Pretty simple title,
What clan did you first join when you started playing this game, and why did you leave?
With many clans today disbanding, I thought it nice to commemorate the clans that have a deep rooted place in our hearts.
Mine was the Tombstone soldiers but I left after realizing that they were inviting anyone they could find.
-
The first clan I joined was Zills Merry Men, which I am still in, despite having left once at an attempt at competitive play
-
First clan was FOTV or Flight of the Valkaries. Little clan with some funny players.
however, they are all but one now as many are never online so a few months ago, I left.
After many years as a lone sailor, I was greeted by The Bards.
-
I don't join clans.
I make them.
-
ɆⱣƗҀ.
Because clans were updated to have to include 5 members.
-
I don't join clans.

I don't join clans.
It says right here your clan is "Salute"
-
I didn't join Salute! Clan, Salute! clan joined me.

Me and my 2 IRL friends I bought the game with made an RvB clan before the big clan update. It was only us in it, and we never remade it after the update.
Eventually, one May evening about a year ago, I discovered a single, music wielding Canadian, followed him around for a while, and the rest is history.
Fun fact for some of you new bloods, The Bards were originally [MUS] Musicians n Groupies.

Ah yes, back in the days when seeing a MUS tag meant an insta-block because then your MO was micspam in lobbies. ;)
When I first started playing with my boyfriend and roommate, some random other newbs in one of our first matches invited us to their clan, Communist Sky Pandas. They all stopped playing in pretty short order, and I left thinking of becoming a Gent. Before I was fully initiated, Dutch Vanya, noting that I was already even wearing spring green (it was destiny), invited me to join Clan Clan and here I am!

I will always hold the Baron's Pub group close to my heart. They were a tf2 server that had one of the strongest online communities I have ever been a part of. It was a shame to see it fall apart years ago. Still have a ton of friends from there though. They were the first people I played GoIO with.
The first real clan tag I wore though was the Muse tag. Never properly joined a clan. I was an honorary Grim though for a while. Clans are never really my speed. There will always be people in them that I don't want to be around, and always be people I like that others don't. I'd rather just have friends and call it a day.
-
First joined a clan named MLGD named after the community I hailed from.
It died and I founded my own clan, named .hack. Tagged [.hax]
It was later renamed [AI] when I realised how dumb and gullible people were back in the day when AIs looked like players.
-
Didn't people notice that most AI aren't called Ceresbane?
Anyhoo, I took on the tag of [SLUG] when I met Cheeseness and his all Artemis Mobula. That was an interesting match, where we sniped components from miles away but dealt no real damage. Thing is, it's Steam Linux User Group, but I'm on a Mac.
-
Recruited by Smollet and Frogger.
-
Helped found The Bully Boys and BFS, never left, they just play other games now. Can thank Muse for that...sigh
If you want to go back to first clan ever joined, thats easy. Clan MacAddict, Omega Squad. Good ole UT99 days. Was actually active there till the magazine went to hell and became too hip for forums or crazed Mac gamers. Sad day, I almost had made 10k on my postcount too. Led a brief start up of a Ghost Recon division while in it. Entered one tournament but members flaked so, that was the end of that. Now I game on PC and find Macs shoddy pieces of used teepee and find most Mac users not much better. Granted there are some decent folk still but when Apple got hip, the global Mac User community shifted with it. From quirky weirdos with hardware superiority complexes to superiority complexes who need to pay quirky weirdos to figure out where the power button is.

Your clan, back in the days of Capt Van, shortly before everyone has their breaks and hiatus, during which I felt lonely and joined Trading Troops, after we started making a name for ourselves you guys started reappearing. Trading Troops came to an end for me after an unfortunate bout of drama, and I couldn't decide if i could be bothered to run a clan or not, stayed clanless a while and ended up making a clan The Sky Slicers, where I realised I couldn't be bothered with the responsibility of running a clan (which I've done in many MMOs and online co op games before) so I joined Ryder, bringing some of my clan members with me....

I don't join clans.

On this note, it may explain why HamsterIV has so many salutes! That's people clicking his clan tag!

Clan Clan. best Clan.
I never left, though I was briefly in Cloud (because of a name change).

