Title: The 2 gunner thing
Post by: Hoja Lateralus on October 22, 2014, 01:40:57 pm
The new matchmaking, because of the low game population, can make 2 gunner crews which I suppose annoys most of us. We have very little impact on game population - then what could be the other solution to this problem? I think that matchmaking should work the same as now but it would show pop-up confirmation windows like "We found a lobby for you but you may have to change your class. Continue to lobby? Y/N?". Then you could join as second gunner but at your own risk.

I definitely think it should let you know in advance in some way if there aren't gunner slots.  Something like either giving you two options: "There are no gunner slots available, would you like to change to [engineer, pilot, whatever's needed] or continue to wait?"

I have only ever had this problem when 2 of the ships are running a 3 engineer build so I'm not sure how they could change the algorithm to fix it.

I've had it happen in lobbies that already had 1-2 gunners on every ship.  It prioritizes finding a match quickly over having properly balanced classes, so you can end up with 3 gunners on a ship....
