Gameplay / Re: Kerosene vs Moonshine vs Phoenix Claw
« on: June 17, 2013, 01:48:58 pm »
I've only used Moonshine as a last second anti turn tool for a ram. Stopping from a sharp turn just takes practice without having to bring moonshine. Kerosene seemed to be helpful fire both map movement and maneuverability in battle. Using moonshine is risky thanks to its high engine damage.

I almost always use kerosene and Phoenix claw on all of my ships with either tar, hydrogen, vent, or rarely impact bumpers if I'm feeling ram-y.

Gameplay / Re: Where is a "Ramming guide"?

I've wanted to build a Pyramidion just for ramming. Two gats up front, kerosene, moonshine, impact bumpers, and only on 3v3/4v4. I'm a Ram happy pilot, and though it's screwed me many times, I'm getting better. It's all about timing, gotta ram right after their armor is down. Can you continue to ram and push them away from whatever they were doing?

I've found poking (what I like to call it) to work best when you have an ally already attacking the Pokee.

Gameplay / Re: Harpoon Cables.

I figure the Harpoon would be more effective if pooning a ship didn't make it impossible to turn. Say you stick one on the front of a Pyramidion, wouldn't that make it so the front of your ship would almost always point at whatever was hooked? Right now it just seemed like it turns off your side engines.

Gameplay / Re: Spire Discussion.
« on: June 17, 2013, 12:30:02 pm »
What I like about the Spire is that even though a Galleon has an extra heavy weapon on its side, a Spire can approach an enemy in a straight line while still firing on it.

I like the easier to rebuild armor idea, or just any armor/hull buff. Comparing it to the Goldfish is silly in terms of maneuverability. A Spire, in my opinion, should have better armor/hull than a Goldfish since the fishy is so much faster. As for its brawling capabilities, a Pyramidion and Junker also have better maneuverability. In a one on one fight, even if a Spire has an upper hand if its buffed, it certainly is not going to be as versatile as the other ships (in a point match, for instance).

I think the Spire should be the best ship of its role, while being weaker in others.

Gameplay / Re: Engagement length

Why not just decrease the clip size? Not by a whole bunch of course, but perhaps enough that gunners would want to bring ammo that would increase its capacity.

Frankly, before they eventually nerf it, I think they'll have released another piercing weapon.

Q&A / Re: Other Options other than the tried and tested Gat/Flak
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:20:05 am »
I've used a Field gun and Flak combo on the front of my Pyramidion. From a long distance you can take out their engines and  peel away their armor as your approaching. By the time their armor is down, you're in range for your Flak to finish them off, or a good ram if that doesn't work. If your front gunners are good shots, you should be able to obliterate anything but a Galleon in a single approach.
