...

It brings it to the attention of the entire team, and it lets them have the list in a place where they can find it instead of searching through the forum every time.

that's why i suggest a sticky topic where all suggestions/bugs should be put in... see bug forum for my attempt

In fact yes, it would be great to have a topic for all the suggestions. I mean I don't know what mods and Muse think about it but I think it would be useful. Something like you did for the bugs, with categories and stuff :D.

maybe trying to do that tomorrow o.o

As far as using quadrants go, I actually use these quite a bit. Great for giving more precise locations when describing a possible location of an enemy or an intended local to travel to.

The quadrant-system is a good idea IMHO. I just think that the crappy map discourage people from using it. But if it was more visible (like the lines more visible and the letters and number larger) it could become a very good thing for tactics :D.

first of all: thanks ^^
well i have to admit, that i usually join the first game i find, so i haven't played much with professional players by now. after thinking a while i also think that quadrants can be useful, but there is still a small issue: quadrants use the same letters as capture points, which could lead to misunderstandings

I already posted a similar idea about a map some days ago but it's nice to see that more people want map to be improved.

i have to admit, that i didn't search for other map suggestions o.o it would be lovely to have one topic where all suggestions are gathered, i did something like this for the bug forum a few minutes ago, i hope it's useful ^^

But have you already moved the ship? Remember that inertia exists in this game and if one the ship started to move it won't stop when you leave the steering wheel. But if not then well... I haven't noticed that ^^.

well i heard many captains complaining about the wind (especially in Desert Scrap) so i thought there maybe some kind of wind, i do know about inertia ^^

Suddenly an idea came to my mind. Why don't give the RED and BLUE team their own coat of arms, logo or anything? Currently (from what I've seen. I haven't read the lore) it's just a fight between a RED and a BLUE team. Who are they? We know nothing about them or at least nothing about them in displayed to an average player. I bet there is some history behind them like different nations that are in conflict but why isn't it displayed in the game? Why BLUE team can't be called something like Empire and RED the Republic and instead of those flags we could see their coats of arms?

sounds like you're a great writer ^^

And again I hope the map will look better one day.

So do I ^^

Well, the bigger factions already have special symbols for them, like the Fjord Baronies for example have a Raven as their symbol, so it's not completely out of the question. Though I'm not sure if there's been specified exactly who fights who on each map.

I'd love to hear your opinion about my suggestions as well ^^

Feedback and Suggestions / Map revamp, some other small things

Hi,

the map is one of the elements that's still bothering me, because it's hard to use as it is now. That's why i took all my non-existent graphic skills and done this:

this is just a sketch and personally i think some elements should be removed, that are still in this picture (read down below)

Q: Why does the user open the map?
A: to know the location of himself/teammates/enemys/capture points
->so that's why ships and capture points should be in the front/foreground (don't know what's the right word in english) because they are the important elements in this map (he should be able to spot his desire in under 1 second, otherwise the map setup is bad)
- i realised this through adding a transparent white layer at about 40%

Q: Have you ever met someone who used the quadrant-system?
A: No.
-> I think you could remove the quadrants (maybe only the labels because for distance calculating they are still useful) because noone uses them, if you spot an enemy he is marked on the map, so you don't need to tell your teammate "spotted the enemy 3D" (hehe)
- since i don't know if you really wanna keep this system, i changed it a little bit. the labels for each quadrant should be centered (because now it looks like you wanted to label the yellow lines) and be put outside of the actual map because they descripe the composition of the map and no actual map element
- i also replaced the yellow lines (yeah i know they're still there, you can blame me for my horrible graphic skills) with black crosses, i think they should suffice and you get rid of the kinda confusing yellow lines on the map, because they take away useful information and do confuse me a little, also this yellow doesn't fit into the color schema i think

Q (in CP's with 3vs3 or higher): Which of my teammates is headed in the wrong direction?
A: I don't know.
-> by now there is no way to find out which ship belongs to who and this is kinda sad
- i gave each ship a number that is always displayed under the symbol and added a Legend (every map should have one) at the bottom of the MISSION OBJECTIVES that displays the team, the number of the ship, the name of the ship and at last the type of the ship

