Pffffft. You have your tiny litte hats and glass eyes and pocket-whats-it's-faces. I'm gonna go salvage some free tech and scrap so I can make my guns turn into rocket launchers! Also because the more old-war relics I can salvage into gadgets! and so I can make even better pranks...

(I don't know if they will add DLC to GoIO, but if we're going to have a "unified universal enemy" in the GoIO world, one that all the factions will say that it's okay to blast out of the sky besides raiders, a 7th incoming faction from the south would be the way to go. Hell, a 7th faction could even justify having to deal with a plane-only swarm!)

Wait, wait, wait, you want me to get a fleet? From Anglea?

I'm not an influential master-of-tongue guild-backstabbing guy, I'm a scavenger for the Mistress's sake.

Fine. I'll go round up ships. I'll do some odd jobs here and there, buy a goldfish, re-route a couple Anglean fleets, get some pirate encampment's Pyramidions, stuff like that.

(I want to think that to the to the south there's a 7th faction of raiders and miners who embrace the ground and never want to "sever" their physical connection to it. Just cause we're blowing this up into an RP doesn't mean you can ignore the OP.)

What TYPE damage resistance are we talking about?
Just a general increase, I'm letting people decide what they want the Impact Bumpers to have reduce damage for. I'm all for making it resist explosive and shatter. Not sure about fletchette (right spelling, right?), and fire and piercing should be able to punch through impact bumpers.

THOSE. MACHINES. ANGLEA. MUST. HAVE.
DO.
WANT.

(Jester, I like to "Overshoot" things when doing stuff on the forums. You'll find that, while yes it can be toe-steppy much-hatey, it seems ridiculous to the point of hilarity. And for this thread at the moment, (((This))) represents my real opinion. Anything not in (((These))) can be exaggerated for "role-play effect."  ;D)

nope impact, so rams, and some of the mines

Question time, would an increase in damage resistance TYPES cause the Impact Bumpers to be used more?

I'm already seeing someone telling me that Impact Bumpers with a full out 25% damage reduction being OP as hell, so note the word "Increase", and not "maximum".

In fact, what is the difference between Arashi and Anglea? They are both raiders and pirates. Barbarians and Hill People refusing proper civilization for freedom. What is different between Arashi and Anglea? Do they have conflicts?

Paraphrasing question:

Quote from: Indreams
Is Anglea and Arashi the same?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

My in-game and role-play character would so much disagree with this, and since I created them both, I also disagree, but not to the exaggerated extent of my above role-play statement.

I feel that Arashi is a more "In the moment" civilization. Keyword is "In the moment". The world is being run with raiding and being a merchant as the powers of the time. Naturally, the Arashi Desert's harsh conditions and low economic power (I'd think) makes it a "Are you kidding?" scenario for all merchants. So, this leaves the Arashi with a single way of life: Death. Raiding is their specialty, and that is all they will do because that is all they CAN do.

Anglea, however, is barbaric because ice vikings. Everyone hears ships and someone has to go "Pirates?" Arashi fill in the gap of "Raiders", so here we have pirates. Angleans look backward and move forward, trying to get machinery of the past to secure their future. However, as luck would have it, trying to trade with other nations is a bit of a hassle when you live on a mountain. Although barbaric, they seek to unlock the minds of those pre-war, to become more powerful and to be able to advance forward. With an Anglean, he will take as he pleases, as he feels he will be able to do better than you with whatever you have.

OK, guild is useless.  Any other ideas?  Special high altitude ships?

As quoted by a scientist from the Squeaky Cog, rising in high altitude is possible, but it would cause damage to the crew and several components of our ships. I believe the best way to go is low to the ground.

And Jester, if an entire faction of Merchants who have instilled themselves practically goddamned everywhere haven't found a cure when that's their entire purpose for leaving home, then hats off to you for making or finding a cure for the plague. (In my opinion, srsly that's a huge plot point in the entirety of a whole GoIO faction don't remove it pls)

(Okay, Strange "Random Role-Play" thing aside, [I have no clue how we did that. Seriously. Apologies, Indreams.] I think that to the south there would  be more focus on ground. The GoIO counterpart, with veichles, dips and trenches, burnt-out ground from missiles, scrappy tanks and light jeeps, and for some absurd reason, even though they hadn't seen the current GoIO area, Anti-Air machinery like Heavy Flak bunkers. Oh, and the entire "It's poison!" thing? That wouldn't affect the people on ground, who have learned to consume mushrooms or herbs to be able to survive the Mercantile Guild "Plague", but have air-sickness should they get to heights such as climbing mountains or, you know, BUILDING AIRSHIPS. )

Impact Bumpers. I haven't seen too many of these lately. I use to use them right before a ram to reduce recoil damage, but turns out it's better to pop moonshine right before impact to keep the ship straight.

I thought Impact Bumpers reduced ALL damage. Like, a 25% reduction. (Can't remember resistance off of top of my head.)

Carrion Rat

Once exclusive to the areas surrounding Arashi territory, raiders who have had infestations of these pests have dropped them into other passerby ships in an attempt to frighten the crew and leave the ship dazed and off-guard. However, for the merchant ships that survived these ambushes, the rats lived on, and soon expanded throughout the world. The rats are capable of wearing away stone, metal, and wood with their defecations, while at the same time gnawing their way through rations and store-house crates. Although the pests are easily stopped by a bullet, their small size and twitchy movements have caused job opportunities for vicious pyromaniacs looking for a civil way to roast animals alive.

I don't know whether I should be sad that I haven't been yelled at or seen anyone being yelled at for being a colossal idiot  in my time of playing Guns of Icarus and been able to make retorts and puns back, or whether I should be happy that my experience in this game has enforced happiness and teamwork.

Yes, I believe this may be the case.  RedRoach, you have plenty of contacts in the guild.  Would you know of a technology they may sell that would protect us from such a thing?

Just because I KNOW the Guild doesn't mean I LIKE the Guild. They don't have the technology that could protect them from the Plague, hence their silver-tongue members  scavenging all over the place with their scamming deals and whatnot. As long as they can't find their cure, so they shall remain merchants.

And I've got like 4 friends in the Guild. Man, F--- the Guild.

Oh yeah, the south. More ruins, more sand, a couple of massive  raider strongholds littered throughout the area, and the so called "Plague" that the Mercantile Guild are always off about.

Basically, more death, more destruction. Nobody likes being there unless they're constantly embracing death. Which make sense, *ahem* Arashi Bastards *ahem*.

(RP storyline imminent, unless this is how we get a PvE scenario in Adventure Mode with raiders flying from the south.)

I'm going to shift the focus a little bit. What's the most underused pilot tool so far in the patch? I'm not asking "What is the most useless", but maybe both answers are one and the same?

Okay, so we all know the mystical Skywhale totally exists. That is out of the question. What is up for grabs though is what other kinds of animals are out there. Make one up and slap a description on it to see what else lives in the world of Guns of Icarus.

To get some gears started:

Dust Gull

A bird often found circling in flock around the areas of the dunes, this particular species has special coating on their feathers and eyes that allow them to be able to fly through duststorms without significant injury by sand. Although they have been proven to eat off of the occasional berry or herb, they are most notable for their recent record of eating the bodies of the crashed ship. Many a crew have noticed a formation of these birds flying in wake of a pirate in his attempt to hide, and have consequently blown it out of the sky, providing more food for the hungry creatures.
