i dunno about unique customization's, but i think it'd be cool to have a different look for each faction. like a Yesha ship would have a Chinese style, and a... i just now realize i don't know much about any of the other factions. but judging from the costumes/ships theres a faction thats fairly well off and orderly, and their ships would be well put together, like the mobula.

No, but its on my "to read" list. Karen Travis wrote those right? I've heard...mixed things about her, both as a person and as an author. but then again she's pretty much solely responsible for the Mandalorians being badass, lord knows that Boba and Jango didn't help.

i was really looking forward to having more options for my goldfish and galleon.

Now that i really think about it, i suppose balancing heavy weapons has to be hell, conventional thought says that since they're heavy, they need to do more damage, and of the 3 ships that can carry them, only one needs any help.

i love/hate you all for introducing me to Steam Powered Giraffe, I've had them playing pretty much nonstop since yesterday.

oh and on topic, as i play more GoI i find my love of fire weapons growing, almost to the level of you [Cake] people. dual banshee pyra with flare and flamer on the side, dual flamer pyra, shotgun/flamer goldfish, flame/mort junker, they're all so much fun!

i saw the thread title and expected to agree with the OP, but after reading the thread i find that i disagree completely.

to put it simply your proposed system of getting rid of dicks relies on people not being dicks. how many "bad players" will make it past this system because most people just give out commendations after a match no matter what, how many "good players" will have their access to experienced lobby's revoked?

this idea is awful and would only destroy this games already small player base.

That moment in Paritan Rumble when you're getting hammered by a Mobula and his friend, you retreat into a tight space and the Mobula is too filled with bloodlust to realize that it wont fit.

That moment when you see an enemy ship going to ram you, you tense up and then they burst into splinters all over you.

so, first up we have my gunner, i'm still working on him, but for now, i enjoy his vaguely Borderlands psycho-ness.
then we have my favorite, the engineer, he's a steampunk cowboy!
and finally the pilot, i have to assume his outfit is pretty standard, but i enjoy it, and the pink goggles add some personality.

so, today i got sick of sometimes accidentally dismounting the helm when i want to speed up or not having enough fingers to turn, slow down/speed up and ascend/descend at the same time, so i changed throttle up to left mouse button and throttle down to right mouse button and holy crap did it improve my flying.

so that got me wondering, how many of you have played around with the key bindings? is what i've done common?

Well, I suppose that's the life of the swabbie. But why do you think newbies join as gunners? Because they want to shoot stuff. You get to shoot stuff as an engie on most beginner ships anyway, since I've heard most beginner matches are loaded with Pyras. You're just a more effective (in most cases) crewmember as an engie. I feel like it's just a matter of pride that makes people not want to change from being a gunner since you'd be doing the same stuff as an engie, just more effective. At least in beginner matches.


no, engi's get to HOPE they get to shoot, which causes fighting over who's on a gun and who's repairing, which often leads to no one repairing at all.

i have in the past, and its usually met with them asking me to leave. and before anyone asks, no, i don't join as a second gunner, and i'm not the type to spite someone by simply staying in the lobby when i'm not wanted there, i just move on to the next quick start lobby, where i either get the same reaction or the ships already have gunners, rinse and repeat 3 or 4 more time, then i either rage quit or switch to pilot

and just to be clear, i have no ill will towards the ducks, they are simply the only physical target i can point to, my experience has largely been in PUGs, as i said, i've been stuck one achievement away from leveling for weeks, its not even a hard achievement, i just need to win 5 match's.

i actually understand why they want engineers rather than a gunner, with a little extra coordination you get everything a gunner can bring to the table, AND extra engi tools. its the fact that the mechanics of the game cause this sort of reaction in its community that's frustrating me. imagine being new to the game again, whats the class that everyone is going to want to play? its the gunner, and then you get people insulting you for picking that class, telling you to play a class that you probably have no idea how to play, i couldn't tell you how many newcomers i've taught how to engi in the last 3 weeks.

Something really needs to be done about the gunner Vs engineer balance issues. i've been one achievement away from leveling up my gunner for weeks now, but due to the communities hostility towards gunners i just can't get it, not once, not twice, but three time in the last week have the DUCKS forced me to quit out of match's because i wanted to play a gunner, and i'm not talking about jumping into matchs already happening, i mean going into a lobby, the last time i was on a ship alone waiting for people to pop in and a couple of them got on and demanded i switch. if this is how the community reacts to somebody playing one of three classes how do you expect to keep new players past the first day?

Super power: Imperviousness, because the visualization of being hit by a semi at 60+ MPH and just skipping across the ground and then getting up and dusting myself off is awesome.
