the glory days of the Pyra were honestly GOIO's golden age

why Muse felt the need to subvert that ship for the sake of a mobula+goldfish meta I have no idea.

tbh I think the format of the event makes it super hard to "play GOIO". the random teams means it's super unlikely that you will achieve the meaningful co-ordination that is (for me) what makes GOIO interesting at any level of play and the way points were scored on many weeks ie. for kills over winning simply discouraged serious attempts at teamplay further.

I know varying teams from week to week is fundamental to the event, but maybe some there is a potential compromise - for example for each match to be a BO3 with the same teams instead of just 1 game. I don't think this would push the event to a super obnoxious length and it would give a lot more reward to put the effort into establishing some team synergy each week.

i take it charybdis is meant to be on blue and not the 4th member of red team?

General Discussion / Re: Where is the PvE mode?

don't think even adventure mode will have freeroam open world airship piloting though, which is a shame.

the system is arguably problematic because certain playstyles could be more likely to concede kills when winning than others, even with a relatively equal skill gap. but I don't think it should be a huge problem in what is not a particularly hardcore scene or event.

well if you have 15 mins to spare anyway, (added 5 for lobby move) just give a time extension to avoid the tie in the first place.

I wonder if there's a way to get across to players that getting better at the game is its own reward? (beyond just waiting for them to work it out eventually, which is obviously a very unreliable process)

Dota has succeeded at this pretty damn well, and before that the previous generation of FPS managed the same.

Maybe something as simple as letting players view their own matchmaking rating would put the focus more onto "skill progression". Of course that assumes that Muse ever made the matchmaking formula more sophisticated than just win/loss.

General Discussion / Re: GOI usb custom controller

Sorry for the late responds I have been really busy.  The box is to be used WITH a keyboard and mouse, as a supplement ,not on it's own.Think of it as an extra panel, for the helm. If not for all the flame I would have posted a video of me using it in game. But the people saying that it is an ugly and should be ripped apart is right. It is ugly, and should have been made wireless so you could throw it away. However the functions it gives to the user, can be useful. At least to me. So you guys can say whatever you want about it

I made this for fun, and posted it here because I thought it was a fun project, and related to Guns of Icarus. I did not count on getting that many negative comments.

try rereading the thread.

the "ugly" and "rip apart" comments were talking about a different USB device that was suggested in this thread as a basis for Richard Le Moon's project.
I don't think anyone feels so negatively about your work, or in this community would be so rude as to actually air such an opinion. :)

Well, good luck.  Be sure to stay afloat, because this game's balloon has been losing its air and that engi better be good in keeping the game afloat.
feel free to share any other insights you've picked up during your week long affair with this game and its community.
