Feedback and Suggestions / Boarding Gun Mechanic
« on: February 15, 2014, 09:20:18 pm »
Hear me out on this: Every April 1st, a live patch should go out that adds in a special special gun.... A BOARDING GUN!

Its an aircannon that shoots the player firing strapped to a 2x4. No actual boarding occurs, its merely a hilarious gadget.

Its a gun, that lets you board ships by shooting boards!

Feedback and Suggestions / Map Achievements Progression
« on: February 14, 2014, 02:48:29 pm »
Hey, this may have been mentioned before, but I would like to suggest that all class specific map achievements be unlocked, instead of the current sequential progression. It is genuinely aggravating, especially when you hit on that one map that's fallen out of favor or that isn't played that much at the moment.

Perhaps a compromise solution would be to have a commo wheel voice that says "MINES!"

Feedback and Suggestions / Costume Dye: Team Specific and Team Inverted
« on: February 05, 2014, 06:54:22 pm »
Hey all, this dye is designed to be a easy to use dye that sets a costumes colors to the team color for a given round. It also has a contrast inversion dye. Pretty simple concept.

The implementation may be slightly tricky, but not insurmountable, just implementing a minor function at the match start to set the customization costume color. It could even be extended from the ship colorization function, if it exists.

I mean something resembling this, a GAU-8

Now tell me you can't see that on the front of a goldfish.

I agree with increasing the slots.

Heavy mount weapon, 20 degree elevations, 0 degrees horizontal. medium cone of extremely rapid fire armor piercing and shatter projectiles.

Note: This is totally not being suggested because I'm watching an A10 montage set to "Shoot to Thrill"

Still, this would make it much more interesting fighting the more agile ship classes.

Again, those guns require high accuracy, and also have innate uses, but the harpoon, in particular, does not ensnare ships. It has notoriously unpredictable and counterproductive physics.

No, because a lumberjack does balloons, guns, and engines, and is its own heavy weapon. This is a limited use specialty round that targets only engines. To make it more viable, we could even introduce a repair or rebuild debuff. Its a snare round, more or less.

This is going to sound like weird pitch. But my idea for a Steampunk Salad Shooter round is simple: An improvised round consisting of a salad bowl filled with greasy nuts and bolts that does added range and damage, at the cost of converting to an engines only damage type.

Its mostly a "We need to slow you down buddy" type round that uses a flimsy salad bowl as an improvised sabot. Said salad bowl, however, breaks when launching, reducing the refire rate (-35%), and providing a low level of damage to the gun (-125). It also takes more space (-50% clip size) and loads slow (-25%). The benefits, however, are enormous, at 100% damage, but only to engines, with 75% projectile speed). It would also have an expanded area of effect, at +75%, but again, only damages engines.

Its primary usage, as I see it, would be to snare enemy ships, especially during crazy king. The rationale would be that said round would fling enough small metal bits into the engines that it would infiltrate the housing and seize the engines, denting and bending the fast moving propellers. These bits, however, wouldn't have enough force to do more than dent the armor or guns, and would likely bounce off the heavy canvas of the balloon. Also, it would make the most god awfully loud and annoying noise ever when fired and when hitting, comparable to "A tornado of hay-pence attacking a tin-shack"

The particulars of the benefits and costs of this round could be further tweaked, and my provided numbers might've been a bit extreme, but I certainly hope we can all agree that in addition to being a quite practical addition to the game's arsenal, it would be incredibly steampunk and cool!
