Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Some suggestions

Well, I still have to stand by my support of giving priority to gunner on guns.

I gave an anecdotal story to emphasis the want of the mechanic. I'm very well aware there are trolls, and ways to avoid them, but should I not play if I don't see clan? I alone have recruited about a dozen  people, and have an active clan on top of that, but with my work schedule, I tend to have hours that people are simply not on. And having this mechanic would be beneficial when we are down a few crew. Should the the pilot be forced to change an entire ship and load out for it because there is one player he doesn't know well? Not very fair towards the rest of the crew and team.

More then that, what is the harm? If you run a a ship with willing and teamwork oriented crew, then yes, the mechanic isn't needed. But it does no harm at that point. Where as in situations as I've said before, it would have been very much wanted. There have been threads arguing about how gunner isn't useful, do they need a buff, ect ect with good points on both sides. The only consistent thing brought up is the certain guns work best with multiple ammo types. So in the situations where having an uncooperative team mate, the gunner should be allowed to have priority in their given class.  It's something in an ideal situation is forgotten, but in those rare occurrences very useful.

As far as trolls go, well, that's just something anyone that plays online has to deal with. Beyond that, I like the idea of giving gun priority to gunner, and see very little reason for it not to be. In my opinion, the benefits outweigh the negatives. I'm aware that we can't do much with a uncooperative player, but this mechanic can at least knock one more item off the list of annoyances.

*remembers the lightning gun and starts drooling again.*

I dared mention it before, but some called me mad. Mad they said!

*a foaming two hours later*

*Ahem* I like the idea of having more guns, especially those that encompass different mechanical areas. Be it a cannon, giant gat dakka or electric madness, it makes me more hyped up for what they might put into co-op.

The issue I see is not so much communication, many of us agree that it is key to any victory. Running a tight ship is not the argument, far from it, and in this game it's top priority.

The problem is when you run into a player that refuses to listen. More then once I've been trolled simply by having someone, no matter how any of us asked through both text and voice, that the gunner needs a particular gun and they wont budge from it.

The instance I am recalling was during sales. There were three of us dags, and we were playing around having fun with a hwatcha fish. We got a crew member from MM fairly late in the lobby, a couple levels up, he accepted the load out, everything seemed alright. When we loaded in, he dashed to the front and stayed on the gun. I asked him not to, I wanted to pre-load my ammo. He wouldn't move. Alistair asked, both text and voice to no avail. We got hit by the enemy team, and the engi on the front gun kept hitting the balloons, loading the wrong ammo, refused to shoot what Alistair told him to, ect ect. We had to resort to using the flame thrower and ram kills. So after the game, we left the lobby, and what more, this guy followed us. We had to leave lobby and sit before he went away.

On some ships, this isn't so much an issue,  but there are ships with guns that benefit best with certain types of ammo. And even if that were not the case, then you have someone that refuses to listen to target priority and refuses to repair because they wanted to gun and the load time for them was faster then the gunners.

If someone indicates and asks they wish to gun before we load in, I'll switch over, but more then a few times there was no indication and they cost us games because we were down an engineer and not doing the damage or disable we needed. For some, this is a far and few between problem, but when it does happen it's very annoying. Even on ships with many guns, some people have ignored the requests. I've seen players tell off me or my captain that they want this gun and they were not going to shoot anything else. In some cases, mild annoyance, in others, costly.

Giving priority to the gunner class would have fixed at least the damage/disable part. Not much to do with an uncooperative player, but at the very least a gunner could do their job.

Just be thankful they weren't the miniature giant space hamster variety. They go for the eyes.

I will impale you with a loch round and shoot you from my heavy flack as an example to others

Sounds like a better love story than... twilight  :P
What kind of impalement? Vlad style? Or through the abdomen?

@ The Mann: Yes, yes it would be a better story then that mysterious set of of tiny letters.

@ Carn: It's much scarier if I leave the rest to the imagination.

My name stems from a player in game joke that started with the tabletop role-playing game 7th Sea. One of my players characters was named Jeffery Marlowe, a wisecracking swashbuckling thief with a terrifyingly bad cockney accent. Easily one of the best characters we had in a game, so from there my significant other has taken it as a default last name for many characters, I myself keeping with the trend. There is now a family tree of Marlowes that span from 7th Sea to d20 Starwars to D&D to various video games on top of that. So being in a steam punk game, we kept with it.

Sarabelle comes from a combo of some of my favorite characters growing up, Belle from Beauty and the Beast (if anyone tries to make a Twilight reference I will impale you with a loch round and shoot you from my heavy flack as an example to others) and Seras Victoria from the anime Hellsing. The spelling is tweaked, but all together just seemed to flow nicely.

I mostly agree with VomAct..
If the pyra does get a buff (this is not likely anytime soon btw) I should only be a minor single change.
Turn, health or accel..
But not more than one of those...

I'm in the same boat, as it were. I positively hated being on a pyra as that more often then not it'd be meta. All meta all the time makes gunner a dull girl.

