I feel half ashamed/half proud to have gotten to my current Pilot rank just by doing all pilot games...

This title is highly misleading when read from the Index page, haha. Still, I'll miss the fireworks- bring them back for Christmas?

The Pit / Re: The Top Hat Council
« on: November 06, 2013, 03:43:52 pm »
Hmm, if I recall the Act of Tilting (135 AB) by the Attire Assembly:

' A top hat should be worn no more askew than 30 degrees- further tilt compromises the stability of the hat, and threatens embarrassment. Furthermore, one shall be considered a rascal and a lout if any more than 27 degrees is taken. It is in this Assembly's view that the wearable range of a top hat should be from 3 to 23 degrees, to avoid negative remarks completely.'

However, if we reference the publications of John Tuxington (When in Vyshtorg, circa 197AB) , he concludes the tilt depends on, and displays, a person's social stature and age:

'Taken on average, the top hat decreases in tilt the older the wearer is- this may be a necessary change, as due to the increase of length (clearly the man must increase in wealth and therefore buy finer, and larger, hats) the angle must be reduced to retain stability. However, such conclusions ignore the blatant contrast in tilt seen in our youth and our seasoned. Youths can be seen with tilts of up to 25 degrees, with the average pertaining around 22. On the other hand, the most experienced among us can be seen at anywhere between 7-2 degrees, with a minimum recorded of 0- however, in this case it was assumed by all present that the elderly fellow felt the need to compensate for one of his appendages.'

I'll continue my research further, but nothing has been written closer to our time period, it would seem.

Lordy, is this the thread for me.

Merc Up - Parody of 'Word Up' by Cameo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZjAantupsA)

So many players around the world
Got a weird thing to show you,
So tell all the boys and girls.
Tell your Gunner, your Captain
And Engie too, cause they’re
About to go down
And you’ll know just what to do.

Shoot your guns in the air
Like you don’t care, glide by
The players as they start to stomp and swear.
Got one chance, got once chance, got once chance quick
Mama, come on baby, tell me where’s
The Merc, ah – Merc up,
Everybody say when you hear the drums
You got to shoot it straight away,
Merc up, it’s the code word,
No matter where you say it,
You’ll know that you’ll be heard.

Now all you sucker CAs
Who think you’re fly
There’s got to be a reason
And we know the reason why.
You try to fire off those flares
And act real cool
But you got to realise
That you’re acting like fools.
If you can Muse it we can use it
We got one chance.
We don’t have that time
For metalogical balance
No balance
No balance
No balance for me mama
Come on baby tell me where’s the Merc.
Ah – Merc up,
Everybody say when you hear the drums
You got to shoot it straight away.

Dial “P” for pro...
Come on, all you people say...
Merc up – Merc up

Also, I suggest we might want to set a song for everybody to make a parody of, and then compare afterwards. Would make a lot of interesting variations

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Tutor/Pupil system
« on: October 24, 2013, 07:42:37 pm »
Hmm, I'd be wary of dropping the level cap to 6 to be a tutor- especially in terms of engie, but more so when concerning gunner. A number of players are rushing achievements and getting to these levels pretty quickly, resulting in (anecdotally seen this several times) mid-levels performing as typical low-levels, such as rebuilding the hull with a mallet- the achievement system is not a direct reflection on knowledge of the game. There's also the question of communication, and whether the person would be an effective in their methods of teaching, such as usage of voice chat etc.

I suggest to do it by hours as each class, rather than achievements. I'm still thinking over the exact boundaries, but it's a more reliable measure than achievements. You could have a dual boundary, such as you have to have X hours in each class to teach at all, and Y hours in the class you want to teach, with Y being a higher value, naturally.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: If you're here, who's flying the ship?
« on: September 24, 2013, 12:56:35 pm »
Hmm, I'm in two minds about the entire system. On the one hand it's good to have a clear display of a leave count, and I can see that the intent was to discourage leaving. For the whole, this should be a good measure.

However, personally this brings me a lot of havoc- as some may know my internet is incredibly shoddy, cutting out whenever it feels like it. Dropping connection just before a game ended yesterday was a little infuriating, as the entire idea of a CA with numbers on the leave count is ridiculous- it's one of those things that shouldn't happen, and seeing a CA with numbers discredits the entire program. It'd be a touch better if the leave count was increased via a voluntary disconnect- pressing 'Exit Match, Exit Game' etc. or quitting the game on your desktop. As a side note, I fully support the idea that a CA should be able to rack up leaves, even more so than normal players. That and my limited understanding of Unity means I'm unsure of the difficulty of changing the leave count criteria.

Memories and reborn, that's a no-brainer for me. Having such a scope of knowledge from day one would be incredible- besides the relationships you formed with friends, you'd have a giant 'Reset' button on your life, while retaining the knowledge of your regrets and mistakes. Actually, this isn't a half bad social commentary, if you asked said person if they had any regrets after their second life.
