The Docks / super kawaii smiley face of doom brigade! [◉‿◉]
« on: April 09, 2016, 11:24:49 pm »
heyo!  the super kawaii smiley face of doom brigade is recruiting!

we're largely a casual group out to have some fun.  some of us have that itch to play competitively, but not to the point that every match becomes a training/practice session - we're not here to stomp everyone and be the best, we just want to do awesome things together.

hey new players, and players looking for a door into competitive:  we're willing to work with ya!  just respect your fellow players on both sides, and let's roll!

sound good?  start flying around with us, see if we're a good fit for you.  we mostly play evenings CST/CDT timezone, and on weekends.  search for clan name "SKSFoDB," add us a friend, and we'll see you in the skies!

Feedback and Suggestions / hide ship loadouts from the enemy team
« on: August 31, 2014, 07:58:37 pm »
I...really don't know if this is a good idea or not.  it's a thought I had though; give me some feedback, y'all.

largely, I'm just thinking of alternate ways to start matches more quickly.  if a team can't see the enemy's ship loadouts, they're going to base their own loadout on their teammate and the map only.  it's less to think about, and less to worry about if the enemy team decides to change their strategy.  it's a bit more realistic too.

I see the downside of not being able to help new players on the other team with their loadouts before a match, if you were so inclined.

maybe this could be an optional thing when you create the match lobby?  thoughts?

Feedback and Suggestions / tooltips
« on: August 17, 2014, 03:30:09 pm »
we do have tutorial text, and that's great, but it doesn't cover everything.  I'd like to see it expanded with a tooltip function and cover things like the difference in hit markers, the difference between green and brown matches, and how to whisper or reply to a whisper in game.

there's a few ways I've seen that do this...one of the big ones being a pop-up when a cursor mouses over something.  I'd like this one with a disable function in it, but I could only see this getting implemented in lobbies, and that won't cover everything either.

some of the games I've played had a random tip at the bottom of a loading screen.  I never liked this in the games I played, since sometimes the games loaded faster than I could read the tip, but it may be more doable for us here, since it does take a bit of time for the match to start.

my favorite implementation I've seen is utilizing dead space upon login to display a random tip.  I'd probably add a function to toggle through them and read them all at once if someone wanted to, and an added function to disable or minimize the tooltips altogether.

it's a thought, anyway; what do you guys think.

Feedback and Suggestions / viewing ship themes
« on: August 12, 2014, 09:50:03 pm »
so Daemacil pointed out he's interested in some of the themes, but is reluctant to buy any since they're not well visible in the shop.  so essentially he's going to wait until he happens to crew a ship with one of those themes, and he'll take a second to scope it out.  I think it'd be a good idea to correct this...

so the view is on a fixed axis and you can't really zoom in as much as you need to in order to see the themes.  there's a lot of different ways to supplement - allowing you to play around with the ship in the shop as much as you can play around in spectator mode of a match, or adding screenshots, or something.  something!  but I'm inclined to agree with him - I have a hard time seeing the ship themes in the shop too.

Feedback and Suggestions / more maps for practice
« on: August 07, 2014, 07:10:42 pm »
spin-off suggestion from here:

https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,4646.msg77573.html#msg77573

guys, bright monitors hurt my eyes.  it's the primary reason I hate Dunes and Practice so much - they're very bright maps.
I'm sure, likewise, for some people the dark maps are an issue.

but anyway, this is a suggestion to add more maps to Practice.  I know several players that would like to see every map that we currently have be practice-able, so they may explore every nook and cranny and be better able to build strategies based on the map.  for me, that's not what this is about necessarily, though if you wanted to, you could kill two birds with one stone (though I could see other community members perhaps being against this; go ahead and weigh in, guys!).  what I want, though, is for Practice to not hurt my eyes, and I want the monotony of the boring desert as far as the eye can see to be broken up.

I'm interested in hosting regular matches in Practice in the future, but if I do, I don't want to get burned out on the same map over and over and have to contend with eye strain whenever I do so.  please?

I love that there's an option for your friends to join their crew if they're in a match or a lobby for a match already.  Sometimes though, if they're already running a match, I either want to join them (if they happen to have a free spot) and have no clue what else they have in their crew, or I just want to check the lobby and spectate or get in the match after.  At these points, if I click to Join Crew, and they happen to have a slot open, I'll find myself in the match - stuck with the loadout I had set and not knowing what I'm getting myself into.

Overall I just want to be able to see the lobby of a friend's match before joining the match if it's in progress.  So I propose a couple of options: Either "Join Crew" will redirect to the lobby if the match is in progress, where you can see if there's an open slot and equip accordingly based on what the rest of the crew has before actually joining, or add a new "Join Match" option to do what I just suggested Join Crew would do, and keep the Join Crew the way it was.

thoughts?

I just realized I wanted to buy some custom character and ship stuff for my fiance and I couldn't do it.

So I want the option to add items from the store to a wishlist, and maybe a button on a person's profile to see their wishlist.  items are purchasable by anybody for the wishlist, and the person that they are purchased for will get a notification the next time they're in the lobby after purchase.

or there may be a better way to go about it, but that's how I envision it.
