Yeshan  Empire is your basic classical Asian style government, however unlike ancient China and Japan, the Empire is run by a council of Eunuchs who are the intellectual and philosophical elite.

Eunuchs,.. 'O che sciagura d'essere senza coglioni!'

If I remember my Chinese history correctly, the Ancient Chinese empires were, at some periods, ran by Eunuchs.
The last days of Han dynasty would be the best example. If I remember my Chinese history, Eunuchs held sway over the emperor before being overthrown by provincial warlords.

Do you guys think that the Yeshans know Confucius, and/or hold Confucian ideals in their government? The way muse set them up, it seems most likely.

From what I could dissect from videos that talked about the factions and what info has been uploaded, the Yeshan follow a GOIO version of Confucianism, in this case its basically a philosophy that teaches the basics of propriety. In place of an emperor, they have  a council of eunuchs, who seem to be a part of an educated sect within the society and have the proper knowledge to run the country, economy, military, and external politics as per the teachings..

And yes, throughout history, there have been many instances where Eunuchs have controlled the Chinese emperors from behind the curtains. Look no further than the Ten Eunuchs prior to the splitting of the Han Empire.

Anglean Republic are a scattered number of villages that have a governing official with advisors, however they are all united under a singular ruler of the entire republic and gather to meet at certain times. Despite their barbaric actions of raiding, slavery, and piracy, they are actually quite organized (which is kinda necessary when living in such a harsh environment and a reliance on piracy and thievery.)

Yeshan  Empire is your basic classical Asian style government, however unlike ancient China and Japan, the Empire is run by a council of Eunuchs who are the intellectual and philosophical elite.

The Arashi League, if I remember correct, don't have a central leader, and are similar to the Angleans that they are a cluster of villages with their own leaders but are not always allies with each other.

Best: costumes, really fit the theme of the game, even if people use silly colors.
Worst: costumes, not enough of them!

And  second worst, lore, because we need more lore!

From what I see:

Yesha Empire: Goldfish and the Galleon, if you look at their designs, they are very much East Asian style influenced which Yesha is.

Fjord Baronies: Mobula, has that royal feel to it with the glass and the unique fencing and trim. I would also say the Pyramideon for the baronies because it looks very much like a mass producible ship, something you would see in a fleet.

Chaladon and Mercantile Guild: Spire, mainly by it's look to be put together in all the right places and also a bit of flare to it, someone spent ACTUAL money to build this and not rigged it up.

Arashi League and the Anglean Empire: I would have to say the squid, mainly because these are two cultures that do rely on a bit of raiding to survive. A quick, maneuverable ship can take down any size ship and makes for hit and run tactics. The Junker, as well, because it looks like something rigged up with pieces of other ships, something the Arashi League and the Anglean raiders are known for.

they said that the problem with the baronies was creating the story and the overall theme for the faction. However they have also said that they were interested in linking the powerhouse to religion.

Oh dear god, its the Holy Roman Empire all over again!

How does this have any relation to the Baronies?

I ban Genozide for not putting a monocle and top hat on his Avatar. What sort of Gent are you anyway?

Not wanting to allow a Gentleman to be slandered like that, I figured I would use my amazing phot editing skills once again to rescue this hero.

Don't try and pay me, this masterpiece is free of charge.

I couldn't resist

Well... They... You know... Had to make it subtle. A loaf of bread would have been far too direct.

Honestly I prefer pieces of soft pretzel. You know, the high class fancy shit

Feedback and Suggestions / Faction home/Clan Docks
« on: October 12, 2013, 02:18:17 am »
So I was just watching the recent dev speak upload and a suggestion came to my mind when they were mentioning a bit of an RP factor with the faction overworlds, such as docks and taverns. Now, being a hardcore and veteran RPer myself, the first thing I usually do in any game is acquire some form of residence for my character, such as in World of Warcraft where there are tons of empty buildings and caves one can use on the RP server. This is what came to mind for my suggestion of Faction Housing and Clan Docks:

This is the scenario: You have done outstanding achievements for, lets say, the Yeshan Empire. You have escorted cargo ships, fought off pirates, protected diplomats and helped with assaults against Anglean Raiders. You have earned awards, titles, a new ship design and even a unifrom to show your faction pride. However, you continue to do outstanding achievements. What could you earn next? You are given honorary citizenship within the Emperial  Capital and are given a place of residence. This place would serve as:

-A log in point where your character would start off when you enter the game.
-A meeting place for friends and crew members.
-A nice RP zone for those dedicated to the art.

And one thing many people would like:

-A place to show off your trophies, medals, and awards.

Look at it like this: You just finished a weapon where you sunk a sky pirate captain's galleon. His fleet fled the field and you were able to loot a piece the ship, maybe the steering wheel or part of his propellor, or even better, his flag. Now you would be able to place this trophy on your wall as proof that you beat this field boss and gained this achievement.

Now for the mentioning of Clan Docks. We already have clan teams in competition play and with the release of co-op and adventure mode, there will begin to spawn a larger variety of clans. A clan dock would serve as a meeting zone for your clan only:

-A meeting place to plan crews for tournaments/COGS.
-A meeting place to plan raids and missions.
-A generally good hang out and a spot to AFK.
-A place to put trophies earned while raiding as a full clan.

This is merely a work in progress suggestion and I would appreciate any criticism and suggestions.

The Gallery / Up and coming airship builders (lego art)!

Evening  everyone, master (more or less) engineer McMorgan here bringing to the GoI art scene something a little different, and it includes the creations of something hopeful little artists.

To explain, I am a counselor at an art camp, working with around as few as three and as many as thirteen 5-6 year olds. My class is a lego class. That's right, we build Legos for 9 hours(morning class and afternoon vary.) Each day, we do a different theme for what we build, and today I just happened to have my steampunk goggles, and because Thursday are teamwork building day, I had an awesome plan.

"Alright my apprentices, today you four teams are charged with creating a new fleet for her majesty's air armada. You must work together to build your own unique airship or suffer banishment from the kingdom!"

This is what we got!