Red Empire. I'm still wondering how 80 people disappeared at once - that was weird. I kept the clan tag until I found another clan I wanted to join.
that was quite some time ago, and I've seen some of the REDs since. best of luck to 'em.
-
While the first clan I truly joined was Cake I remember playing a couple of Games with the Gents as I believe what could be considered a self proclaimed trial member, that was a long time ago now that I think of it.
-
[FIRE] clan. Which I believe is dying recently? Haven't seen any of those guys for some time.
-
Must have been my like 8th or 10th game when I joined bladestrike's ship and for some reason I remember having greased on the mortar (this was before the pyramidion/metamidion nerf when the gat mortar was basically mid-range) and basically killing a bunch of ships. He invited me after that match and I remember being surprised about the whole joining the steam group thing as the clan joining process was something I've never done before (I usually suck at multiplayer games and never really "got" mmo's). I was a member of CsM during the whole "CsRy" thing (which geo and I actually came up with) and then I was a bit disaffected with everything going on with CsM and how organized we were if we could even be called that. Anyway all drama aside it was a pretty great experience and I'll not forget some of the great players in that clan.
P.S. IRATEBLACKMAN ftw

You both get a salute for that.

A thing called the Zuka Esrai had me sell my soul Sept -13 to a clan called The Gentlemen [G] or [Gent].
Why i after several months left.. is for them to know and me not to have to explain publicly.

Lets see... I was given this game less than a year after its release during one of its sales. One of my best friends (rl ones) who goes by the alias KitKatKitty managed to get a 4 pack and offered to play the game with me. We did and after stumbling through a mess of gameplay to get a grasp of it my game time started to exponentially grow over hers (mostly because it had and still does have a very attractive manner of gameplay) - we had initially agreed together not to join any clans but that ended rather quickly with TheRealDeadpool coming along and flying matches together (Sorry Katers!). Back then I was mainly interested in gunning but as he swept me up into his DPA clan (Deadpool's Army) I started weaving my way into position as a copilot shortly after the TFD guys that TheRealDeadpool played with started becoming less active.
So with all that going on about 5 months later I had gotten to know several players and one I was particularly fond of copiloting with, Ightrril, had this fancy idea of creating a 'sub-clan' - understand this was back before clan tags had requirements and invite only functions and all that fancy shizzlewizzle so swapping tags was much easier and fluid. This sub-clan was a way for specific players we both really enjoyed playing with to go under one banner when we weren't with our respective clans during down time. We decided to call it kTen (a play off k9) since we had a running joke about smuggling kittens in our ships and would accidentally fire them out of our lumberjacks which is why, due to their claws, balloons would collapse so quickly. Anyways this group swelled to 10 people (ironic to the name really) involving myself, Ighrril, Draaaaaaagon, Llamas Unite, HappyDoom, Blacklaserlight, SiepeAssassina, Almanium, Captain Seal and Kau - with our eleventh, The Squirrel, joining later. This was probably the funnest (unofficial) clan I've ever had the pleasure of playing with.
We eventually split up and went our own ways after we decided to not officially form kTen when the new clan system was implemented but we continued to do certain events together for things like the SCS. In fact that is why my ships' call sign has KTN in it now :) it really was an amazing group.
The rest is history with the Storm Ryders and Muse :)

This is no joke. It's disrespectful. Because of these kinda replies i rarely post here anymore. Fact is the forum and community have changed and are not what they once were.
I miss the old "petty" clans and respect my new friends and clan. But thanks for the reminder.
-
I just commented how poor Keb's joke was, if this need to be clarified geno.
-
hey, I never left my first clan. we just changed names.
-
Formed this clan with a few friends and now... we're still a clan of a few friends. But I ain't leaving. /fb/ stronk.
-
Obviously da Wagh. I shall not stop until there is an Ork in every GoI game!... Ok I probably will.
-
Bards.
Never left.
-
A few weeks ago, I left The Bards for the day and joined The Honey Bards.
It only lasted a few hours... went back to The Bards. Probably will never leave :)

Hahaha, the Honey Bards were amazing :')
My first clan was [SONO] which stood for So Noob. It was a pretty fun novice clan but it quickly died out.
Then I met a bunch of music spammers and soon became Mother of Bards (which is a title I still hold)
Then I made my own random clan Honey Badgers but quickly disbanded it when my attempts to steal Bards failed :P

I Joined the Grim
-
First joined the Gents, still part of the Gents. I think I might still be the only member in the Asia/Oceania/That part of the world region though D:
-
(http://i.imgur.com/xjgnSyB.png?1) Polaris Company - once and forever!
-
Hm let's see... First and last Clan was King's Gambit.
-
First and always gonna be Zill's Merry Men.
-
First Gents, now Gents. Only two clans I ever considered were the Gents and Bards, but I saw myself more as a Gent.

I didn't know that you're also in the Oceania region, Cheesy. I'm in South East Asia, the country they call the Little Red Dot. How I played with the Mad Hatters at 3-4 AM for a few months is beyond me.
-
I joined for mines, I stayed for mines.
<3 mines

First clan I joined was the Merry Men. Haven't left. :)
