Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Mobula component layout
« on: July 24, 2013, 02:59:33 pm »

It leads to interesting decisions and is the only ship where a pilot can fire.

??????

How can you forget about the Spire trifecta (or as I prefer to call it the Spire Quackfecta).

Run on over ping pang pew to save the day and back on the helm to steer through the disintegrated splintered hull of your vanquished foe.

I have never even considered boarding a spire... and probably never will
Half the times my team mate has a spire i will quit the match. And every time the enemy has one, i will charge them blindly.

Anyway the "Nightmare" and "Cruel and Unusual Punishment" is just Hyperbole. The Mobula needs some work. Crewing on it is interesting, but not as much fun as it could be.

of course, one reason either way why we dont want to get ahead of ourselves :P we might accidentally make it far to easy to repair and all of a sudden the ship becomes ridiculously over powered >>;

I think the most fun part of the ship as a pilot is having the possibility to mount the top gun.
I think that if that possibility is removed without increasing ship defense, it will become an underpowered ship much like the spire.
I know you want to get it fixed, but really its fun to use. You have to know WHEN to go up there, and multiple times i have lost arc on three guns just to shoot a flare shot while mounting up.
It leads to interesting decisions and is the only ship where a pilot can fire.
Even if it means leaving that gun up means engineering will not be made easier.

The second part that i like most of the ship is that it has a good turning speed but low acceleration. It means that if you start the turn early, you can complete very nice maneuvers, but you have to pay attention and react early, or most of the time, react BEFORE you actually need to turn.

. i only have AI to work with and somehow, somehow adding the ladders has made them even stupider -_-; you should see some of the drunken paths these guys take.

Cant you flag the new ladders as player only?
Currently the AI on mobula is extremely bad it renders the ship completely unplayable with even one AI.
I have to mount flares on most of the ship so that the AI gunners doesnt run all the way around the place.
Engineer AI is just impossible, by the time they get to the hull, you are dead.
I strongly think the bottom AI engineers needs to stay in one hallway and never move from there. Probably not easily codable though...
If only we could manually set priorities or schedules for AI... :P

How many engineers does it take to effectively fly a spire?
About 500 hundred: one too cordinate work, and the other 499 to rebuild a new spire since the last one got destroyed... again

I was in the match where we were talking about it.
I know it's bad when a captain leaves a match while ingame.
But people play to have fun, and it's no fun when you get stomped again and again by a team you KNOW you cannot beat and you KNOW you can't get anything or learn anything by staying there.

In that match there was a full DUCK ship with a level 12 captain and a level 8 captain with level 4-5 crew.
On the other side there were a level 1-3 captains with AI and some low level crew.
One of the captains, while in the match, just wandered around aimlessy without having an idea what to do. He died four times to double gatflak coordinated fire.

Our captain then decided to leave. What could have he done? Stay and get killed? For what? I suspect he wasnt having any fun, and so he left.

Having a captain leave a match while in game is annoying. But it is more rude to start a match with full stacked teams vs new players, and i think the responsibility here would be more on the veterans to even things out.
As veterans, and especially as coordinated teams, it should be OUR responsibility to even the teams and allow for everyone to have a good experience.
You can prevent people leaving by having fair games, rather than having another counter on captains names.

O mndiym aol!

Oh, i didnt understand that the "it was too easy" was referred to my cyphertext.
I thought it was a comment for the caesar ciphers.
Yes this one was also easy but still way harder than caesar.

That was too easy...  :-X

Ahah yes :)
You can't easily solve this one without a kasiski examination and without the help of some cryptoanalysis tools :P

Of course it is solvable, or there wouldnt be any point!
No one time pad, simple key, vigenere! Can't go any easier than that!

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Defensive Weapon Type?
« on: July 17, 2013, 09:29:21 pm »
The game currently has a "kill" (piercing / explosive) role and a "support" role (everything else)

It would great to also have a defensive and an healing role.

The Tesla cannon looks perfect as a defensive tool.
You need to aim it at the general direction of incoming fire or it doesnt work (maybe it can create a 45degree magnetic shield of sorts).
It maybe should damage the engines, and if you try to fire more than one together, the magnetic field become unstable and both guns break.

Another defensive gun could be "air expansion device". You point it at an allied ship, or even at empty air. When it hits a friendly ship, or you use secondary fire, it creates a blast of air that moves every ship in range away from the blast point, allowing for disengage, but dealing no damage.
This could lead to a lot of grief, however.

The "healing" role would have a "nanobot projector" gun that repairs allied hull armor damage, enabling them to tank better.
Maybe an invulnerability gun. You shoot it at a friendly ship, the component hit becomes immune to all damage for 5 seconds.

The support role could be expanded by having "support structure" guns that don't fire, but each of those mounted will improve one aspect of the ship. For example, you could sacrifice one side of the galleon in order to put two "hull armor amplifiers" that each pasively give +15% maximum hull armor

For additional fun, remove the ability to see enemy loadouts at character selection.
You never know who is the tank in the game until you try to shoot at him.
The meta would change, as each ship would need to try and stay away from the tank who will to absorb your fire, while trying to kill the damage dealer without getting disabled by the disabler, or any other similar combination of advanced tactics.

Yeah, maybe i played too much eve online

Fireball lobber!
It shoots balls of fire, very fast, big magazine, huge arc, each ball explodes in 8 different balls after 3 seconds.
Guns of Lag! But funny!
