The Sassy Sailor Squadron

In-game name of Captain: Melon McCrabernathy (CrabSANTA on Steam)

[Alternative contact: Mepic Von Shreck (gusmacnaughty on Skype)]

Registering for only ONE ship to be played on BOTH the 28th and 29th.

Do I need to include the names of the crew?

I can't delete the content of this, but this has since changed. We may have an 8 person Cake team instead.

Q&A / Re: Will there be more classes?
« on: December 27, 2013, 11:29:11 am »
actually i think there might be room for a support class on the ships i,e ''lookout'' a person on the ship with a spyglass, range finder buff hammer and one gunner equipment spot

You can do that as a pilot already.

Gameplay / Re: Ship Customization

Sounds like you are in a beginner/novice lobby, which locks you to a couple boats and preset loadouts for them. Try joining non-beginner games (at your own risk of course) to be able to pick your loadouts. This was added to help new players along and avoid "bad" loadouts like all harpoons.

Shreck beat me to it. Oh well.

You cannot change the ship loadouts if you are playing in Novice games.  Make sure you change the Novice field to "No" when searching for games.

Alternatively, make sure you click "Save(or whatever it is) Customisation" at the bottom right of the ship screen.

Fortunately I missed it, but there are still remnants of some dreadful chat in the global chat. One of the Pewdiepie fanboys was on my crew just now though, had no idea what he was doing but after a few helpful hints he ended up being a decent engi.

However, looking at global chat, there needs to be at least some kind of cleanup...

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Mic/No Mic matches

I think a better option would be a strong emphasis in the beginning of the game about the importance of having/using vocal communication. There is no real indication at all that it is even needed.

Actually, I agree with this far more.

The Docks / Re: Hey there GoI! Do you like Cake?
« on: December 22, 2013, 09:35:53 am »
After flying with you wonderful people on a number of occasions, I wish to join.

I must say, the times I have flown on full-Cake ships, it's been the best fun I've ever had on GOI.

How do I go about joining? I have flown, as I've said, with Cakes before (Piemanlives, Domdomdodo, Andika etc.)

And take into consideration that the higher you get the more ppl actually have and use a mic.
Im quite experienced player but not that experienced as pilot.
I barely talk when i fly cause i concentrate on what i do rather than talk alot.
I stick to basic needs and concentrate rather than talk all the time.

In Novice games ppl barely use their mics or dont have one but in higher lvl games you normally get guys with mics.

I know this. The people I was flying with were in the 100s of matches played... I never go onto novice games.

This is why the "Either" option would exist. I just find that without communication, it's very, very frustrating.

I've been playing a lot of Civ V. I won with a cultural victory, but all the AI were being really mean to me and kept denouncing me so I've decided to steam roll them with my giant death robots. Take that, Attila and the Iroquois guy!

Fact: Hiawatha (Iroquois guy) and Catherine of Russia will always be dicks.

Yeah, the remaining civs were those two, Atilla, and a Viking. So I guess them being dicks is expected.

Gandhi being a dick (especially with respect to nuking you for no reason) is actually a jokey reference to the first Civ game, where a bug lead to Ghandi being incredibly aggressive.

I always found Civ IV to be better, especially with AI... No denying that V looks amazing though.
Diplomatic victories all the way though.
