How much experience do achievement give? Is there a different amount of experience for achievements of different levels?

Feedback and Suggestions / Level inflation and "noob problem"
« on: February 22, 2015, 12:36:13 pm »
Recently I've noticed a player who has 2 matches played and was lvl 1/2/3. Now with 1000 bonus exp for won match people lvl faster than ever, and I don't mind when that's a lvl30 going up, but this is a real problem when new players lvl up so fast that they remain novice for like a day or two. I've seen a guy with 9 matches played who had lvl7 in one class, which means that few more matches and he'll be out of novice, probably knowing nothing. I see lvl10-15 players not knowing that you can hit main engine in pyramidion from the bottom. There's a huge inflation of levels nowadays, which partially divided the community between pre-matchmakers and matchmakers. Personally I even accused (wrongly) one player of farming achievements because having played 1000 matches he had lvls 45/18/30-something. In comparison I, playing almost exclusively in old system, minding the achievements, having played 1500 matches didn't gain so high levels. I may sound like an arrogant douche but this shows that lvl45 and word "veteran" means much less nowadays. But other thing is much more important: new players lvl up fast, which means they get out of novice fast without much skill, and the newer players who just bought the game don't have anyone to play with, novice lobbies are abandoned. Do you know what happens then? Level2 gunner joining your crew. We all know the pain of that and we wish we never have had that kind of situation. This is bad for both new players as the veterans. That's why it is of greatest importance to fix that problem.

Firstly, as I mentioned in this* thread I plead for increasing novice lvl cap to at least lvl10 and preferably higher. This will increase the life of novice lobbies, and let me remind you that novice players can join advanced lobbies anyways. My point is explained in the given thread.

Secondly, reduce experience boost for won match from 1000 to 500. This will still be enough, but it will decrease the rapid lvl increase of new players.

Last but not least, probably the most radical solution, forbid players with match count below 50 (preferably higher) from joining advanced lobbies. This will let the community take some breath and not fear about the most unexperienced players joining our games.

I will be also sending this to devs in a minute. Lend me your thoughts on this.

Feedback and Suggestions / Return to crew form only for ships
« on: February 22, 2015, 12:11:57 pm »
Many times after a match I just want to evacutate with my crew, not with my crew 'and' my ally. I'd love to see that implemented.

Feedback and Suggestions / Minor but important fixes
« on: February 21, 2015, 09:02:00 pm »
Hello guys, recently I've decided to take notes when I find something annoying in GOIO, here's what I got:

- Button [Invite party] (or sth similar) in crew form should 'actually' send game invites to your party (with all the "Mr.Disaster invites you to play" thingie) instead of just showing a message on the party chat.

- There should be a sound when captain changes the ship, when we got a recommended loadout offer and when the match will begin soon (different sound for 30 seconds and 5 or 10 seconds). Many of us while waiting in the lobby do something different (or just browse cat pictures in Steam browser) so the sound would be very helpful. Oh, and also a sound when we recieve a PM!

- A clan page should mention the member count. Now when I see some clantag I don't know I check the profile and go to the clan page. Then I realise that member count is not there, so I go to community, go to clan list, write a clan name, click a button (I cannot confirm with enter? ughhhhhhhhhhh) and then I can finally see how many members clan does have.

- Make an [Exit Match] button. I remind you of this thread: https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,4735.msg80283.html#msg80283

The Pit / Communists in GOIO
« on: February 12, 2015, 05:01:07 pm »
Hello there

Recently I had the "pleasure" to play the game and notice that russian clan uses communist symbol (sickle and hammer) in their clan tag. I reported the player from that clan and I would like ask you all to do the same. Communism was a regime responsible for the deaths of millions of people and it is not right to use its emblem (I think it's actually against the law in many countries).

Hope you understand

General Discussion / The Community Video Tutorial Project
« on: February 11, 2015, 05:34:29 pm »
As Omniraptor suggested - I'm making a thread regarding a set of video tutorials we would like to hopefully make. I say we - the community. I'd really like Muse to patronage it in 'some' point and in longer perspective for videos to be community and Muse approved so they are kind of official - either put into the game or with links into the game (it can be just link to the forum thread).

I think that firstly we have to think about 'how' theese tutorials should look like, create general categories and perhaps some basic scripts.

I think it could be something like:

- Basic UI
- Basic Engineering (for all classes)
- Game Modes
- How not to be blocked - miniguide

- Engineering 101 (basic engineering stuff with fire extinguisher)
- Engineering 102 (engineering with parkour and ship shortcuts)
- Engineering Advanced (optional to make maybe - engineering with chem circles)

- Piloting 101 (basic piloting without any tools)
- Piloting 102 (piloting with tools: moonshine, kerosene, phoenix claw)
- Piloting 103 (piloting with rest of the tools)
- Piloting Advanced (optional, most used pilot tricks and tips)

- Gunning 101 (review of most commonly used guns)
- Gunning 102 (review of least commonly used guns)
- Gunning 103/ Gunning Advanced / Ammo Guide (ammo guide)

But it's just idea from top of my head. Let's talk about it and use the best ideas.

