It has been repeatedly brought up that the spire's pointy thing could be a sword of Damocles, hanging above for a chute vent goomba stomp.

This got nixed because there's no use for it. But think for just a second. It doesn't need to hit only while going down. Make it into a keel blade-like device, where you can hydrogen juke a ramming pyramidion just enough to let the bottom bit of that spire just smash through the enemy ship.

That would add an entirely different dimension to fighting a spire. You not only have to worry about the tri/quadrafecta of guns, but also beware getting counter-rammed (or even rammed muahahaha) by it.

There's very few hard-set counters to things. It's all relative to how good a shot you are and how good the pilots are. It sounds like anything that could effectively disable the carronade would give you the edge you need.

Heavy shot hwacha rounds can do a lot of damage, if you can get an opening against the ship. Hit it from the side or front and you're almost guaranteed to knock out the carronade. Plus, it's got longer range.

On a more open map, lumberjack is also a possibility, but that implies that you don't mind keeping him down from afar. Plus lumberjacks are notoriously difficult to shoot.

Drogue shoot combined with impact bumpers would definitely slow and soften the fall.

As mentioned above, a good merc shot would do the trick as well. If you can get close enough, flamers would also do the trick of disabling the carronade. But in that case you could also use a gatling gun with incendiary rounds. Those all require that the foe not have chem spray up on the foregun, though. So that could be a bit of a problem.

The Docks / Re: [SPQR] Senatus Populusque Romanus is Recruiting!

In-Game Name: Kyle Zephyr
Where You Live: Ohio, US
Preferred Class: Gunner/Pilot
What Made you Want to Join SPQR: A while back, I began looking into getting into the competitive scene. It became apparent that the best way to do this would be to join a clan. This one caught by eye in particular, because of the awesome theme. Played a few games with Jub, and talked with him about being interested. Played more games with other clan members, basically confirming to me that, if I were to join a clan, I'd pick this one. Today, he approached me to tell me that they had changed their recruitment procedure. So here I am filling this out. So hi! Look forward to flying some more with you guys.
