Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Squid Buff Suggestion
« on: April 14, 2013, 06:38:35 am »
Pyramidion with double greased mortars just evaporated other ships it came in close enough in 1.1.3 TBH.  Mortar should get better turning speed and better arc of fire tho.
Once 1.1.6 comes out, squid should have much easier time with changes to thrust simulation. Other ships will accelerate much slower - we might even see Pyra start fallin out of favour. Current model does not take ship's mass into the account (Pyra is with 300t second heaviest ship, just asfter the Galleon with 400t - Squid on the other hand has only 50t) - and it should.

That's three replacements, not four, and those are three good players

Grayknight was replacing Skrimskraw(1), Captain Lockhear was replacing Greyknight (2), Vattic and Phoebe were replacing SushiDemon and NaterRavenclaw (3&4) hence effectively 4 replacements. As for quality of replacements: I never said they were bad players. It just takes some practice to get best teamwork. It wouldn't help us if we got Smollet, If we didn't click well.

5-0 for MNS for those infortunate to have been just on a loo break :P

Anyway well Played Admiral Zill and Merry Northeren storm - obviously you got a better read on us than we had on you - the tactics we had been practicing were best suited against diffirent ships.

I wish we could have given you a better fight that we could, but we have had find some last minute replacements  (we had efectively 4 replacements) - wo got to a point of desperation where we have had asked Satchmo for help (of all the people). We have been lucky for getting help of Count Havelock, Phoebe and Vattic  - thank all of you. Don't think we are blaming you - it is just that we weren't fully used to one other and optimally synchonised (witch comes from constant practice together, witch you can't expect from last moment standins).

Blame is also partialy on me, for not comunicating the ammount of damage the Hawacha does to a hull without armor (something I've been noticing afor a while now, but somehow assumed captains knew - long story). If twin hawacha hits you without armor it takes about half permahull on pyra.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Spawn System Rules
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:27:03 am »
3v3 do often have spawn problems, but if you get caought in 3v1 there is nothing you or any spawn system can do.
The sawn points have to be pre-defined. Problem snot the distance, but the fact that sometimes 2 ships from sthe same team spawn on the opposite corners of the map, and that's the issue.

The Lounge / Re: What did you name your ship and why?
« on: March 02, 2013, 04:13:07 am »
My ships mostly have fun names

goldfish: Nike - it is the name I allways put to my "Flagship" and is named after ancient greek alegory of Victory

junker: Flaming Bedrolls - this name comes from a d&d related story of someone who kept throwing flaming bedrolls at people - the junker's baloon looks like a huge bedroll and it looks very flamable

pyramidion: Unsung Hero (full name: Unsing Hero (now with 400% more spears!) ) - this ship had the default name for the longest time, and when friends from King's Gambit start calling my junker Unsing Hero I suddenly had a great name, but I didn't want to rename the Flaming Bedrolls

spire: Flying Snail - sort of reminds me of a snail - with the baloon being the shell and hull being the body.

galleon: Cheeseburgers (long name: Can I Have Cheeseburgers plx? ) - galleon is probably the cheesiest ship in the game

squid: Parvus Major - it was originaly called Drunken Fish, becouse it handles like it's drunken (due to its extremely high radial acceleration), but for sake of clarity (ie. to prevent missunderstandings); the current name comes form a very common European and central-Asian bird species: Great Tits

Gameplay / Re: Wind on Water Hazard

I think you get used to it - first few times I've hda simmilar issues. That said they should probably add another pilot tool, that would be usable everywhere, so engineer and gunner would have a choice of 2 useful tools: a syglass and a wind gauge.

Quick voice commands in various languages (each person would hear the clip in the language the have set) to mittigate language barriers issues.

As for Kicking: MUSE have considered it and thought about it, and then decided against Kisk option.

ALSO: lol Port And Starboard - I'll likely never use them, becouse I'm sort dyslectic when it comes left and right, and sometimes i have problems even with that.

Gameplay / Re: Balance Concerns & Questions 1.1.4

Aww but like pooping the ballons with harpoons (pun intended ^_^). No more of that?

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: A fix for Fire, and Flamethrowers.
« on: March 01, 2013, 07:12:28 pm »
As a experienced engineer I can tell you, before 1.1.4 patch the flame thrower was such weak nusiance I ignored flames (5sec repair CD on extinguisher) on everything but Baloon and guns.
Being flamed now is certainly more annoying than before, but still nothing like pre yesterday's balance hotfix Banshe and Manticore (not even close to the being in the same league as those two).

As for flamer only being good against greenhorns - not realy. Gatling-Flamer Pyra can still take out Galleons from befind like nobody's buinsess (tested with a great team, including an infamous captain on the galleon).

« on: March 01, 2013, 06:53:39 pm »
Get behind me (while on my galleon) with you squid, and 5 times out 10 I'll crush you on my hull, and the rest of the times I'll catapult you fowards toward my sides (assuming I don't miss the hull).

While harpoon only matches can be a lot of fun, they are actualy a really bad display of harpoon's usefullness (too many harpoons = chaos).

I dunno for now, but for a while changing class midgame didn't work. Getting wrong crew mix is frustrating, but you try to do with what you have (but wish for 1 pilot 1 gunner 2 engi crew).

People that don't jump-to when I tell them to do something AND don't at the same time tell me why they can't. That tends to tick me off.

If I'm a captain and give orders during ship-ship combat scenario, I expect my crew to either do it OR tell me tey can't (and what reason for). I'm reasonable. If you don't know where the said thing is for example, I'll probably be exasperated a bit if we are getting shot at, but I'll either send somebody else to do it or show you where it is.

No excuse for hitting the ballon instead of hull (or vice versa) with easy weapons (like gattling and carrorade) -except maybe not being entirely used of the ammo used (heavy or incendiary ammo for example).

Tactical use of harpoon can work miracles in game as it is. You can ise it to ram other ships into you or you can use them to slingshot enemies into terains of to slingshoy yourself fast into a new direction (the stuff you can see in the wailing matches).
Maybe ad another weapon for your ideas instead.

There actually is an FAQ that mentions stuff like boarding. Maybe Muse should post it on the forum and sticky it.

I allways assumed forum Mods can actualy STICKY topics.

Also maby update the FAQ a bit as well, at least stings not related to gameplay (like Linux availybility and supported distributions, possible package dependancies and minimum kernell version or something)

Thanks, Skrimskraw. By the way, are you guys from KG going to show up? You guys made it pretty clear you weren't happy with the current system. Have you changed your mind on anything?

We have no idea about KG intentions or their KGMS tournament group (King's Gambit Mercenary Squadron). What happened between us and KG does not pertain to this topic and is well, between us and KG (might be a discussion for later in another topic, but certainly not now).
That said I was in KG prorably the most lenient to COGs and most willing to give it a try. I went with Urz and Scrimscraw to our tournament group, becouse I saw an oppurtunity to do just that.

ALSO: I hope you manage to pull yourself back together :)