Feedback and Suggestions / Tame The Trolls
« on: January 06, 2015, 07:29:33 pm »
Firstly I'd like to ask you to watch this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbV_KT1iGao
Because watching it I realised I'd really like to see a similar (or the same) system in goio, which is also a similar game to LoL (at least when we talk about importance of cooperation). We need a system to recognise people who are worth having them on our ship. There were many suggestions like showing the number of recommendations player have or some other karma-ish system. Also maybe there's a possibility for "a tribunal" which would consist of CA's / mods who (I think) could easily handle 'some' of the reports. As to the reward part I think that reward could be some costume availible to get 'only' this way and of course a medal (or some other kind of sign on the profile and/or nickname). I'm sorry if it's a bit chaotic but tell me what do you think.

Feedback and Suggestions / Clouds in Canyon are riddiculous
« on: January 02, 2015, 07:42:51 pm »
There is a legend that every patch Muse adds another cloud to some map. And I think most of them end up in Canyon Ambush because when as soon as I leave the spawn I end up seeing nothing. I would like it to be less clouds on this map so actual f(l)ight is possible.

General Discussion / A break from goio
« on: November 15, 2014, 06:45:51 pm »
Hi guys

Before I start - I'm not writing this for any attention or pity. I just want to share my story. If you don't have anything clever to write - don't. If you don't care, don't read.

Today I deleted GOIO

For some time it was less and less fun for me to play and I noticed that most of the time I do play I find myself only frustrated, never entertained and happy with what I see. So I decided it's time to let go, I will not waste time on game that is not fun for me. It's even sadder when I think that I really  l o v e d  this game when I bought it.

I think the biggest problem is that even if you have three smart people on the ship and one lvl5 idiot who decides to be the second pilot (yeah, this happened today too) you are going to be so crippled that fighting anyone stops being valid or fun. I think that in 1.3.7 we had greater power to avoid such people and now it's almost impossible.

I treat this as a break but there's a reasonable chance that it's a break that I won't return from. I hope I'm wrong. I truly do. I wish everything best to Muse because they made the game that I spent almost 600 hours playing - more than any other game before. But maybe now it's not the game for me anymore.

For now, goodbye. And clear skies for everyone.

Feedback and Suggestions / Adding time
« on: November 15, 2014, 04:03:33 pm »
When timer go below 30 seconds adding time do not adds 30 seconds, it only resets the timer to 30 seconds. I'm all against that. Make [Add time] always increase the timer by 30 seconds.

inb4 "Just add time later" - no, because I don't want to take risk of misclicking or forgetting about timer

Hi guys
So basically one of the problem people may have with current matchmaking is that potentially lvl10 and lvl30 with the same win/lose ratio may have the same or similar glicko2 ratings and end up against each other in a match. Which (in most cases) is bad and ends up with stomping.
My suggestion is that player level may be multiplyer for glicko2 ratings. Not a big one, say* from 0.7 for lvl1 and 1 for lvl45. This way matchmaker may be more clever in its' choices and more EXPERIENCED** players would be put in games together.

*random, made-up numbers only for example purpose

** experience =/= skill per se, but I believe it matters a lot

Feedback and Suggestions / Let noobs be noobs - lvl cap
« on: November 09, 2014, 05:53:13 am »
Hi guys
Currently novice lvl cap is 1-7 which I think is incredibly low. Current 7 is tiny bit above old 2. I strongly believe that novices should be around old boundries (so say lvl12) or even higher. I remember when I was a novice I wanted to stay in novice matches longer to be sure not to screw things up for more experienced players in regular games. Since novice players can join regular lobbies anyway* I believe this will not hurt anyone and it will give players opportunity to grow. Firstly it gives high-tier noobs opportunity to polish up their skills even more and experiment a bit. Also, more experienced players may have more to teach the low-tier novice players. I think that lvl 1 - 12-15 would be a good new novice lvl cap.

*I think they have an option Novice/Not Novice lobby in matchmaker

What do you think guys? Does anybody know why novice cap is so low?

Feedback and Suggestions / Date formats
« on: November 03, 2014, 01:15:16 pm »
The american date format is MM/DD/YYYY as far as I remember
The 'almost all other countries' date format is DD/MM/YYYY.
Please make changing format availible in options.

Feedback and Suggestions / Limited out-of-matchmaker join time
« on: October 29, 2014, 05:02:14 pm »
Since joining lobbies from 'custom games' menu breaks balance and is considered an issue breaking matchmaking I suggest that people should have only limited time to join, only at the beginning. I imagine that it would be first 30-60 seconds of lobby excistence. Then people who decided to join their friends could wait in spectator zone and join after match ends and maybe it would make the matchmaker work better.

Of course this wouldn't apply to the custom-made lobbies (before setting it to find people from matchmaking).
