I used to play Scratches, this music instantly reminded me of that game. Really creepy, good atmosphere, I could easily envision a scary game scene while listening to it.

I think I have that game somewhere but haven't played it, but will check it out!

The Lounge / Re: What did you name your ship and why?

Goldfish: Hercules, because Hercules is fantastic. That's really the only reason.

Galleon: Minotaur, due to its size and power.

Pyramidion: Die Nachtigall (The Nightingale), as I am really, really into German Romantic poetry. An Die Nachtigall is one of my favorite poems (and settings by Schubert and Brahms).

Spire: HMS Apfelbaum, as it is shaped like one. If a 4 year old drew one, that is.

Mobula: Letzte Hoffnung (Last Hope), because, again, it's a fantastic poem (Wilhelm Müller) and the Mobula I can rarely use unless I'm playing with my regular crews.

Junker: Liebentflammten.  Despite the fact it's just an adjective, it runs with the whole Romantic setting the other ships are named in (love-enflamed).

The Lounge / Completely shameless musical promotion (yay).

Hey everyone.

It's time for some really, really shameless self-promotion. I am a musician (though I want to eventually do sound design), doing multiple things.  Last year I was commissioned to do music for an indie game, which I'll link once it is developed.

So, on my reverbnation I've posted 2 of the tracks from it. There are others, some of which are on my youtube account, but here's the link to my reverbnation: www.reverbnation.com/angusmacnaughton

If you could give the tunes a listen that'd be awesome, especially if you can give some feedback.

Some info on the game:
It was called Anxiety originally but with Slender: Anxiety released a few days ago that's changed to something else?  The game is set in a pseudo-Victorian, Germanic setting, on a smallish Island.  Following the brutal deaths of the Lord of the Isle, Lord Forbes, and his family, the character (an investigator person) is sent out to this island to try and report on what happened.  Fairly creepy atmosphere, with huge murder mystery plot.

There's also a multiplayer mode which is like Cluedo, but I really don't know much more haha. I'll update if people are interested and I find out exactly the plot and everything.

The Lounge / Re: That Moment When...

That moment when an engineer comes onto the crew after a disastrous match (the pilot disconnected), then pronounces in his 12 year old voice "I'm only here for an achievement and once I get it I'm leaving the match, noobs". Wah.

Well considering we had a squid with all harpoons, yeah that was a fun match :P

Combine that with all pilots and you've got a super setup.

Maybe we could have a leveling system that rewards classes. Engies must be level 3 before unlocking gunner, and then gunners must reach level 2 before gaining pilot. This would ensure that by the time someone was pilot, they would understand how to work together.

This is a nice idea but I don't think this would ever work.  Obviously I'm a beginner to the game, but in the hours I've done so far I've worked out I am a terrible pilot but I can gun and engineer well. If there were restrictions, I wouldn't be able to work that out as easily and thus hone the skills I need. It would just add unnecessary frustration when looking for crews - literally everyone in the beginner games would be engineers.

I don't think so. Requesting un-merge. I wouldn't listen to chillstep during a Guns game.

"Fitting Music" should be about tracks that you would play while playing guns of icarus online, while "What music are you listening to?" should be about music in general, not just for guns.

This is true.  I somehow don't see myself casually firing away whilst listening to Steve Coleman.

Screw the elephant, what the hell is that?!

That's what love looks like.

Or Cthulhu-like monster.

Either or.

Currently listening to a lot of Steve Coleman style jazz/funk, power metal such as Gloryhammer (which everyone should check out. Ridiculously good), and glam metal (do not judge too much).

Also having to listen to a lot of early opera (Purcell, Monteverdi etc.) for some music-specific essays I need done, fun times.  On top of that, I have to be listening to a range of jazz and atonal music for an essay on music during the Weimar period to the end of the Third Reich, which is actually very interesting.
