What if you could pick either a light or heavy gun for the heavy gun slots?
Would this be useful at all?
Double gatling hawcha galleon op?...
I am aware it will never be a thing.

Let is deploy more mines at once and have different default range (maybe a bit further out) then the normal one.. Or let it deploy like two mines at once spaced out a bit (spacing and range effected by ammo) (so ammos that deploy the mines sooner deploys them close and near.. and ones that make the deploy range longer spaces them out further and puts it further away).. Or both..

Cluster mines were my thought. A loose spacing of connected mines. Or it could launch a sting of mines.

The heavy version of the mine should clearly be the aerial torpedo.

Mayhaps. But the heavy mine already has a name designed by destiny. The light mine launcher is the Phobos, named for the Roman god of fear and a son of Mars. It's only fitting that the heavy would go with this theme and be called Deimos, after the Roman god of terror, another son of Mars and brother to Phobos.

It shoots a harpoon first, then launches a mine that reels itself toward the enemy ship.

No it wouldn't. If you look at a mine when it's deployed, it has prongs that stick out, like a sea mine. Sea mines are triggered when one of the prongs is pressed like a button. It would probably work to attach the harpoon reel between the mine and the balloon.
Either that, or you could have a new kind of mine that detonates when the harpoon cable is reeled all the way in.

Well I was thinking of something more modest. A single shot, big brother version of the heavy flak.
- 5 degrees horizontal arc total, 10 deg vertical
- arming distance of 1200M otherwise only 20% damage inflicted
- Lochnagar + buff can destroy a naked galleon in one hit
- Projectile speed and trajectory similar to the Mercury field gun projectile.
- 10 second reload time
Basically a snipers wet dream. Might make the mino more useful tho.