Q: My achievements tell me to spot/destroys ships that are 1000m+ away, how do i know the distance?
A: If your lumberjack hits and doesn't do aoe damage, the distance is probably <300m, that's the only thing i can tell.
-> you have precise information about how fast a ship turns/goes up and down and the acceleration, but you can't tell if you can make it in time to capture the point, because you don't know the distance
-> your weapons have only limited range description (short, medium, long), i still don't know if gatling medium is the same as light flak medium, so it would be good to add meter information
- i added a Scale to the legend with the length of one quadrant and guessed the meters (probably wrong), but i do think that this Scale would be much better directly under the center of the map (where C is at the moment, only a little bit lower)
- adding these meter information would greatly improve the maps usage and take fights to a much higher level, because professional gunners would now be able to exactly tell when they can shoot the first bullet and are not wasting it

Q: Where is the north arrow in this map?
A: There is none, although you do have a compass.
-> this isn't that important, but old maps always do have a north arrow while in modern maps it is common that on the top of the map you can find the north - in ancient maps it was even the east because of religious reasons
- i added a simple north arrow at the top right corner, it doesn't have to look this way, i rather suppose to use a fancy/steampunk design, maybe using your logo or something

---not related to map

(not 100% sure about that, haven't done much sailing yet)
Q: Why does my ship move even when i do nothing at all?
A: Wind.
-> i don't know if there is a constant wind blowing or if it changes during gameplay
- if it is constant, you could add the wind direction to the map somewhere
- if it changes during gameplay, it would be great to have an instrument on the helm that displays the wind direction and maybe even the strength

Q: Why do we get a flag when we kill someone in deathmatch.
A: I have no idea.
-> flags are used in racing games or capture the flag modes, but why do you use this icon for kills?
- replace this symbol with a more adequate icon, e.g. the icon which is used for explosive damage

--forum related
i wasn't able to delete my old topic (wrong forum) or even edit it after a certain amount of time, could this be changed?

Thanks for reading, i tried to add as many grammar mistakes as i could, so feel free to find all x)

Goldfish:

Running to the main engine (up the stairs, past the baloon) you get stuck most of the times before you're in reach to repair the engine, moving left-right and jumping helps you get unstuck, but this always takes time and is really annoying

Pyramidion:

Running from the hull to the main engine or the engine under the gun, i mostly get stuck on the way the stairs down, i always get stuck on the wall - this is the most annoying spot because in 6/10 cases i can still move but every repair-attempt fails, after 5-10sec the game moves me back to the position where i'm stuck, but in most cases this is already to late

Spire/Galleon:

i sometimes can't use the ladder and need a couple of attempts to use it o.O

Baloon:

this might be a balancing issue, but here's the problem:
in 9/10 cases you're dead if your enemy uses flechette-weapons because they just need 1-3 hits to destroy your fresh rebuild baloon (you may be able to use the baloon for only one second depending on the gunners skill) again which renders you quite defenseless.

my suggestion:
change the buff-system for the baloon. if the baloon is destroyed you should be able to buff it so you can use it for like 5seconds but after that time, the baloon is still destroyed, so you still have to rebuild it. there should also be some kind of delay until you can buff the destroyed baloon again because this option should only be to get you into a position where you can fire at the enemy again

i generally approve of most of your points, the ones i think are important are marked with a +1 and on some others i have some suggestions

"Matches" screen: Currently red for "waiting" games and green for in-progress. I would think the other way round would be more logical? Normally one would want to join a "waiting" game, I would think.

i think it's fine as it is - new games are on top and actually running games are on the bottom - i usually only join running games and "green" means i can start playing instantly while "red" means i have to wait for the lobby to fill

my suggestion:
red - waiting for lobby to fill
yellow - game starting (loading screen) - new
green - game running

There is no way to see who or what is in a game other than by joining it, which means lots of unnecessary joining and leaving. It would be nice if there was a popup or something to show at least the ships and their crews before joining. It could go in the space currently taken up by the create-game stuff, and have a button or tab or something to switch between them.

