For Adventure Mode, I think that the ships should be bought from a shipyard or other. These ships start as a template, *i.e. the ships in Skirmish Mode* but you can move gun attachment points around and select guns, along with perhaps different hull attachments. Not only that, but ships would hold resources. They would need fuel *coal, water is cheap and good fuel, but oil is an expensive fuel that needs a converted engine to run. However it is incredibly efficient and powerful.*, food *without it, your characters begin to starve. Food can also spoil if you let it sit long enough.*, and cargo *This is what will make you the money. It can be many things, but the main thing is that you can buy it and sell it, or deliver it on a contract. It can be plundered by pirates.* Here are some of the template ideas:
ANT
This is a very small, 1-2 crew ship. It can hold about 1/2 ton cargo, and has 1 light gun attachment point. The Ant has low hull and armor, but it is very fast due to its light weight. It can't hold all that much coal, water, and food, so it's no good for long hauls, unless you make several stops. The main advantage of the Ant is that it is very cheap compared to other airships, making it an excellent choice for a first airship. The Ant has 1 engine, which is more than enough to propel the small craft.
BLADE
This airship is somewhat strange. It's cockpit is very similar to the Pyramidion's, but the airship is long and thin. The Blade is somewhat frail, holding about average fuel, cargo, and food. It's greatest advantage is that it runs on oil, eliminating the need to convert the engines. The Blade also has several light gun posts along the sides, but nothing on the front or rear. It is somewhat expensive, owing to the preconverted oil engines.
PLATFORM
This airship is... odd. It is essentially a large zeppelin with catwalks above and below. There is an internal shaft connecting the two. The bottom catwalk contains the engines and zeppelin pump, while the top contains the weapons and the cockpit. The fuel, food and cargo is contained within internal tanks, making it a very secure airship. The Platform's top and bottom catwalks have several gun attachments on them, making it a hard nut to crack from nearly any angle. The Platform is about medium-expensive.
