For the second time the first kill beats tie breaker has not reflected who would win if the match continued. Most recent kill better reflects the momentum of the match.

I like this idea much better.  I've also thought of having match timeout follow the same rules as pauses - if you're in an engagement, the timer can't run out.

General Discussion / Re: So, about the dev matches...

My only real idea for a fix: for future developer matches, might just wanna splash out the Muse players as evenly across both teams as possible?
Like, 8 them, 2 on every ship in a 2v2? I understand, flying with friends is a lot more fun, but from an image standpoint, warming up to your customers is always a good thing.
It's spicing the work professionalism with a bit of human warmth. It can never be wrong =) We'd all like to fly with you.

Isn't the point of it to beat the devs?  i.e. they need to all be on one team so that the other team can beat them for a prize?

Gameplay / Re: Has anyone done this?

Best thing to do, if your gunners can time it correctly, is to pop a loch mine behind them right before you connect with the poonshine ram.  You get the initial collision damage, the loch mine, and then a second collision from the mine throwing them back into the front of your ship.  I've instantly killed mobulas with it before :P.

I think Tix and I pioneered that technique.  So fun.  The trick is often to throw the mine between the hull and balloon - though that doesn't work for mobulas, obviously.

I got a large percentage of my "destroy parts on a harpooned ship" achievement with a harpoon/mine pyramidion.

"Mines, choose mines master!"

Well, obviously.  ;)

Nothing teaches a lesson better than vigilante mine justice.

I definitely got the feeling I would have been treated VERY differently as a male.  Sucks, but I seek to destroy the stereotype by being good at the game, giving reasonable advice, and destroying their obnoxious two-gunner ship of trolls.

Got called a "bossy bitch" for politely suggesting that my teammate not have two gunners, then they proceeded to harass me in PMs until I blocked them.

I really do prefer AI sometimes.

Nah, the other people in the thread knew what you meant, but then they were just arguing about whether it's okay to have a mallet on a squid (which it totally is - I never went through the spanner-wrench phase people are talking about).

I'm just a stickler for accuracy - like when noobs call the spanner a "wrench" and I'm like noooooo that's a different toooooooool...

Wrench and hammer is actually a great loadout!  ...if you know what a HAMMER IS.

Rubber mallet.  Buff hammer.  Please stop calling the mallet a "hammer".

Also, spanner/mallet/buff is definitely a thing.  It is often called "full buff" and has many uses, usually on triple-engi builds.  God, could you be any more condescending all the time?

The Lounge / Re: The first Clan that you joined?
« on: May 18, 2015, 02:55:54 pm »
Me and my 2 IRL friends I bought the game with made an RvB clan before the big clan update. It was only us in it, and we never remade it after the update.

Eventually, one May evening about a year ago, I discovered a single, music wielding Canadian, followed him around for a while, and the rest is history.

Fun fact for some of you new bloods, The Bards were originally [MUS] Musicians n Groupies.

Ah yes, back in the days when seeing a MUS tag meant an insta-block because then your MO was micspam in lobbies.  ;)

When I first started playing with my boyfriend and roommate, some random other newbs in one of our first matches invited us to their clan, Communist Sky Pandas.  They all stopped playing in pretty short order, and I left thinking of becoming a Gent.  Before I was fully initiated, Dutch Vanya, noting that I was already even wearing spring green (it was destiny), invited me to join Clan Clan and here I am!

General Discussion / Re: What do you name your ships and why?
« on: May 15, 2015, 10:33:27 pm »
My ship names are either rave-related (I'm a raver/rave DJ) or named after fonts (typography/graphic design nerd).

Spire: Elysium - named after one of my favorite happy hardcore tunes of all time, by Scott Brown - link to listen: https://youtu.be/GyZiBzbVRgU

Junker: Kandi Rave Party - some ravers in America wear loads of bright plastic bracelets, called 'kandi'.  I'm a kandi kid.

Pyramidion: Boots 'n' Cats - say it out loud repeatedly.  turn on some strobe lights and lasers.  insta-rave

Squid: Budmo Jiggler - the stupidest name for a font I've ever heard, and a goofy-looking font

Galleon: Bodoni Egyptian Pro - slab serif font.  Feels weighty like a galleon, especially bold of course

Goldfish: Helvetica - boring font for boring ship

Mobula: Novecento Wide - because it's wide, duh... though the font itself isn't that wide
