Kitkat, please follow the discussion on discord. It has evolved way beyond this post.

You posted the discussion here so myself and Captian Scrobeard responded here. I was agreeing with Scrobeards simplicity of overtime. From what I watched last week it seemed very complicated and time consuming.

Best of luck with it.

Some unfortunate news came that Blackcliff Squad will not be able to join the event.

Team Bumble Mercenary Corp has bravely stepped in for them for Week 1. If there is another team/players that would like to help out with a Merc team for week 2 and/or week 3, please PM me. If we can not find another merc team or if Team Bumble Merc Corp can not play for the following 2 weeks we will award The Mad Hatters and Chocolate Shoulders the same amount of points that Dmitrij's Angels receives while playing against Team Bumble Merc Corp in this first week. This will be done to keep all teams in fair standings.

Why so complicated???

Are those rules necessary? ...
-or an overtime applies which always takes 3 min regardless if there's an engagement / LOS or not.
If the score is still even after 20 or 23 min, the firstkill or the infamous coinflip decides - I believe it was Nietzsche's Mustache saying in an older discussion in a similar context "both teams lose". And one is lucky enough to win by the firstkill or a coinflip.

Overtime should ONLY be used if there is a tie. From there I agree with Scrobeard, first to kill in 3 mins or coin flip. It's what has been used for years. I know people dislike the idea of coin flip but 1) we've never had a time were we have had to use it and 2) if teams have played for 23 minutes and still not gotten any points then dragging the match on is not going to be fun or helpful for anyone.

I watched the event last week and it was very confusing, at best, when both casters were "discussing" a) when overtime was over b) what encounters counted or didn't count as an engagement. It leaves way too much up for ref interpretation. I understand they are their to interpret situations and make the final call but the less things that can be subjective the better. There was quite a bit of down time for teams and viewers when the ref/casters were trying to figure out what engagement counted and for the streamer to send the video to the ref to re-watch the engagements to decide. Make it simple. If there is not a tie then overtime is not needed. Overtime is over after 3 minutes regardless if a team scores OR the moment a team scores which breaks the tie but not any longer than the 3 minutes.

*****Official Announcement*****

As it currently stands, players would enjoy Skyball being replaced by KOTH. The dominate con here is that KOTH only has 1 map which means every 2nd map will be the same. The dominate pro here are the concern that teams will reserve Squids for the Skyball match and this would lack interests for players and viewers more than the single map.

We will switch Skyball to KOTH.

KOTH is won by reaching 450 score which will make every 100 score equal to 1pt and the last 50 score will be an additional 1pt. A total of 5 points can be granted for a KOTH match.

We reserve the right to hold a popular vote among teams that actually sign up if it appears that this change is not the popular choice.

All of you who dislike the idea of the event don't need to participate.
There are plenty of events in the sea you can make in your own time.
That's assuming you would actually make and manage an event.

I for one like the idea of this event.

I appreciate your support Mann.

Yes, and nobody will. Any number of teams that would sign up to such an event would be nearly twice as big with Skyball taken out. The point of an event is to provide players something to work towards and provide the community something to watch... is an extremely simple action that will go a long way to boost both the reception of the event and the number of teams participating.

Participation seems to be about the same across various types of event. That being said, I already stated that we were willing to switch out Skyball for KOTH if that seemed to be the popular opinion. We, as the organizers, had held off from stating our decision for a few days to try to get a larger populations reactions to it. It's common that a loud minority drowns out the quieter majority but in the end we do make events in the hopes that players enjoy watching and playing the event. A lot of work from community members go into creating and executing an event and it's no fun for the organizers or players if no one enjoys it.

Blah blah blah

Please stop spamming your own posts.

Clarification: Does each matchup of teams play a set of three games against each other?

Suggestion: I'm afraid that every team will just save their squid for skyball. If, instead, a set consisted of all skyball games (perhaps only 2 instead of 3?), the teams would have to make harder choices with when to take their squid.

I realise that this would make it take much longer each week to get a full round-robin, and that wouldn't be ideal either.

Clarification: Yes. Each team will play 1 set against every team at some point during the 3 weeks and each set is 3 matches (Deathmatch, Skyball, VIP) It is not a bo3.

We were encouraged to use the different game modes. In saying that, there is a chance that every team could reserve their Squid for the Skyball match but KOTH only has 1 map. It came down to Skyball that has multiple different maps and teams can challenge themselves to win without a Squid if they are concerned about monotony. Or KOTH with only 1 map which would mean every set for every team would have the same mode on the same map which seemed much more monotonous.

Having a round robin each week, even with 2 casters, would make the event unreasonably long each week.
