Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Larger Crew Size

Just because I'm new to the game doesn't mean I'm not able to understand why a certain aspect of the game was put in place. 4 players adds in the decision on what to repair when, what gun to man when, as well as how many of each role to bring along at the beginning of the match. That is a pretty simple decision to see. The longer I play this game the more I feel that players like you, those who berate new players, are the real issue. You'll never get new people to play if you keep telling them they're stupid and their ideas are worthless. At least I'm here on the forums giving my input.

I completely agree. There are a lot of "experienced" players who are on this high horse who feel that they need to berate and belittle all new comers on their opinions, inexperience, or whatever. I would love if people (In-game/Forums) would show respect to everyone. I'm not saying you have to agree with someones idea, but show some common courtesy and be respectful. Tell them why you don't like the idea. Experienced players make me hate the game sometimes, because I have to deal with you.

That could be merged into my idea: https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,178.0.html (based on your suggestion)

yeah when I read your idea I felt that Muse could integrate it. I love your idea.
My wife and I sat for hours, and I mean hours customizing shirts and logos on APB.  We managed to make every Final Fantasy logo out of all the dozens of typical tribal shapes and common patterns.  I'd hardly ever leave the damn thing if something like that was in the game.
I became obsessed with getting the dragoon armor right for FF4.  Or the flames on the meteor for 7.

I was the same way with Black Ops II and Black Ops I had to make all my emblems just right. Mickey Mouse was the hardest one :)
I love when games give the player the ability to be unique and creative!

The Shipyard Idea

The Shipyard will be the place for all Captains to take their ships to customize them cosmetically.

You will have the ability to:

1. Customize a flag with a unique emblem and color(s)
     - The emblem editor could be bunch of shapes that you can mold to make your own emblem (ex. Black Ops 1 & 2) or a bunch of pre-made emblems made by Muse.
2. Customize the balloon, fin, hull, deck, railings color
3. Customize the non-usable items on the ship (Ex. Pots and plants....etc)
4. Change the look of the Helm
5. Add Figureheads to ships

If you would like to add anything else be free :)

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Planes

We're a small team.  Implementing planes, especially ones that players can fly, is non-trivial.  We just don't have the time or money.  There may be opportunities in the future for this though so don't count it out.

And... absolutely no boarding.  Go play a different game if you want absolute and utter chaos :P  We don't have boarding or player weapons (pistols, etc...) for a very specific reason.

I understand this completely. I'm not trying to force planes down everyones throats (especially Muse's), I just wanted to talk about them and their future.

I have never agreed to boarding. I have never wanted it and never really will.

But thank you for the response and shedding some light on the situation!!  :D

Ok after sitting in my captains quarters for a few hours I had an epiphany. I would not want AI to fly planes. For two reasons:

1.) plane AI would be unreliable and useless or they would be too good. Finding balance with AI is alot harder than finding balance with a player IMO.
2.) planes should be put in for the players enjoyment and the adding of another part of a crews tactics. Having AI fly planes, for me, would be like waving candy in front of a kid and saying you can never have it event though you can see it. Or like skyrims dragon born dlc where you could ride a dragon but its on rails and you never really get to fly it.

Plane idea: A plane with a pilot with a gun in the front and a gunner with a gun in a seat behind the pilot. The gunners gun is on a swivel that can turn in total 360 (with a safe zone of not shooting your plane of 210 degrees) you can move the gun 45 degrees up or 45 degrees down with a total of 90 degrees. This will require the pilot and gunner to communicate as well as the captain an the planes pilot to communicate for support, tactics, etc... Sorry if this was hard to read I'm on my phone right now and it's a lot harder than I thought

I think this game, is a game people would be willing to purchase extra stuff for. Hell, XBL players pay 20-60 dollars for DLC. I'm sure we could pay 2-8 dollars for extra stuff. I'm all for supporting Muse especially if it helps develop adventure mode.

Awhile ago I was told by someone at Muse (cant remember now) that they had no plans to implement a way to customize stats on a ship (balloon, engines, hull, ect.). They do want to do cosmetic customization, but Im not sure on what the flavor would be (flags, hull paint, balloon paint, ect.).

If we were to eventually have a "customization station" for our ships, how customizable do you think it would be? I guess it would depend on how much time Muse wants to spend on customization and they have more important stuff to worry about at this moment.

If they do add planes, i hope i can fly one of them. But i think Captain Phil had a design concept for a whole new ship that acts like an aerial carrier with planes and helicopters back in the old forum archive

See I was thinking of the airship going at full steam with a plane attached to a claw underneath the hull and with the right conditions the plane can be released and it will fly off.

Or maybe, if at a high enough altitude, the plane gets released by the claw, unhooking it, and dives to get to get to its full speed.  (engines will be on off course before the drop)

Actually, I like your idea a lot better than mine. It's more realistic and would be one helluva good time diving in the very beginning. But, the next issue if we have planes is we have to have some kind of AA gun if our Plane's Pilot is useless.

Muse has actually recently mentioned plans for AI-controlled planes or gliders or something, but they didn't get any more specific than that.

They'd be cool, but I think that they would need an option to be turned on and off. I wouldn't want to see them every match. I don't think they'd be that hard to balance, though.

Maybe when a host sets up a match they can choose to have planes on or off. Also, I like the idea of having a 5 man crew, so one can be a plane pilot.

Pilots would have to be excellent plane pilots so they can take down their adversaries and then try to influence the airship battles.

I'm gonna probably get heat for this, but I want to discuss planes.

1. Can we have them?
2. Is it possible to have a nice balance with planes and airships
3. If so how would Muse implement them?
4. Are planes even worth fighting for?

If this is something that has already been discussed I'm sorry I want to hear (READ) other people's opinions on planes. :P

I would prefer to have just cosmetic changes if the balance of the game would give Muse too much trouble.

I love all these ideas.

I want the ability to really make the ship my own, so it's unique.

1. I love that I can name my ship but I would like to have the name written somewhere on my ship.
2. Be able to add designs to the hull and balloon
3. To be able to choose materials for hulls, types of balloons, engines, etc... to make the ships better. (This will be tricky because you will have to find balance)
4. If we ever can have planes I would love a balanced variety of planes that attach to ships.

I love that I can name my ship and put a loadout for the right kind of weapons. However, I like being super creative and making things my own. So I wanted to see if people had other ideas for ways to customize our ships. So I will start:

Customizable flags to fly on our ship (This can be an Armada or Guild flag if we ever get those or a Freelance flag)

I would love to read other peoples opinions good or bad.  :)
