Title: Faction Borders
Post by: GeoRmr on January 27, 2015, 12:06:39 pm
Because the factions are constantly warring, I'm assuming their borders are a source of conflict, will this be part of coop/adventure mode?

Really nice map, the colours were a nice touch.

The green bit, you spelt Trading Troops wrong.

As I am aware (working off memory from things I've heard Eric say in vids and dev fireside.) Yes that is how it'll work though you may still find conflicts within borders, raiders slipping past patrols, smugglers etc etc

I don't see anything wrong with this map. What are you all going on about?

On a more serious note, I assume every nation will have a few core territories and a capital. Through player influence, neutral cities and later faction-afilliated cities will be conquered so that the exact borders are constantly shifting.
Isn't that the way Planetside does it?

Planetside, or Planetside 2?

If the second, then almost.  Conquered bases DO shift borders, but borders aren't a huge issue, unless it's the first, in which case it's a huge issue, with the continent locks and such.

I mean Planetside 2. Sorry, never played the first one.

PS2 does it so that each faction has one, impenetrable Warpgate, and their territory extends from there.  Cap a base, borders bulge to accomodate it.  If it weren't for connection lines, you could theoretically cap your way straight to the enemy WG, as bad an idea as that is.

I do believe something like that could be possible, yes.

Good job on that map Geo! I like it, and the colors definitely are a cool addition to it. ^^

On Kamoba's comment, I'd personally like to see things like that! Border intrigue and how that would affect faction politics would be very interesting in my opinion.
