The Pit / MORG Gaming Nights

Yo.

We're all aware of how high the female population in Goio is, and although we do love the ladies it sometimes can get a bit frustrating. Men, after all, need to spend some time every now and then doing manly stuff away from female company. As such, there's been the idea of organizing a male-only invitational event, directed towards only the most testosterone-filled members of goio community. To ensure every participant's enjoyment a few ground rules and requirements for potential applicants have to be set;

  • Only people with an average hair body density of 10 hair/cm2 allowed.
  • Must yell a lot, punch stuff in anger whenever losing and make forced sex jokes at least once a minute.
  • Must be confident in own genitalia size and possibly brag about it in public.
  • Must be into sports. (tennis, volley, chess and the like do not count).
  • Must drink scotch and smoke cigars on a daily basis and preferrably during events.
  • Muscles are not a must but are definitely a plus. Moustache can work as an alternative, bonus points for full-grown beards.
  • Must enjoy pornographic material.
  • Strictly straight-only. If not, at least act like it.
  • Any word of cooking and shopping (exluding arms) will result to an irrevokable permanent ban from our little community.

Possible activities we can do as a group and additional rules are open to discussion.

General Discussion / Re: Best/Worst parts of Guns of Icarus

Best: super high skill ceiling

Worst: super low average skill

How about instead of major damage + force over a minimum duration of 3 seconds, they instead applied force and caused damage exponentially with time? (low damage, small vertical force when first tapped, with both increasing faster as time used increases)

That way they would gain the saught-after by many utility of working as minor vertical mobility enhancers if a pilot just taps them on/off or switches between the two, causing damage that's easy to maintain- but could still function as panic buttons if held down for longer, resulting in about as much damage and lift force in 3 seconds as current versions.

Obvious side-effect is they couldn't be simultaneously used with other pilot tools.

My personal opinion is that although SCS has to maintain a slightly more traditional and formulated role, spicing things up with some experimentation couldn't possibly hurt.

Truth is the game can become pretty stale after a while, due to the limited content, and us being especially limited to only the (admitably few) 2v2 DM maps can make things even worse. I think we should definitely try adding Labyrinth to the map pool. Sure, it revolves around a vastly different strategy but even DM maps promote specific ships and strategies albeit to a lesser degree.

If people dislike the idea, we can always just remove it and never discuss it again. If people do like it, however, we could even experiment with throwing Scrap into the map pool, with the extra 2 ships being neutrally piloted to the never-visited corners of the map, far away from the action. Hazard and Firnfeld's size (and them being DM) make them too far-fetched to propose, but man can only hope that muse eventually makes a 2v2 variation for those.

Until then, though, I think we should make use of whatever we have available to keep the event challenging and interesting both to play and watch.

Speaking of disable, pyra guns are funny in that they are placed in a weird almost blind spot when heading dead on at the bridge. It is easy to miss the angle and hit the bridge instead, only getting the guns with secondary damage.

Yet another advantage of the pyra! OP.

While junkers, spires, galleons, fish have giant targets painted on their guns.

Junkers spires and galleons all have MORE guns though.

Everyone forgot the pls buff goldfish threads after they became fashionable again.

This. Few months ago people were whining on how OP junker is. According to Urz mobula and goldfish were at the bottom of the ship potential list and in need of an immediate buff. Today people are asking for a Junker buff and a carronade nerf because carrofish is OP.
The so-called meta isn't written in stone. Don't like it? Change it. Some things will always be easier to play compared to others, doesn't necesserily mean they're unbeatable or too good. Complaining on a different set of ships/guns every couple of months depending on what is popular is just silly and counter-productive both for you and the game in general.

In that vein - maps with overhead obstructions, possibly some sort of absolutely massive cave system (complete with stalactites and stalagmites - think putting an upside down canyon ambush on top of the current one) would be great.

Esp if it was poorly lit, so flares would have to be used generously and be more strategic, in place of having clouds for cover.

I was thinking the exact same thing. A 2-layer map, like e.g. Canyon Ambush on the surface except those holes in the ground (like tunnel entrances, you can see many of them outside the playable map borders) would be accessible and even lead to an underground cave system that can be traversed by the smaller ships. Just imagine the possibilities; waterfall covered entrances for ambushes, huge stalagmites/stalactites to use for cover and hide behind, hidden routes you can use to sneak up behind enemies :>

Gilder each post of yours regarding balance is considerably more hilarious than the previous one :D
At this point I'm not even sure what game you're imagining you're playing while in GoIo.

Feedback and Suggestions / Spotting mines
« on: July 19, 2014, 04:09:48 pm »
Allow the spyglass to temporarily spot/mark a mine for a short duration, informing the pilot of its' position. Maybe something like a red version of the usual ship spot?

As for the guy saying GwTh will be seeded second if they lose vs Rydr on twitch yesterday; I don't believe this is or should be the case. GwTh do have less kills than Rydr at the moment, but their kills/match is higher. So if this doesn't change with the last match GwTh are still being seeded first even with a loss.

Am I not correct?

Next competitive events being CP, lolno.

Labyrinth being inserted into the map pool for competitive 2v2 events, hell yes.
