Title: Ship Sizes

Hey, just wondering. Is there a place that has the dimensions of the ships? Meters is preferable but feet works too. I'm working on a project and while it would be possible to estimate, having the correct sizes would be nice. Thanks!

That would requier a good ammount of research and study work creating imaginary references from game elements into measurements that can be used to determine the sizes of the ships.
If you want to start at anything, youl have to do some "Avrage size" study of people, and then assume that whichever number on the player characters models. That way you have a good vision of each element inside of ships and their sizes. Use something inside a ship to measure out its length from first person view, or by scoping into another ship. Screen shot it, then calculate using player character as refrence throuout the ship.

Should give you an estimate size.

A good way to estimate a size of a ship is to summon a target dummy in sandbox and range finder it walking from the back of the ship to the front and subtracting the results.
That's how I got most of my rough measurements a good several months ago, and a good and easy way to get rough measurements if you don't wanna get into the more complicated and exact methods.

You can work out one ship's size using burst radii of various weapons to measure distance between components, and then use the chart to compare. Or you could email muse and simply ask like any sane person would.

Anything not using the range finder is just guesswork. Using the range finder, the hull length (from gun mount to front of engine) is about 47 meters.

You didn't say which ship was the 47m.

I am guessing you meant to say a goldfish though, that roughly aligns with my personal data.

I would say rangefinder is guesswork too, ships drift as you measure..

I've recently  been wondering this as well, and wasn't able to think of a good way to measure the ships in game. That rangefinder method is probably the best we can do unless someone from Muse has any info they feel like sharing.

Sorry, yes. I did mean Goldfish. I don't think there is any wind or drift on a spawned ship or target in Practice.

hmm... rangefinder, I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to give it a try. the project in question is a lego pyramidion btw (at time of posting I had not chosen a ship yet)

Hmm... Helium probably doesn't have sufficient lift, but hydrogen goes boom.

It is gonna be a while before the thing is anywhere near ready, for now I'm prototyping the hull. Then I've got to figure out the best way to attach everything (as far as I can tell, the hull and upper deck are both strung from the baloon frame, no solid attachments. this cannot be done in lego. I'm working on it though.

As for floating, I think it is well established that the ships in game would have some serious trouble irl. That said, if somebody makes one, I wanna see it. Actually.... I've got a friend with a 3d printer.. combine that with some model airplane engines..... hmm...

Autodesk Inventor has a handy "Shell" button that makes the thing hollow, which would be perfect for saving weight.

Use something lightweight on top of that...
