General Discussion / Re: Captain Centric Game Modes
« on: March 31, 2017, 06:40:56 pm »
I definitely agree with your statement there.  I think Alliance will help address this a little bit.  Larger ships and more powerful engineering tools will free up engineers to do more shooting.  The new engineering tools let more of the repair process be automated, which is essential on a ship as big as the Corsair.

I think for the gunner and engineer experience, diversity of ships and weapons are more important than the actual game mode, since as you say, only the captain really effects accomplishing the objectives.

Gameplay / Re: Mobula with 1 a.i

Nicely done.  AI are really hard to manage on a mobula because they don't work well the concept of zoning your ship.  I definitely try to avoid a mobula without full crew if I can help it.

This is my face with a plague mask

And this is my face with an awesome dragon in London

And this my face with my dog looking really freaked out for no actual reason

And now that's enough of my face, so my face and I are going to go shoot enemies out of the sky.

Hello everyone!

I, Wolfprints, before the presence of the Holy Whale of the Skies, do hereby declare my unwavering  faith, fealty, and service to the community of Icarus.
I pledge to follow the orders of all Muse staff appointed over me, and field all the questions, great and small, difficult or annoying, addressed to me by the person, or the mob.
I will keep myself mentally sane, reasonably sober, and regularly available as is necessitated by the Community Ambassador agreements and forms to which I have pledged my unconditional adherence.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Practice Tools

I like this idea a lot, but it seems like this could put a LOT of information on your screen at one time, to the point where it would be really distracting. I know it's tools, so you have to bring them, but something to consider.

By all means, please add an indicator of which chat someone is using if at all possible (lobby or team while in lobby, party or crew while in match).

Oooooh, I like this idea very much. This could be a much more maze-like map, kind of like what Paritan would be if you couldn't get above it.

General Discussion / Left-handed Artemis
« on: December 20, 2014, 07:25:04 pm »
I've known for quite a while that the Artemis is my favorite gun in the game, and that I'm more accurate with it than with any other gun, and today, after 10 months of playing this game, I finally realized why. The Artemis is a left-handed gun.

If you look at the animation while on the gun, the Artemis is the ONLY gun that is on the left side. A few are center aligned (Light Flak, Harpoon, Morter, and Carronade) and all the rest are on the right side.

Has anyone else noticed this, or know why this may be? Also, if you are left-handed, do you find the Artemis easier to use? Do righties find it harder?

I once had a dream about being in a math class, doing calculus about the gun and movement arcs of the mobula.

Release Notes / Re: Version 1.3.8 Hotfix 2 Release Notes

I agree with the above, being forced back into the queue is NOT a desirable change.  Once players get a good, balanced, friendly lobby going, we want to be able to stick around in it for quite a while.  This is especially true for a group of more than 4 people who are trying to play together.  If we have 6 people playing, we don't want to be forcefully separated every 3 matches. As it is, players can choose to return to crew form if they don't like the lobby, and I think that is even the default behaviour.  Please let us keep the choice to stay in a lobby that we like. Finding and playing with fun people is important to the enjoyability of this game, so don't force us away from people we like. We already have the ability to leave if we want to.

The Lounge / Re: Martial arts!
« on: November 02, 2014, 11:46:33 pm »
Yeah, essentially it is. I don't know how much research you did, but Cuong Nhu was founded during the Vietnam War. The founder wanted to give the people both a way to defend themselves, but also something productive and healthy to do.  That's why Cuong Nhu is very self-defense oriented, and also incorporates a lot of philosophy.

But it's certainly not lacking in martial arts! We do drills, sparring, forms, etc, just like other styles. We have many forms and techniques that come from other styles, but also some of our own as well. It's really a blend of a lot of different things.

One of the things I really like about it is that Cuong Nhu was designed to be accessible to everyone. We're still small in the US, but all kinds of people train in it.  And because it's still small here, it's a very friendly community, which is awesome.  I've met many of the highest ranking people in Cuong Nhu at various conferences, including our Grandmaster and his family. I'm not trying to brag about that, anyone who's gone to a conference has probably met them.

If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend check it out. It's a really great community. Plus you get to train martial arts, so what else could you want?

I did Cuong Nhu (a Vietnamese style) for seven years.  I had to give it up when I started university because there's no school for it here, and because I just don't have the time for it right now.  Cuong Nhu incorporates elements Aikido, Judo, Wing Chun, Vovinam, Tai Chi Chuan, and Boxing.  So obviously we have some pretty diverse training.

We do a lot of sparring, grappling, and weapons training, which I personally love. I've trained with tonfa, ropedart, tambo, and bo (which is my personal favourite).

I'm currently not training, because of school, but I hope to get back into it once I finish university.  I miss it a lot, and I'm always happy to find people to talk about it with.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Your Clan Is Your Friend
« on: October 28, 2014, 02:40:19 pm »
Agreed. I don't have every single clanmate on my friends list because that would make my friends list incredibly long, and because of the Clan tab under social I didn't previously need it.

Q&A / Re: Fire extinguisher vs. chem spray
« on: October 24, 2014, 10:33:38 am »
I pretty much always bring chem spray. I will usually only bring an extinguisher if I'm on a mobula or the bottom deck of a galleon. Maybe for a spire as well.  It gives you more time to shoot, and those ships often have range builds that keep you (in theory) from taking a lot of fire for an extended period of time.
