Sorry move from hell took 3 months... We are almost settled again and this is on my work desk. As far as ramming junk off the desk that's a less effective method than starting over. :(

Anyway update soonish...

Q&A / Re: How to handle silent or noncommunicative crews

also another trick is to park your ship in a safe corner of the map where there are no enemies in sight and explain to the crew how the ship is going to work and wait for responses (which at times come in the form of DCs)

HAHA... Ya trying to talk to some players... I wish I could have tossed some one off my ship the other night as in "walk the gorram plank!"

Been painting on this pics below the issue with selling either built models or kits is two fold,
These take a incredible amount of time to make I've logged something like 20 hours on it so far and still have a lot of details to add. Thusly a model like this would be... Prohibitively expensive.

I could make components and cast them. This would reduce the time required to build and finish. But then unless I have the ability to sell a fair number of them (50+) to amortize the cost of moulds, it's still a cost loss issue. The second element that I am considering is the IP issue. A set of models as a hobby project is one thing, an series of garage kits with money in mind is entirely a second thing.

If Muse is willing to discuss the possibility of my company bringing out a set of garage kits under a license I would entertain the possibility. But the builds would be rather different than the above. :)

Anyway pics!

Today's progress

Ive attached the lower deck to the upper structure as I needed to insure I had not made a major error.
As it turns out I'm pretty pleased with the scaling of every thing one of the required compromises is the thickness of the main attaching lines  all other rigging that will be done will be made using a method I learned building 1/900 scale sailing ships.

In truth I need to start painting on this thing as parts are only going to get harder to reach...

See y'all soon!

I'm planning on building a gat, carronade, flamer, lt flak, and mine launcher.  The gun mounts on this model are magnetic so I'll be able to swap weapons :) and as I plan on building each ship, I intend to cast the weapons, when I make a goldfish there will be the sculpts for a hwatcha, and heavy flak

Part of the reason for these builds is looking for ways to make and cast the designs in resin. What compromises are required, and how complicated the models would be to build.

So far I have learned a lot.

Ya that may be hard to resist, such a habit ya know.

I built a airfix spitfire not too long ago, good basic kits that give you a great satisfaction when a build goes really well.

Been laying out drawings for the lower deck, honestly this is the tricky part coming up. Lots of ways to make it look not quite right.  I've already taken some libertys with certain details and relations...

Oh I figure the scale of this build to be aproximately 1/300.
