Sunday Community Skirmish on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/sundaycommunityskirmish)
There is a unique tradition practised by a mysterious sect of monks, its origins lost in the mists of time. Every Sunday, they would rise from their deep contemplation of the universe to duke it out in homemade airships across a variety of exotic locales. Largely forgotten for centuries, now that the airship is mainstream, the sect have gone public, encouraging any young men and women who will listen to participate in violent weekend air battles. At least it gets them off the streets.

This signup thread is for the Skirmish at 8pm UTC on Sunday 14th Decemberr (example: Britain is currently on UTC) The event is normally streamed by Fourth Oracle, as well as other streamers who vary from week to week. The details of all streams will be made clear on the day of the event.
The event follows the same 2v2 deathmatch, single elimination, best of 3 format that you should be used to. Teams should consist of 8 players - please only sign up if you are confident of your ability to turn up with a full team.

Signups should be posted in this thread and include a Steam/Skype contact and team name. Signups close at midnight (UTC) on Friday the 12th December. Please try to avoid last minute signups.
The bracket and map rolls will be available soon after signups close. (brackets at http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/ (http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/))
Participants will be contacted when their matches are starting, although it's encouraged to consult the bracket and keep track of the streams so you have a decent idea of when you will be playing.

Time Limit Rules
Every match has a base time limit of 15 minutes. However each Bo3 has a "reserve" time of 10 minutes; if a match runs past 15 minutes it will draw on the reserve time for that Bo3. If a match passes 15 minutes and all reserve time has been expended, it will end immediately. Hopefully this will prevent the long matches that mess up our scheduling without the inflexibility of a flat reduction to the old time limit. We're open to tweaking the numbers or reverting to the old system if this doesn't work out.
If a match is left tied by this system the Bo3 will continue regardless. In the case of a tied Bo3, the result will be decided by scores, or failing that a coin toss.

Teams are allowed 5 minutes of lobby time after their game is scheduled to start. In a situation where a team do not make a fair attempt to be ready within this span it may be counted as a forfeit depending on whether the event is already running behind schedule.

Substitution/Disconnect Rules:

Communication Abuse:
Participants are asked not to use ingame chat in a way that may cause offence or is otherwise inappropriate. It is at the discretion of the match referee to ask players to stop using chat and if necessary penalise teams with a match forfeit for persistent inappropriate communication. The referee is also authorised to restart the match in a situation where an individual player is causing trouble and needs to be removed. As with any match restart, the referee's decision should be made taking into account the current situation. In the case of a restart the scores are not reset; the new and previous lobbies should have their scores added.

Newcomer Bias:
The bracket may be altered to ensure that particularly newer teams are not exposed to a first match against a massively more experienced team.

The usual reminder: Please only sign up if you are confident of your ability to produce a full team of 8 players.
(note you don't actually have to provide a roster to prove this. We'll take your word for it.)

As noted before, it may prove necessary to run matches offstream if the number of participants exceeds what available streamers can handle.

Hm, in Germany the 22nd and the 23rd are still regular work days. At least for me the weekend before Christmas is still business as usual and I could see a SCS fitting well into my schedule for the 21st.

there is a chance that I might be around on 21st, if I am I would like to run a test event with blindpick for ships, I hope this can be of interest if anything.
We don´t expect or want to ask the streamers to come stream on 21st or 28th, they are already doing a lot of work for us all. But if i can get 4 teams for a test event we can easily do some testing.

From: "SAMULL BAYO" <Panda_1@zwallet.com>

Subject: URGENT REPLY NEEDED.

FROM THE DESK OF: MR SAMULL BAYO.

DAIMOND BANK OF AFRICAN COTONOU, BENIN REPUBLIC.

ATTENTION:

I am Mr samull bayoForeign Remmitance Director of DIAMOND of BANK Africa. in the capital city of cotonou de Benin republic.

This is a very confidential proposition for you. On November 21st 2013, a Brazilian Oil consultant/contractor with the Benenoise Solid Minerals Corporation, Mr.Mauricio Jose De Matos made a numbered time (Fixed) Deposit for twelve calendar months, valued at US$8,000,000.00 (Eight Million Dollars only) in my branch.

Upon maturity on November 20th 2014 as his Credit Officer, I sent a routine notification to his forwarding address but got no reply. After a month, we sent a reminder and finally i discovered from his contract employers, the Benenoise Solid Minerals Corporation that Mr.Mauricio Jose De Matos died on an Air Crash.

Further investigations, and all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless. Again,I made further investigation and discovered that Mr.Matos did not declare any kin or relations in all his official documents, including his Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank.

This sum of US$8,000,000.00 is still sitting in my Bank  No one will ever come forward to claim it. According to the International Banking ethics, codes and Laws, at the expiration of 2(Two) years, the money will revert to the ownership of the Benin Government if nobody applies to claim the fund.

This is my proposal: Please remove Praetorians from the SCS roster as I have made a grave mistake in signing up and I will give you 30% of the funds. Apparently we only have 2 pilots in the clan available tomorrow as Blue, Thomas, and our glorious leader jube jube have all made plans in advance. Most of which include shopping for dish washing supplies or doing dish washing related activities. And unless we get Nat Nyls, self proclaimed pilot who flew in Hephaestus to be my co-captain, it seems we will be in a bit of a pickle. So we most likely are going to merge both teams together. Please also change the name of the Centurions to "GOOD OLD FASHIONED MEATBRAWL™" You should observe utmost confidentiality, and be rest assured that this transaction would be most profitable for both of us because I shall require your assistance to invest my share in your country.

Thank you and god bless

pandas

During the two week hiatus, can a proper ship picking system be discussed again? The way it is now I don't really like, and a lot of players feel the same

Under the current system, you can hard counter all bloody day until the lobby timer runs out. Additionally, you can swap at literally the last second, which I feel is very unfair.
A while back I remember an idea that I think was implemented for a little while, but for some reason got shot down.
I propose this solution that is totally fair for everyone: Game one: Red team picks one ship, blue team picks two ships, red team picks their last ship and no one can swap ships or loadouts after they pick or the round is restarted or forfeited. Round two you can reverse that so blue team goes first if you really want, but I think the solution would be a nice change, and it's completely fair

we tested the exact pick order system you suggested a while back, here are the data:
https://gunsoficarus.com/community/forum/index.php/topic,4886.15.html

as mentioned it is not in our interest as SCS organizers to enforce these rules. The reason for this is as follows:
SCS is not a highly competitive event since our ruleset is basic. Putting pick order rules into it wont change anything, and the feedback received from teams showed that the stresslevel from picking was too much and didnt have a different outcome than our current system. We basicly just host this event for teams that wants to play something during the week. We make sure that teams signing up are guaranteed to play atleast one match, aswell as it being streamed. - other than that SCS has no ranking system, prizes etc. so is there really a reason to implement pick order rules when the event basicly is a scrimmage between several teams?

however to fill the need for highly competitive events Hephaestus season 2 should be under way soon, aswell as we are working on the idea of a competitive one day event which will run monthly.
