Title: Pilot tool: Periscope
Post by: Richard LeMoon on July 27, 2016, 06:09:11 pm
I was playing Alliance on Devapp the other day, dodging a particularly nasty boss ship. As I hid behind a bluff, I wondered if it would be safe to go up and over, or if the ship was just on the other side. At that moment, I thought, "I wish I had a periscope."

Then it hit me. That would be a very useful pilot tool to actually have.

The tool would connect the user's view to a fixed point on the highest point of the ship. It would allow only horizontal movement with minor zoom abilities. The view would also coincide with the ship bobbing. Other ships could be spotted if they line up with the crosshairs, which makes it more difficult due to having no vertical movement.

That coul come extremely handy with the guided rockets, fire from protected zone & lead the rockets through the scope.. Best, Allons!

But in all seriousness, Sure Why not?
Im always annoyed by a Giant Balloon ontop of my head, the Extra view would be useful.
Though...is it worth the Pilot tool slot?

Crew could use it as well, so it would replace spyglass or *chuckle* rangefinder.

I say make it a ship component so you get on it like a helm (you can't destroy it).

You should have the spare time to do so since you would only use it while stealthing.

I could see that working.