Even so, I agree the nerf was very much too harsh. A small buff (be it acceleration or health or maneuverability) just to make it a little more viable would be a welcome change. As I've mentioned in posts before, either make it so that it can handle being slow and clumsy by having it tanky-er or make it nimble enough to make up for being built out of moonshine soaked cardboard and duct taped dreams.

Hey now people, let's not go and change the topic from a reasonable discussion of game tweaks to yet another set of pointless arguments regarding he/she/its/own/others skills (or lack thereof). There are more then enough of those already, and it's not constructive feedback. We have someone newer here that's trying to be productive, lets encourage that.

But the darn thing was made from a Hwacha!

I wasn't gonna let those brass lion heads go to waste!

True, but you have to look at it from a game and development perspective. We can't have 2 lion head guns in one game where the selection is quite small as is. All the guns are very unique and easy to tell the difference between one another. While-story wise it makes sense, it doesn't help to have to explain why it looks almost exactly like another fun I'm afraid to say.

I like the general design with the mini barrels for ammo feed, though I kinda would prefer something other then the hwatcha look for easier distinction. I think either large charred tubes or if you must decorate it, something like dragon heads instead.
Ha read the thread where he came up with it in the cantina. I told him dragon heads would be better.

Ha! No wonder you're in our guild XD
But yes, build off the lion heads. Give it a longer snout, longer spikes for horns and paint it green or red. They still can be from hwatchas, just...'improved'

Perhaps. It would have some drop, as it's squirting burning napalm.

I'd give it a severe drop, or instead of a stream have it shoot in "bursts" since its using mini-kegs. Make the gunner earn them fire stacks!

Sorry to say that if we went by the logic of "players are indecisive" that means that we'd have to ban all the game modes, being that in any scenario be it 2v2 to 4v4 you will on occasion get an ally that wont talk or work with you. It is the side effect of a multi-player game, not much can change that. I am sorry you have had difficulty in 4v4, me personally I love the feel of an entire air battle once in a while. And yes, it can be very annoying when the rest of the team isn't willing to work together or people not even knowing what captains chat was (I think i made a meme about it). The other issue is that yes, it does take a long while for lobbies to fill up, I'm sure many us can regale you with epic tales of endurance in dark times waiting for just one more player...

If it is difficult for you, I would either suggest just avoiding the 4v4 or play with clan and friends to ensure a workable team. For one, that fills lobbies, and two, you get more cooperation. Because when you have a workable team on a 4v4, to me its a much more enjoyable game mode.

My suggestion to Muse was colored icons: White for X, Orange for C, and Purple for Z

Ooh, I like that. Def would make things a bit easier in the lobby. I would also love the ability to temp mute the other team in one go just so plans could be laid out without having to type everything.

How about a visual difference between party and crew chat for matches? And captain chat for them.

That would be really handy to have a clear distinction between crew and captains chat. So many times we have to let our captains know its the wrong chat. It's an easy mistake to make, but it would be nice to have clarity.

This some show I'm not aware of Shaded?

Nope, it's a famous Warhammer40K homebrew Space Marine Chapter.

@ Carn
The Angry Marines are a really popular meme/home brew Space Marine Chapter as Shaded said. If you need a good laugh I'd check out the 1d4chan post on them, it's incredibly vulgar but freakishly hilarious. Its even got unofficial codex to play them if you feel like being angry and screaming. *ahem* ALWAYS ANGRY ALL THE TIME

@ ShadedExalt
Thanks! I might have played an Angry Marine one too many times on the Space Marine multiplayer mode...

On Actual Subject
I imagine if this system was to be used there would be a sound pack, much like the voice packs that could be mixed and made on the workshop. As fun as it would be to blast sounds at each other, we all know it'd be abused pretty badly and some measure of control would have to be in place...or another slot added to the report form...

I once suggested a night time volcanic map, mountains that now and again spew fire that would need to be dodged in some areas, other areas with roaming thick smoke clouds that dont do damage but ruin line of sight. The only light would be from the volcanic vents and fire. But that would be really hardcore hard...but I think it would be fun

No, that's default for carros.

Gats shoot power bolter rounds

Lumberjacks lob power boots

H.Flak fires power fists

I imagine having Angry Marines would be something like this:

As we approached the canyons, one of my engineers claimed he heard a noise deeper in the mists. I slowed down on the kerosene and quieted the engines, I hear what sounded like a mix of metal noise and a long yell. Started, I decided to seek an alternative route before a great yellow and red ship bellowed out of the crevice, speakers and tubes over its hull seemingly screaming only one word:

“FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-”

They plowed into our ship, my crew screamed themselves as they saw our inevitable doom, my own vessel being smashed upon he rocks, the war cry so much clearer from our advisory.

“-UUUUUCK YOOOOU!!!!”

Mines flew out around us, the only clear sign of who-or what- was the clear mark of an angry frown painted on said mines, fire and explosives breaking my ship  into the rocks, they uncaring of the carnage as they rammed my ship again and again while shouting:

“STOP HITTING YOURSELF! STOP HITTING YOURSELF!”

There is nothing left.
