General Discussion / Side Note: You know.. I'd like to apologize..
« on: January 18, 2014, 10:50:53 pm »
I must admit, I was one of those people totally absolutely 100% against scrambling.. I'm not one to want to make things easy on new people, only because I'm not one to want to make things easy on myself. I enjoy chaos, confusion, tough learning curbs, and heartache simply because the steeper the learning curb is, the faster you learn and I like to learn fast and decisively.

...But I must say that scrambling has made skirmish mode so much more interesting.. Lobbies fill up quicker because the newcomers don't suspect a pubstomping every match. Fighting with your friends one match and then against your friends the next match gets very interesting.

Not to mention scrambling was introduced along side slot swapping which is so very convenient, but most of all they made scrambling optional, which helped me realize how truly considerate they are as a gaming company.

Long story short, I <3 Muse. (Muse is also my favorite musical group)

Feedback and Suggestions / The Anglean Republic
« on: December 22, 2013, 12:35:54 am »
"Buried beneath the snow is an old world perfectly preserved.  The Angleans have made the structures of past civilizations their homes, reveling at mysterious murals and objects that scatter the landscape and float in a case of crystalline ice.  They have even managed to revive some of the found machines and reverse engineer crude automatons to do their work.  Realizing the power of the black smoke that their ancestral machines produce, the Republic hunts down relics from the past in an attempt to restore the world to its former glory.

The northern wastelands are a dearth of undiscovered technologies but the Angleans know that there is more to be found.  The harsh realities of living in the arctic drive them to be resourceful, but most importantly unforgiving and ferocious, when it comes to finding hospitable lands.  A show of their mighty airships and smoking contraptions is usually enough but the Republic isn’t just about show either.  The Angleans take what they seek.

A magnificent way of life is hidden away in the rusted technology.  To truly understand the machine is to unlock wealth and resources for everyone—to finally melt the ice.

Unlock the past, ensure the future."

I must say, The Anglean Republic is just so my style. I have two suggestions for them that may or may not already be implemented, but I would just be so... in love with MUSE if they made it so.

#1. Since they are a ruthless relic hunting people from the cold northern regions I suggest that they mostly wear grey WWI German style uniforms, gas masks, fighter pilot coats. I just think that would be so ridiculously cool.. it's hard to comprehend.

#2. They do mercenary work for other factions in exchange for relics. That would be badass.

Feedback and Suggestions / ~Ghost Airships & Nighttime~
« on: November 27, 2013, 11:41:34 pm »
Adventure Mode should have Ghost Airships flying around at night (If there is a night/day difference), which I believe there should be. It could be glowly.. and translucent. Drifting slowly in the distant darkness over a... castle or dark forest.

The Pit / Why is it so dead online tonight? (1:20 AM Pacific 11-27-2013)
« on: November 27, 2013, 04:24:43 am »
I logged in tonight and there were only two 2v2 games going on and only one of them was full, plus a total of 25 silent lobbysitters. So basically only 50 people in the entire world are playing at the moment. I know Thanksgiving is a day and a half away and Black Friday is soon, but none of those are happening now.

So what gives?

Feedback and Suggestions / Omni-Class Items (Special Crew Tools)
« on: November 18, 2013, 06:32:47 am »
'Ello! My suggestion is a single new item slot that will allow every player (no matter the class) to bring 1 extra tool with them that isn't specifically for Pilot, Engineer, or Gunner.

This suggestion was inspired by the fact that the Spyglass doesn't necessarily fit in with the rest of the other items in the Pilot class. It's the only visible handheld item as well as the only item that doesn't effect the ship directly. Not to mention its awfully hard to use while steering, which makes it not that useful for pilots. It's just taking up a slot because the crew is supposed to do the spotting anyway.

Therefore I believe it should be made into an [Omni-Class] item that should be placed in an omni-class item slot. An item slot made for a variety of fun, useful, and specialized tools such as:

Spyglass (For sure)
Fog Goggles? (Sounds fun)
Night-vision Goggles? (Awesome!)
...Flare gun? (Muse said no)
...Pistol? (You're funny)
...A Pet Parrot? (That's an item?)
...Playing Card Deck? (Why?)
...Because. (You're supposed to be making a list)
...That's right.. uhh.. A Sword? (You're dumb)
...Handheld Compass? (Sounds pretty cool)

...This thing? (Sure...?)
...A Bottle of Rum? (I like that)
...Grenades to Throw at Ships? (Not bad)
...Longcat? (Is too long!)
...A Spanner? (We already have that!)
...or......... (What?)

