The Pit / Lion gun needs buff

just played a game and it was rely stupid. the enemy had hwacher and all it did was help us. every time we had fires on our components it extinguished them via demolition tactics to stop the spread? why does a gun assist the enemy team? Also my pilot princces tutu was complaining how flying junker was hard as you have to keep 3 guns in arc while moving in 3 dimensions - however thanks to the hwacher gun he no longer needs to worry about keeping his side guns in arc nor does he have to worry about horizontal movement. why does a gun make this game so easy?

i wud appreciate it if muse fix this asap!

Heya creative people! Breaking news coming out of where you least expect it! (Not that place, filthy minded people!) Us guys in The Pit have devised all the puns and rhymes we can to assemble what has been dubbed Carols of Icarus! It would be awesome if you could check out our thread here for carol ideas and to see what we have compiled already!

This thread is also where I will be posting this special form! The official submission form for Carols!

For you artists out there! It would be amazing if you guys could create a dapper looking album cover for us, I want this to be a fully community created album to sell around xmas time, we get to have fun making it and listening to tunes while raising money for good causes! We can have a vote nearer the project release date to decide where the money should go!

As for the actual performing, I think there will be 3 options. Solo performance, Group performance and Choir performance. Solo performances will be someone performing a song on their own and later submitting it to me, group performance you guys should submit it to me where I can add it to the album, choir performance I will grab a bunch of us in a teamspeak server to sing as a huge group and have a fun time - it may not sound amazing but it will be excellent fun to make and listen back to! As for backing music to dodge copyright stuff and to maybe make it fit better with some of our "weaker" lines I would like it to be created by our resident DJ's!

I hope I'm not too informal to perk your interests, but I'm just a humble Pit-dweller - my typical post is off topic and consists of anywhere between 1 and 2 lines - so be happy with this!

I hope I get a good few carols, I am looking for somewhere between 12 and 24 carols for the final release!

It is a period of inactivity. Many clans are unstable, however some rebel clans have managed minor victories against Rydr and Predator forces; However competitive players are slowly losing interest.

Hidden in the shadows of this great battle two new forces are revealing themselves in the form of old legends, taking their time to recuperate from past trials, these sides are not to be underestimated.

Looking to regain their glory and settle age old quarrels with Rydr, the Holy Roman Army are staging a comeback, using stolen information from secret Predator bases Agents Insi0 and Konstigrej, dubbed the Swedish Elite, are looking to put these stolen plans for the Rydr super-ship, the Dementio Star, to use and reclaim their stolen title as champions.

Meanwhile on the Desert planet of Australia, young padawan are being trained up by Obi-Wan Tropobi to face off against Sith Lord Darth Guras. This team, led by those who escaped Order 66, dubbed "Matchmaking Launch", are out to prove that Guns of Icarus is played in places outside of the EU and US.

A huge battle is set to take place in the somewhat near future (whenever BoCA plan the next tourney after this), however one thing is for sure. The competitive scene is far from over..

The Gallery / Old Screenshot Thread

A place to share old screenshots, the more nostalgia invoking the screenshot, the better the post!


Found this gem of the old(ish) lobby screen featuring the white background, old layout with specs to the side and build party to the top right. Wish I had an older one since this had the new background art (I believe there was an older background before this), the 1-15 system instead of 1-10 as well as way too many squids to be a 2012 screenshot. I believe the 1.3.5 patch was feb-april 2014, but I might be wrong.


Also here is an in game screenshot from late 2013 - my screenshots don't go back more than a couple weeks earlier than this so if anyone has some nice older ones - that would be amazing, I can't even remember what the game looked like at launch when I took my first steps in to this world. In this screenshot you can see the old UI without perma-hull, a translucent compass, different achievement HUD and no stamina. Although it does miss out on the old reticle I remember, it also has "crew commands" which didn't originally ship with the game iirc.

I hope we can get some gold old screenies in here from 2012 and early 2013 lobbies! Alpha and Beta screenies would be even rarer. Feel free to watermark and we could make old, rare screenshots into a currency

Hey, after the demise of TAW I took a bit of a break playing some other game, however I am now wanting to come back to GoIO - and its wonderful competitive community! I can play any role and I am quick to catch on to things I am taught! If any ship needs a new crewman to: sip whiskey at the back of the ship while occasionally whacking things with other things; to shoot chunks of metal, out of chunks of metal, into even larger chunks of metal; or to spin the big wooden wheel and hope we end up in a safe place - give me a shout here or in game!

In phase 2 we will be collecting resources and deciding upon the aforementioned BONUS RULES! (BUM BUM BUUUUUUUMM). Please leave links or offers for the resources below!

