Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Crazy King changes

It's really just ridiculous how little time there is to get a point.  Really squids are the only ship that could potentially reach a point in time to capture it.  And uncapturing to recapture? forget it.  when points lasted longer, I'd always tell everyone to move on by 100 seconds, because it's futile trying to recapture in under that time limet.  I think at the very least, the point should last 150 seconds before changing.   And maybe with strategy, some non squids could possibly capture things in time, but tell me, how often do you find team mates capable of that kind of thing?  Most people don't even know the basic game mechanics.

Goldfish - The Joyous Whippoorwill (Shortened to TheJoyousWhippoorwil after patch)
The whippoorwill is a bird which shouts its name.  In H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", it is said when a man dies and their soul is cast away, the whippoorwills try to catch it.  If they do, they sing with joy.  If they don't, they slink back, sad.

Junker - Flighted Wahrk
Named after my favorite sea creature in the Myst series due to its similarity in shape and shark related name.  It makes an appearance in Riven.

My other ship names after these tend to change now and then.

Galleon - Stolen Star
I just liked the imagery and concept.

Pyrmidion - Sharptooth (Sometimes Umbrellamouth)
Sharptooth, cause it has such a pointy front end.  Umbrellamouth because the Umbrella Mouthed Gulper Eel my favorite deep sea animal, and the Pyrmidion's shape reminds me of its head.

Squid - Hatchetfish
Just a smallish cool scary deep sea fish

Spire - Skyward Fist
Sounds cool and it kinda looks like one.

I liked the look of the original forums.

The old forum was really painful to read off of. The brown text did not go well with the dark background, and the mobile one was illegible without selecting. In that regard this is a big step up from the old one.

We could have had that with the original forums too though.  Just lighten the font colour, or anything else anyone thought was too dark.

The colour scheme's appropriate, but the look is too minimalistic and soft.

You're clearly not a web designer then.

He may not be, so you, Jazzza, have to make an effort to understand that he might not have the technical language.

The colour scheme lacks contrast, with the various shades of brown - contrast and sharpness/softness are easily confused.

The look of each page is quite bland, there's little visual interest or graphics - which could be decribed as minimalist (although technically that isn't the correct use of the term).

As forums go, it's uninspiring and scores quite low for readability.  But it's still far better than what we had before.

I was really more just talking about the simple rounded edged bars and gradients and lack of graphics.  Nothing's really sharp and everything looks sanded off and to me it feels too safe to be relating to guns of icarus.  As a non web designer and simple web user, the amount of contrast here is enough for me and I liked the look of the original forums.  I think simply having graphics would make them expand the colour pallet.

Correct.  I'm not a web designer.  What do you think a web designer would have to say about the look of this new forum, and what do you think a web designer would have to say about the look of the old forum?