...This? (Perfect!)

Discuss.

General Discussion / The uh... Cakes, Banners and Fireworks...
« on: November 09, 2013, 01:10:26 am »
Do we really have to wait for the next update for them to disappear? The 1 year anniversary is over and it's just causing lag. They look OK, it's just I think its causing needless extra lag and possibly confusing new players and leading them to think the game is a joke.

General Discussion / Choose your weapon...
« on: October 30, 2013, 11:35:56 pm »
'Ello, this forum thread is about the "What-Ifs" of Boarding/Person-To-Person Combat in Adventure Mode. I do fully know Muse Games isn't adding Boarding/Person-To-Person Combat to the current Team Deathmatch version of Guns of Icarus and I also don't want them to either! I did read the entire page as to why they won't and it's a very good call to not do it.

This is only for curiousity's sake that I'd like see what choices people would make when setting up their extra Boarding/Person-To-Person Combat classes. It was only I in my own spare time that came up with these ideas that Muse Games may or may not acknowledge or implement into Adventure Mode. They may implement any of these ideas without crediting me if they wish.

Idea 1: I believe they would add 3 more class to develop the Person-To-Person combat system:
Swordsman, Marksman, and Medic. (Which one would you choose?)

Idea 2: A Swordsman, Marksman, and a Medic would each get 3 equipment slots to customize their equipment just as Captains, Gunners, and Engineers do. Allowing them to bring in different styles of swords, guns, and medical supplies for each possible specialized and advantageous use.

Idea 3: Solely Swordsman: A Swordsman could choose to bring in a selection of Steampunk styled/Historical long bladed weapons, such as: Cutlasses, Sabres, Rapiers, Scimitars, Wakizashis, Daggers, Dirks, Main Gauches - All Close-ranged weapons, each having their own attack speeds and damage output. All appropriate for specific situations. (Which would you choose, and why?)

Idea 4: Solely Marksman: A Marksman could choose to bring in a selection of Steampunk styled firearms to choose from, such as: Pistols, Shotguns, Rifles. Some may be Fully Automatic/Semi-Automatic/Single shot/Breech loading/Muzzle loading - All of them with varying range, accuracy, and damage output and all of them appropriate for a specific situation. (Which would you choose, and why?)

Idea 5: Solely Medic: A Medic would have to customize his medical equipment slots very carefully to ensure the survival and well-being of his fellow crew mates. He may bring a variety of Bandages, Casts, and Sewing kits that heal wounds at different rates, or bring drugs, such as a Steampunk syringes loaded with Morphine to buff his crew mates' pain resistance. Possibly some alcohol, such as moonshine to boost crew mate damage output at the cost of some of their health, or some Smelling salts and a Defibrillator to get them back up on their feet after being knocked down.
(Which would you choose, and why?)

Gimme all yer opinions.  ;D

Feedback and Suggestions / New Game Type - Duel Matches
« on: October 28, 2013, 05:08:06 pm »
It has come to my attention that a LOT of people have a very hard time dealing with stacking in Team Deathmatch. I personally don't mind stacking nor really being stacked against at all, because superior teamwork is superior teamwork, which equals superior firepower and superior firepower is definitely superior firepower. 2 is greater than 1 and always has been, hence the power of stacking.

So I have a simple and fun solution to this - but first let me say I do not believe that new players and experienced players should be divided, segregated, or separated by any means. Not only would that make finding matches slower, but it wouldn't even make a difference, because many "New" players are just experienced players on a new account. Not that I think Muse would do that... heh  ;D... I just know many people think they want that, but it won't help them.

I believe the best solution is the one that's the most simple.. fun.. smooth.. and realistic.. The way this entire game basically is, and thats why I adore it. Instead of using a mathematical system to separate and scramble higher level players and lower level players to avoid Team Stacking, just offer a Duel Matches option, right below Team Deathmatch.

Duel Matches! 1v1! Just 2 players needed! Games are easy to start, fill, and find! Team Stacking is not possible! Test your solo skill! 2 airships go in, 1 airship comes out!
