Title: Raiding Eric's Desk
Post by: Indreams on April 07, 2015, 11:05:08 am
It has come to light that we know very little about the world in which we fly. The secrets of our world is apparently locked away in Eric's Desk, while he laughs down on us from his Overseer mothership.

Therefore, we are raiding Eric's Desk.

The Plan is:

Kamoba will drop the party off on his Galleon, the party will raid Eric's desk, Kamoba will commandeer a Squid from their Skydocks, and we shall flee with the papers.

Calling for high-level roleplaying adventurers!

You willing to take an Anglean Marauder?
Title: Re: Raiding Eric's Desk
Post by: Indreams on April 07, 2015, 11:17:30 am
Yes. Anybody that can fight. Anglean Marauders are great.

I am a Yeshan officer trained in hand to hand combat. Although I don't usually work with Angleans, we shall join together for the greater good.

We'll recruit for the next few hours, and head out on the raid.

Ex-Merchant 'ranger' here.  I can pilot if need be, provide ranged support, and sneak us in.  If we're going in loud I can fight.

We will need about three Hades Funhouse Mobulas to pull this off.
Title: Re: Raiding Eric's Desk
Post by: Carn on April 07, 2015, 12:06:03 pm
We should probably acquire 3 pyras to ram through the defense walls
Title: Re: Raiding Eric's Desk
Post by: Richard LeMoon on April 07, 2015, 12:24:02 pm
Pyras are too weak now. Go with three triple buff moonshine Galleons with another three parked dual Minotaur Galleons pushing them from behind.

i like the way you think, perhaps some flak fish can soften up the walls first

The Yeshan government supports the raid. They are providing an armada of Pyramidions, Goldfishes, and Galleons crewed by ambitious Yeshan youths.

(I told them that once we have the lore, they will be left forever in history of GOIO)

I've secured 3 Marauder units, 120 bloodthirsty and loot crazy jarheads
Title: Re: Raiding Eric's Desk
Post by: Indreams on April 07, 2015, 12:53:01 pm
This has gone from a small-scale infiltration to a full-out assault. That's good.

Eric's desk is held in an evil flying fortress of doom. We will face many dangers, the least of which may be Jacob's codes.

I propose a plan:

The Armada of Yeshan youth will breakdown the north wall of the fortress, while the bloodthirsty Anglean jarheads will break down the gate to the south.

Once the defenses are broken, an intense battle will rage inside the fortress. In the cloak of the chaos, an elite group of heroes will climb to the highest room of the tallest tower to free a princess. After that, the heroes will search for the desk, Carn will crack it open, and we will rapidly retreat before the wrath of Muse gods finds us.

Who's the Princess?
Title: Re: Raiding Eric's Desk
Post by: Indreams on April 07, 2015, 01:07:10 pm
Felt like a princess would be appropriate for the situation. You know, the whole "raiding a flying evil fortress with a group of heroes" thing.

We could just drop the bit about the princess. Wouldn't matter too much.

This plan needs to open with a Pizza delivery to distract the muse devs from the treasure trove that is Eric's Desk. There is nothing like melted cheese over bread and sauce to distract an indie dev especially when it is free.
Title: Re: Raiding Eric's Desk
Post by: Indreams on April 07, 2015, 03:17:14 pm
Alright, we open with a pizza delivery, distracting muse. The Yeshan armada and the Anglean raiders will assault the evil flying fortress of doom, and rescue a princess. While that's happening, we'll clandestinely sneak into Muse office. Carn will pull out an axe, smash the desk. We'll gather the lore and escape on a Squid that Kamoba will commandeered.

Is there any noticeable flaws with the plan?

I shall lie in wait with my trusty duck tape launcher, with moustachio tape.  I shall tie up the guards in an explosion of mustachioed duck tape.  Then as the AoYY and MLCJHs raid the walls, we shall sneak into the evil fortress.  We shall all have pre-arming timer flaks with one barrel as our weapons, and travel through the hordes of evil minions to get to the tower, in which Ceresbane's sense of humour and Gilder's hopes and dreams are trapped.

what has? If you are referring to the deal i made with eric to release more Anglean lore, in exchange for handing you rebels over then yes. At this moment the marauders are wiping out your "Yeshan Youths" through numbers, superior equipment, and training. Oh and they have a much better reason to fight, instead of some vain attempt at getting their names remembered, they are fighting to secure the lore of the Republic, which is sadly lacking.

No, we wanted you guys to have Pizza, any maybe get raided by Anglean Marauders. We were never going to raid Eric's desk. Really. It's not like we had an overblown plan or anything that Carn sold out to Muse.

Well seeing as how about a third of the factions were left unfinished. It's either sloppy, lazy or a product of a dev who can't stay focused one one project for too long. But I asked about this a few firesides ago and Eric said he'll get to it when he gets to it.

Yeah the discrepancy in the lore is a shame. We had someone working on it in the good old days who has since left the project. Eric is now Master of the Lore and has taken on the old lore and adapted it. It's gone through a couple of redos so we're trying to get all of the old and new lore up to the same standard - preferably a very high standard! :D

A community driven lore competition event would be pretty good.

Ask the us to submit a page on few subjects: certain towns, battlefields, boss ships, etc. etc.

Than, instead of an endless writing and rewriting, you guys (the devs) can pick the ones that work. I bet you'll get a pretty good set to go off of. If the event ends up being a complete, utter failure, it's not like lore is getting lost.

In fact, give me a moment while I email this to feedback@muse.

I used to write lore, quests, and the setting (places, people, things, background) for another online game I am loath to mention. I was the master of taking their old crap and tying it to the new crap, then making it not crap. I must say that some of the other writers did not like me much when I told them their writing was not up to standard. Things went bad (due to some open but not open source issues), I pulled my work, and the entire thing left me rather cautious about getting too involved in the lore of a game again.

Anyways, I guess my point is that it is not an easy job. Not everything can be 'epic', so there is a lot of boilerplate writing.

Well, I'm definitely not suggesting that the community writes the entire epic lore. We just write tons of flavor texts, descriptions, and such that Muse can pick from.

If we let the entire lore be written by the community, it'll probably end up like our plan to raid Eric's desk, involving duct tape, pizza, traitorous Angleans, a Yeshan YMCA, an evil flying fortress, and a princess. Actually, I think I've had a dream like this. :)

I was actually talking about the person that has to do the 'picking'. Were there to be a community lore workshop thing, there would have to be a corresponding, full-time lore guru on the Muse team to sort it all out and make the master work. I am sure that will happen someday, but for now we will have to keep raiding various fortresses of office furniture.