+1

my suggestion on top of that:
"Quick Join - Options" where you can select which gametype/map you'd like to play most or which ship - maybe even the possibility on which map/ship you actually don't wanna play on because you don't like it e.g. i hate Spire and for one achievement i have to play on Galleon and Flayed - Flayed is pretty easy to spot in the gamelist, but for the Galleon i need to join every game and that isn't much fun

When the match actually begins, everyone spawns in the same spot, which means you end up seeing the insides of the other crewmembers. It'd be better if there were 4 spawn spots (one for each crew position) arranged near the current single one instead.

+1 this way it would be easier for beginners

When engines are destroyed etc. during a game, it shows the name of the particular engine. These aren't shown on the blueprint page for each ship, or anywhere else that I know of.

wonderd about that too

my suggestion on top of that:
add new icons/descriptive texts to the engines for repairing - e.g. "main/thrust engine" or "steering engine" so it's easier to beginner to choose which to repair/buff first, if all engines are destroyed

It is easier to see if a part is completely repaired if you're not standing right by it, which is rather odd. The way the bar works, you can repair something, think it's fully repaired, walk away, and the icon appears showing it's still damaged slightly. It would be better if the "repair display" would make it obvious whether something is damaged or fully repaired. Maybe have the bar in green when fully repaired?

+1

In the game lobby, and social screen, player ranks are shown by number. In game (player labels/score display) and all chat, they are shown by title. I think there is enough room for both, in all these places, so why not show both for all of them? If not, some more consistency would be nice. Maybe only show the rank title, as the numbers can be seen by clicking on the player name (except when playing).

+1 it's not easy for beginners to see which player has more experience ingame, especially for not-english speakers who have to look up most of the rank names (at least in my case)

my suggestion:
display rank and rank title everywhere and add an option to display it ingame under the name (why did you remove it anyway?) - if you're under fire and see someone repairing the hull you might wanna go on and repair the engines but if you take a short look at the leaderboard and get to know that the one who is repairing the hull is a "powder monkey" you might wanna tell him to mount the gun and start firing - this takes up time and can mean the difference between win and death

When voting for a map, the "click to vote" text, or the image, can be clicked on to vote, but the text showing the map name can be highlighted and clicked on and does nothing.

there is also a bug - if you vote for a map and click on "progress" (or maybe other tabs) and switch back to the lobby, your vote is gone

When you are waiting for a game to start, you have regional, team, and crew chat. No chat for only your game, which would be very useful. The "Regional" channel does different things at different times, which can be confusing for new players. Perhaps the Regional channel could be split into two. A Game or Match or something channel, which was for only your game. This would be the one that was available during a game. This could be the one on J. While waiting for a game to start, it would be available, as well as a Global channel (on H?), which is equivalent to the current lobby-regional one. This would solve (35) too.

+1
my suggestion:
change it to one button for chat and implement commands like "/crew /team /lobby /all" and save the last picked option, also make it able to change the adressed people via mouse - while you're chatting you normally don't need your mouse to navigate or use a hash and numbers to speed things up - "#1" - crew "#2" - team and so on
of course one button for each chat is faster, but you don't want to have 5 buttons mapped for chat o.o on top i haven't yet figured how to send personal messages and messages you get while joining a game are lost too o.O

The number of kills/points required to win a match isn't displayed anywhere.

+1 basic stuff ^^

Unable to "unclick" the thumbs up after giving it. Also the receiver is notified immediately, which isn't great if it was accidental.

+1 you should be able to remove your commendation

my opinion:
the whole commendation system is hilarious because you get achievements for it
e.g. (made up story) there was this really annoying guy who did flame all the time but in the end i gave him a commendation - and why? because i get achievements for it and i want to unlock a new piece of cloth - so where's the point in this system? you can also receive commendations if you haven't used the (voice-)chat once - because ppl knew you're a really good person and you don't have to say a word
just the same as "if you like me on facebook, you'll get $5" - who wouldn't like him?
