I do not know how akin the Adventure and Skirmish ships will be, but I believe adding some kind of cabins, either in the center or stern of the ships may be a very cool thing indeed. I think it would be cool to have the cabins as a player's private space, so it can be customized a bit and be locked to most people.
Another cool thing would be personalizing the balloons and flags of your ship, but I think that may have been suggested a fair bit.
Thanks for reading, I hope you consider this.

Well, this would be cool but how would the engineer fix the main drive engine on the Galleon if the captain's quarters were locked?
Anyways, joking aside, this could be neat for AM.

Agreed- if ships had cosmetic customization through rooms and etc things, I'd feel more attached to my ship, instead of it being something to simply change guns on.

I'd imagine the entire design principle of the ships would have to be radically changed to include cabin space and storage areas.
The galleon does have the area above and to the back...

Having a cabin will remind me of Mortal Engines a lot :)
And I think the AM ships should be drastically different and more customizable, but Skirmish ships can stay the same.

Squid would have the cabins in the pontoons...lol
Actually there is space under the rear deck and port holes. But the room to use it would be very restrictive so doing something like this would have to be in the pontoons on the sides.

Not if you changed the ship designs for AM. No reason to use warships for adventuring
