn't say a bad thing to anyone, you've got nothing on me brah

Well devs claim that everything is fine and you can play perfectly fine on the controler. Ask them.

We have no way of checking that but consider how many people have left this game because they were dissapointed they have to walk around the ship wacking stuff around.

I'm so rotten I can't remember honestly. I remember that I played during holidays and could spend like 6-8 hours daily, but why? Too many things happened in between for me to remember.

I agree with Hamster, or I will even say more: engineer is the least fun* class in GOIO, period**. Old Crazy King was an excellent example of that, to the point of EVERYONE avoiding this mode. But contrary to Wolfprints I don't think bigger amount of ships or weapons will do the trick, since engineers game-loop itself is boring and unsatisfying, not even mentioning that engineer (especially main) is somehow outside of everything that's happening. He doesn't have time to look around or shoot because he's constantly fixing, he may only hear about what is happening if his captain or crewmembers will be kind enough to tell him. I can't count moments when I heard "wooooaaaah, coool!" as an engie to realise I have no idea what have just happened nor I have possibility to see it (i.e. standing in different part of the ship with view blocked).
But then again this is something I've been talking about for at least 2 years now...

*inb4 "but being engineer is challenging!", fuck off, challenging =/= fun

**inb4 "but I like engineering very much!", well, sure, you may like it and I will gladly hear your arguments although I still think you're in vast minority here

Muse will close it because they refuse to discuss things like that on the forum...

... recommending writing an e-mail to them. It reminds me when my internet went down and all the phone lines were blocked and the recorded voice recommended me to visit company website.... through the internet :D

I still think the whole world map thing is lame as shit, but thats just me and its def a personal opinion. Like I said - its like a mobile game. kinda lame.

Actually I've had a discussion with my brother recently and we wondered how Muse haven't yet released a mobile goio game? Some basic clicker or strategy could be quite easy to do and it could get them some money and coverage.

Schwalbe gives the best hugs! :D And he can't even deny it.

I'll say in Schwalbe style: to anyone thinking he's toxic - go eat a dick.

With my 2,3k-ish match count I feel experienced enough for you not disgarding my opinion so quickly.

I think Boby's post went completely over your head. Of course I don't mind you having a different opinion but I think you don't see the issue. It's very telling that Bobby says engineer is not fun and first thing you respond with is that engineer is important. Nobody said it isn't. It doesn't matter at all for this case though.

Platforming is an exaggeration of what engineer is doing. How much platforming do you 'really' do on, say, mobula, spire, junker or pyramidion? Not much. I wouldn't say jumping straight down to reach the lower deck or jumping over a rail is really (an engiaging) platforming. Jumping over the stairs not to be blocked by a sticking out pixel is not platforming. The best of it is on the squid and even there it's like one or two jumps you have to learn and that's it. Rinse and repeat.

On time management... meh. This would have been true if cooldowns had been changed a bit. Usually it comes down to a good repair cycle and following your captains orders. And at some point you can't really get better at it because, again, cooldowns. Not even mentioning that many times you're just forced to camp the hull or baloon anyway, and again, you can't get any better at it and it's not really engaging.

It looks pretty cool! Actually I wonder why Muse haven't done a some kind of mobile strategy game/app for goio.

It could be interesting because it would fit into the GOIO's theme of teamwork and cooperation. You can do things on your own but you will be much more effective if you work together. And raising money for a certain goal, especially in times of war, is not uncommon among countries.