Resources required:

• Co-Casters (I will be boring just talking to myself all game, would rather have a discussion)
• Logo
• Bonus rules (Just post ideas for rules below, I will load them into a random generator and link the result (as a screenshot) on the sign up posts!
• Community referee (to ensure there is no bias towards a team from me, should only need 1 or 2)

How did your character get in the clan he/she is in and in the costume you see them in?
Personal Story:
After a rough upbringing in the City of Nalm, a childhood full of theft, little water and scamming wandering traders, She finally saved up enough money to scavenge, trade, scam, steal and sometime purchase enough parts to create a small Squid class vessel and her dreams of leaving this Sordid wasteland was coming to fruition. She picked up anchor and left for better lands. Being young and having little life skills other than making shadowy "deals" and having a knack for steering and maintaining airships she struggled to fit in to places and often got heavily attached to those around her. One day she was in an especially bad state, malnourished and desperate she pulled up at a local tavern in the town of Fallow. Here she discovered a group of sky dwellers known as The Art of Warfare, they were playing a game called Caverns and Creatures, this was apparently an event they held which allowed them to escape their pasts and forget about event which are bound to happen in the future. Apparently the way you play is by creating a second life where you can be anything you want, after attending this event a few times she joined The Art of Warfare and completely abandoned her own story to live out life as her C+C character, known only as The Hunter, an elf from a kingdom from over yonder. Hunter became completely attached to this idea of a fair kingdom far away.

Well that's my pretty crap story, wonder what you guys can think of? Took me a while to type all this on my phone -_-

Community Events / Mid-week Madness Tournament (Phase 1)

Hey, welcome to the Phase 1 discussion of what I hope will be a fun weekly occurrence! This phase includes measuring interest, putting acrossed the base ideas and a general discussion of the foundations of which will be built on.

After having a really fun 4v4 today, I wished that they would pop up more often, since Wednesday is typically a "Whole TAW get together" where we stream.. I thought "why not invite the public to get a 4v4 filled really quickly!"

So here is my plan!

• 4v4 match
• Streamed
• Every week there will be a randomly selected "Bonus Rule" to stop the tournament going stale, these rules will be decided in phase 2, alongside finding streamers.
• Match will be an open lobby, but captains will have to apply beforehand
• Lobby will be set to shuffle between the 2 or 3 matches played per evening
• Teams of 4 will be aloud to apply and enter the lobby pre-creation to ensure friends can play together

That's pretty much what I would like from the event and if anyone else has suggestions or criticisms feel free to leave them. A logo would be nice too so begin gathering ideas, I will take submissions in phase 2, voting for logos will take place in phase 3!

Any weeaboos here in GoIO? Here's some stuff about me, feel free to copy paste this as a template or add more questions!

First anime: Dragonball Z (aired on tv for me when I had never heard of anime as a kid!)
Favourite anime of all time: Oban Star Racers
Favourite anime this season: Brynhildr in the Darkness/Black Bullet/No Game No Life.. Please don't make me choose, was hard enough narrowing it down to this!
Favourite anime last season: Log Horizon, hands down (2nd place would be a tough call though!)
Anime you secretly enjoy(ed): Recently, my sister is unusual
Most hated antagonist: The as of yet unnamed guy (I believe) from Gokukoku No Brynhildr (Brynhildr in the Darkness) I really want to know his name so I can put him in the Death Note book...
Most loved protagonist: Shiro (Log Horizon) is the Sherlock of anime.. always 50 steps ahead, but not ridiculously intelligent/ahead of everyone as Shiro/Sora from No Game No Life!
Favourite relationship: KiritoXAsuna :O SO KAWAII!
Waifu: Chocolat from NOUCOMe
Over-rated anime: Naruto
Under-rated anime: Bodacious Space Pirates needs way more love!
Personal anime fact: I have watched every episode of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT and the abridged series.. still have to watch the movies for completeness but I don't want to kill myself from how bad they are..

Interested to see the opinions of others! Took me a while to think all of those through and decide!

The Gallery / GoI Themed Poems or Shanties to sing in lobbies and when playing?

I think compiling a list of shanties or poems which can be sung a capella in lobbies would be good fun, imagine Brick Hardcastle opening up his mic and saying the first line of a shanty and everyone knows it, joining in for the chorus ^^

The songs here should be based on individual clans (song of war)
Significant figures (scary tales of the best gunners in history!.. or just "Skrim is Love, Skrim is Life.. The Musical"

Anyway, just some ideas! I will probably write up a draft for some poem shortly ^^
