Title: So, apparently the Heavy Cavitation cannon/ Railgun is Arashi...

to me, feedback
Hi Naoura,

The Heavy Cavitation gun is indeed Arashi design. The Heavy Remove Mine Launcher is of Yeshan design. If you need any further clarification let us know and we'll be happy to answer those questions!

Makes sense, since they grew up on Dunes. Sniping for days.

... It doesn't make sense.

Mechanically, it does

Lore wise, it does not.

It's a freaking rail-cannon, utilizing massive amounts of electricity to magnetically accelerate a projectile towards an enemy.

Pretty advanced tech for desert nomads and villagers who arge over scraps, and whose fannon weapon is the Minotaur.

I am guessing they found it in the sand, kicked it and hit with rocks for a while, tipped it upright to the sound of booming drums, lost half of their group when it tipped over on them, figured out it might be some sort of coffee machine, kidnapped an Anglean to reverse engineer it, killed another third of their group when they tried getting coffee out of the working prototype, worked out that is was a gun, and finally stole a bunch of parts from Merc to build more.

Fits perfectly.

If it weren't amusing, I would smack you.

Have a half-hearted salute

Mines always seem silly to be under Yesha.

Yesha doesn't seem like a country that would be behind mine technology. They are too offensive minded. Although I could see them buying the tech to be used to defend border settlements.

Well, they are misnamed as 'mines'. They are clearly grenades. Grenades are offensive.

I definitely agree with you on that, Squid. In a defensive mindset, it would work, especially with how Yesha has used the Rusted Range as their ramparts, with endless patrols around it. Mines make sense in that regard... but for the active war?

I'm not sure.

Honestly, the heavy mine launcher would make more sense for the freaking Arashi. Repurposed mines with radio det-triggers. Besides, the weapon design is even the same as the Minotaur, something that, honestly, IS an Arashi weapon.

I refuse to believe the Cavitation Cannon is Arashi, really. It can't be. That's Anglean for certain.

the arashi are scavengers, and their desert is filled with archeo-tech that they have found, reverse engineered, and recreated. They are in fact second in technological sophistication only to the Anglean republic who has done the same.

they arent simple desert folk, they are sophisticated engineers that live and thrive in the desert

Yes, but their style is not fully finished, polished machines. It is that of the genius cobbler, welding random bits of parts together to make some crazy thing that works. The railgun would believable if it looked like it was patched together from five different guns, with wires running from here to there, and tied to a wooden beam to keep it straight. Instead, it looks like it came off an Anglean production line.

Where are you getting this new lore from? Anglea was always known to be high in tech but they'd "import" people in to solve it for them. AKA: Kidnap. Their mindset was kinda fanatical about just the old world. The ultimate fan boy/girls. The one who buys a super awesome mega gaming PC yet doesn't know jack about how it works, just pretends to know till someone catches them in a comment.

Chaladon was considered as more #2 just overall due to it's lack of destruction. Less weapon based technology, more just overall tech that survived or has continued to be refined since the old world.

Arashi, was probably 3rd due to found tech but it was never noted they were super proficient with making it. They were just smarter than Anglea with using it. They'd be more prone to figure it out rather than stand around obsessing over how cool it it.

However, Yesha it seems just keeps getting stronger despite all of them. Guild money builds them up so they have to get tech from somewhere. With their resource strength, they can easily afford to buy it or trade for it. So you have the potential where Yesha can vary quite a bit depending on who makes what or finds what. Also who buy's from whom.

Guild...well probably like Yesha but more on the lines only using something if it is of benefit to them. Probably would be the defensive specialists.

Fjordlands...I'd guess sharing with Chaladon but probably would view some types of enemy tech as "commoner filth" and wouldn't touch it.

yesha's strength is that their society is meritocratic, their agricultural system is stable, and their population is massive. this means that they have decent commanders, leaders and lots of everything. their R&D is as good as people can do, but they arent reverse engineering the archeo-tech, so they are behind those that are. they have HUGE shipyards though and a huge navy, so they have lots of ships to compete with anyone

the barons of the fjordlands are all vying for power between each other and against outside forces. they dont have the wiggle room to be squeamish.  they have managed to create a pretty stable nation though, if a little socially stagnant. the people are strong and honorable, the fleet is diciplined, and their firepower massive. people are flocking to the baronies from that big middle part of the map, causign them to start worryign about food shortages, but other than that, thigns are actually going pretty well for them.

the chaledonians are improving at a frightening rate, but they started WAYYY later than everyone lese. their tehcnologies arent generally all that military, except by accident, and their society and agricultural base are unmatched. their military is alittle too elegant though to stand up to the huge fleets of the other nations, i feel. at least for now, the shrike seems like a move in the heavy direction that might tip them into the power position

How do we know when the factions started getting into the war effort?

Naoura, why the heck are you so OBSESSED with those lore details?? Especially since they don't matter for the gameplay at all.

Everyone loves a good story, do you not too?

If a story is filled with holes tho, it's a delight for some people to go look for detalis that may help to fill said holes.

For example I despise soccer, but I don't go around saying ''Why are you so obsessed with soccer? It's not like it really matters in life!'', because I simply understand that to be happy you just have to not be an asshole and let people enjoy what people enjoy.

Unless they are being assholes about it, in that case it's war, metaphorically speaking.

Edited minor lexical errors

I just really, really like things to fit. I love lore in things, just as I love history. I love how stories are part of culture and part of our world.

Honestly, I know it doesn't matter. But it's one point of light in the world, dude. If the story works perfectly as it should... finally something works. The story flows properly. It's one of the things that I hang on to.

Nauora, will you help me come up with a title for SCS referees and casters?

I want to do something lorewise. We have looked at maps, compared "Flight of the Icarus" maps to the Alliance maps, we have discussed things. I want your input. Hop onto our discord and share your ideas, please. You can also PM me if you don't want to openly discuss it.

I want Muse to come up with another random gun for Arashi so Anglea can get the Cavitation cannon.

But maybe I am also biased towards Anglea.

Sure, I'll think of some different names if you need them. Just some background would be nice.

we know the fjordlanders started before the chaledonians because it was a barony warship that the chaledonians copied as a model for their first airships. it says a lot that they are competetive now given that they STARTED after the fjordlanders were already in the game

It honestly makes sense for the Baron's to have started with the tech, considering the path of Flight. There was a long, well thought out discussion on this in the Discord.

+1

Otherwise, why bother with a story at all if it doesn't make sense?
GOIO has its little universe behind, and stories make us players feel part of it. But it only works if the story is correctly "woven" ;)
