Feedback and Suggestions / Fixed Crew Spots Set by Captain

I was playing with a new player the other day who made a good suggestion:

Captains should set certain slots of their ships to only be filled by certain classes

Meaning that a captain could chose to have all spots be for engineers so only engineers could join those spots, they could also chose to have one gunner spot and 2 engineer spots and so on. I imagine this would work in a similar way to loadout recommendations.
I believe this is a good way to solve the problem of having too many gunners while at the same time not being biased towards engi/gunner if the current meta changes (double gunner becomes somehow viable)

In my opinion wrench is always more useful than spanner for a gunner, you get much better repair power by using a wrench over a spanner, meaning you can repair your own gun (especially when that gun is a heavy gun) taking significant pressure off the engineers and also help repair other components when your gun isn't in arc or has a long reload time. You also don't gain much with a spanner except slightly better rebuild power but if you rebuild something with just a spanner it will still be low on health so will most likely die soon anyway.
What are peoples thoughts? Is there any advantage to spanner? If not, can we please get rid of the spanner achievements for gunners?

I think resource race should return but with maybe just 2 active points instead of 5 and the point limit reduced, that way the game wont drag on and it will be much easier to defend and take a point.
