Go ahead, hit me! The kerosene and grease running through my veins after all these years as an engineer has destroyed my nervous system anyways, so I'll gladly take a beating from a mallet or two.

The woman walks up to Sunder, gripping her mallet. Grabbing hold of the handle with both hands, she raises it up like she was trying to ring a bell at a Strength tester at a Carnival show, and lets go with a blow that would make Thor do a double-take. The sound of the rubber head of her bludgeoning tool is like a rock hitting an empty coconut, only twice as loud.

"You all saw it! He said I could!" The woman said, stepping back to view the carnage her mighty swing had wrought.

Look, you're standing in here with one hell of a gunner, one hell of a pilot, one hell of an engineer, and Furrymessiah. You'd better stop acting tough, or you're going to regret it. That flare gun is loaded, you know.

"Hey, now wait a minute!" She said, gripping the hilt of her mallet. "You're cruisin' for some anesthetic, Sunder."

*snickers at the gal* You should be careful, them ain't exactly the friendly skies.

"You should keep that in mind y'self, friend. I'm liables to knock you so hard you forget how to hold a hammer, let alone give it a swing," She replied, giving him a smirk and an appraising glare.

Better watch yourself Psyran. I've seen what Furrymessiah can do when she's miffed. And when she's carrying her mallet, she's more furious than 20 hwachas loaded with burst rounds.

*Carries two pints of Furrymessiah's favorite cider*

Here you go. Should I add it to your tab?

"Of course, Yisk, you would know, havin' been under my mallet a time or two. Not half as hard as I've given it to Zill, but then again, he enjoys it less." Giving the man a wink, she picks up one of the pints and downs it like a man dying of thirst, setting the glass down and belching demurely. "As for the tab, go ahead. I'll pay you once my boss settles his tab with me."

With a casual swagger and a bloodstained mallet tucked into the loop on the side of...'her' coveralls, the one and only Furry saunters into the establishment. Eyes obscured with a set of jaunty goggles and her hair pinned back into a loose explosion that could be, in the loosest terms, considered a ponytail, the tall, lanky drink of water made her way up to the barkeep. Looking over the assembled patrons, her nostrils curled at the obvious perfume of equal parts desperation, machismo, and misappropriated flamer fuel.

Putting her hands palms-down on the counter, she barked a gruff laugh, then cast her gaze over at the tender. "You got cider here, chum? If y'do, I'll take two pints, and a packet of cracklin's."

The Lounge / Re: Introductions!

Hello everyone, I'm Furrymessiah. Commonly known in-game as Furry, and very rarely by the moniker Lukas to those who have cultivated an intimate friendship with me, I am your handy-dandy crossdressing, sailor-mouthed Engie, often seen skulking around with my SMAC compatriots, or otherwise filling space on Zill's ship as a Gungineer and making him mildly unsettled with my innuendo.

I was first introduced to this game by those lovable Brit goofballs at the Yogscast, only seeing TB's video long after I acquired the game. Don't hold it against me. I got the game as a Christmas present from a friend of mine (who, incidentally, didn't get the game for himself. Thanks, Steam Wishlist!), and quickly found myself enjoying the meta-game aspects of being an engineer moreso than flying or gunning. Not to say I don't do a fair bit of shooting, mind you. Nowadays I've comfortably settled into to my role aboard ships, occasionally piloting as a lark when the urge strikes me. I'm not a bad pilot, per se; I just much prefer banging on things with my mallet.

Outside of GOI, I'm a frequent watcher of a 24/7 video gaming stream (PM me for details), I read Cracked and PC Gamer, and I'm soon going to be attending college for CompSci--Networking. I'm a smoker, a social drinker, and a lover of cult movies. I enjoy music, sleeping, gourmet cooking, and swimming in the ocean.

Oh, and I'm a furry.

Q&A / Re: Questions about the ENGINEER
« on: February 23, 2013, 07:08:41 pm »
Yeah, Furrymessiah is right about that one. But if the captain doesn't respond, just make the best judgement you can.

Personally, I find it's a good idea to learn about the various damage types each gun has, study which guns the Captain has on his ship, and coordinate accordingly. Guns that have large amounts of ammunition or fire quickly (Gatling, Hwacha, Banshee) will always benefit from reduced recoil IE Heavy Clip.
It's important to analyze your opponent's ships as well. Are they harassing/debilitating builds? Are they bringing lots of flamethrowers? Are they going for the DPS? More often than not, the captain will know which ammo types to bring for which ships, but again, once you get a working knowledge of things, you can play around a bit with your loadout.

Also, don't forget: If you step out of a gun before it finishes its reload, it will return to the default ammo. Likewise, if another player goes into that gun, it will return to default ammo. However, an AI player will NOT reset the ammo type.

Your personal default ammo loadout will be up to you, but as for me, I will always keep Charged Rounds if I'm dropping into a match sight unseen. YMMV.

Q&A / Re: Questions about the ENGINEER

You'd want a mallet for repairs, a spanner for rebuilds, and chemical spray for extinguishing fires. Take the spyglass as a pilot item, and choose your gunner ammo according to the guns on the ship.

Always, BUT ALWAYS, ask your pilot first what ammo type he wants you to take. Sometimes he has other plans for you than what you're expecting, and if you take the wrong ammo, it might upset those plans.

The problem is, with pack/herd mentality, most people who are given an option to vote-kick a player will vote yes just out of instinct. I think TotalBiscuit had an editorial on that at one point during one of his videos.

The risk of kick abuse is too high right now. On the bright side, however, it's easy to switch lobbies, and most of the newer players match-hop constantly. If someone annoys you, wait a while.
