When I was new I found that fighting bots was not very engaging, as you do in the current novice lobbies... This is likely a major reason why new crew and pilots try to strike it out in non-novice lobbies. I feel that new players would appreciate a low level only (1-14 maybe?) PVP lobby where new players can experiment with ships and get their blades bloodied.

Maybe also adventurous players should still be able to unlock ships even in this PVP novice lobby, say if they really want to get a head start on their goldfish piloting.

I like the immersion aspect!

Maybe if this idea gets approved we can even have red and green port and starboard lights!

Is it a good idea to have some markers for friendly ships similar but not identical to those that spotted enemy ships get?

When I was new I found it very hard to locate my ally until I learned the compass also showed position of ally and their relative altitude.

This would be nice! It would help new captains and new crew decide what they want to use.

It would unfortunately not, however, warn joining crew-members how difficult their captain's choice of ship is for them to crew.

I made this suggestion after playing in the DevApp where they DID buff the shrike's vertical.

(Vert top speed 17 m/s like most ships, although the vertical acceleration was at 2 m/s^2 which is lowest out of all ships)

DevApp shrike was very fun and also very powerful against anything that couldn't catch up to it and hwacha slap it.

It was berserkedly fast and could moonshine for days on end... it seemed  too strong against slow ships, but still seemed to show a lot of weakness still when forced into a face on encounter with other agile ships with hwachas (fish, storm).
It feels very polarized....
If a blocker hitbox is added, speed and accel will prolly need to stay at current level in live. (of course we still need a vertical buff.)

The shrike is infamous for how its clumped up components are easily destroyed all at once.
Would it be possible to place an explosion blocking hitbox within the middle of the shrike so that Hwachas and Artemis fire cannot disable both sides of the shrike at once?

Here are some creepy 3d examples of what I mean
Red is the proposed hitbox
Green are light guns
Yellow is heavy guns
Purple is engines
